Stunning Property

There are too many wonderful things about our stay at Wolfshire to cover them all. The property is spacious and the cleanest home we have ever rented; as in perfection. Kenna gave us a tour of her beautiful property so if you like gardens and/or love animals this is the place to be! We are cyclists and found the roads very safe (speed limits slower than California!) and many separate bicycle trails to choose from. Thanks to Kenna for all the special touches including basics for the kitchen, cookies to die for, fruit and more. We very much appreciated our relaxing week at Wolfshire.

Wonderful Stay at Wolfshire

We had the opportunity to stay at Wolshire over the Christmas holidays. The two bedroom suite was lovely and clean. The unit was very well stocked and Kenna was a super responsive host. We thoroughly enjoyed our home away from home and would definitely go back! Thanks for everything Kenna!

Beautiful, Peaceful getaway!

Kenna was a fabulous host! We arrived to fresh home-made cookies(still warm). Keena was knowledgeable & helpful, and took the time to go over the fun things the area had to offer. The "Courtyard" came equipped with all the comforts of home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to prepare meals. The beds were comfy, and I slept like a log. I would recommend this location to anyone wishing to be surrounded by beautiful flowers & trees, while relaxing to the peaceful sing-song of mother nature!

Peaceful Island getaway….

Amazing property in a peaceful little valley…perfect for unwinding and relaxing. The owner was easy to work with and works hard to make everything comfortable. Thanks Kenna! The apartment had so many nice home touches from fresh fruit , local chocolate, her own home made cookies ( warm from the oven) and some special pear cider. Plus , fresh raspberries from her garden for breakfast! The beds were comfortable, towels nice and fluffy, and the best part is finding a quiet spot to sit and listen to the birds, roosters, donkeys and not the traffic. Even saw some deer along the way. All this and we get to watch the donkeys in the field and scratch their big ears when they come over to say Hello. There is a friendly kitty that comes by once in awhile for snuggles …shows up at our front door when she feels like it. We did go to Symphony winery for a tasting and charcuterie board one day and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. It is in a lovely spot. Would also recommend the Brentwood Bay ferry over to Mill Bay for a fun, short cruise . Sidney is very close and we did manage to get a table on the deck at Riva’s Italian restaurant for lunch. Highly recommend trying it out …good food , good service , and a nice harbour view. All in all, a wonderful getaway for a taste of the island.

Perfect location. Short drive from the airport and Victoria

Kenna gave us a tour of her lovely property, including meeting the 2 adorable donkeys. The unit was immaculate. Very modern decor. Even the place settings on the dining room table were a very nice touch as well as the cookies, fruit and wine that were provided. Would definitely stay here again if we were ever in the area.

The garden delight

Great place to enjoy the outdoors. Quiet, beautiful area, hiking around in trees and spotting of deer. Very relaxing. Kenna greeted you upon arrival and had a tray full of goodies awaiting us in our apartment. Easy access to sites around. Loved the Seahorse restaurant in Brentwood Bay. A very enjoyable week. Loved her Donkeys also.

Great Stay!

Kenna was great! We were pleased with all of the little extras that she went above and beyond to provide. The land scape is stunning to sit back, chill and enjoy humming birds, bald eagles and all kinds of birds etc. Location is close to shops and restaurants too. We had a fabulous time and would love to come back again.

quiet and beautiful

It was clean, quiet and comfortable. Well equipped. The host was charming, friendly and unimposing, but provided everything we needed when requested. The apartment is on a hillside with beautiful view over a bucolic valley with a glimpse of the Saanich Inlet. It's within a mile of coffee shops, groceries, pharmacies, excellent restaurants, pubs, etc.We were there two months and were sorry to leave.

Ahhh Bliss

We stayed in July and the only thing that would have made it better is if we could have stayed longer! This was a very nice place to stay away from the city and relax, it was so quiet. Kenna made our stay enjoyable by having a very clean and comfy property. The welcome gift of chocolate, cookies, fruit and wine was a great beginning. Meeting the sweet donkeys and a tour of the property was fun. We enjoyed grilling fresh produce and meat from the butcher shop and tomatoes and herbs from the gardens. Kenna's recommendations on where to shop and eat were great. It was easy to get to all the sights we wanted to see. It was fun to watch the fireworks from Butchart Gardens on Saturday night from our deck. We were two couples and enjoyed having 1 bedroom and bath up and 1 bedroom and bath down so that we had privacy but very comfortable spaces to sit and talk. The outside spaces were very nice to eat in and grill. We enjoyed our stay very much and would love to return. Thanks Kenna for a great stay!

Beautiful suite with an amazing garden

Luxe accommodation and attention to detail everywhere you look. We were warmly received by Kenna upon our arrival. Her genuine hospitality was evident the moment we met. We stepped into our suite, and there was a platter laid with fruit, chocolate and cookies. Assorted beverages as well as a complimentary bottle of the region’s wine were tucked in the fridge, as well as condiments. and a full pound or 2 of fine coffee beans in the freezer. Cupboards and cutlery lacked nothing. Top quality sharp knives. Toiletries and plush towels and bathrobes await you. All the finishes and decor are top notch. The suite is so impeccably appointed and of course clean - goes without saying. And then there are the grounds! There isn’t room in this post to wax eloquent about the incredible landscaping. Kenna is generous with her time on a tour of the grounds, or just in conversation anytime. But hush: if you do come - which you really should - don’t go telling everyone how amazing this place is. We want to make it our headquarters each time we come to the island from here on in. Thanks!

Perfect stay

What a lovely place to stay! For once all the photos were just as they showed! We had a perfect time! From the time we arrived Kenna was the perfect hostess! She greeted us with fresh blueberries, cherries and apples plus cold drinks, as it was hot that day! The grounds were our own private little garden and with the barn, one horse and two donkeys , just paradise. We were two couples and stayed 4 nights, plenty of room to lounge, breakfast, and bedrooms and bathrooms were great! The entire house was spotless and we particularly enjoyed sitting out on the front and back decks! The house is close to Sidney and Butchart, in fact, you can see the Saturday fireworks from the deck. We went to Butchart in the late afternoon and stayed for the evening concert and lights and then took opportunity of the next day readmission and went back for more garden time! Restaurant choices were great , we loved sitting on the waterfront deck at the Brentwood bay resort pub, food was excellent, we also enjoyed Prairie Pub! One day we went into downtown Victoria, an easy 20 min drive, and the other day wandering around Sidney, a cute little town about 10 min away! The house had everything we could ask for, the kitchen was well stocked, and although we didn’t cook, we explored all the cabinets and it appeared to be well stocked for all cooking needs. I can’t say enough about how beautiful the gardens were around the house, from a waterfall and goldfish pond to fruit trees and all types of flowers! Beds were super comfortable, and I love there were robes and slippers provided! Now to see if we can come back next year and stay for a month or longer!

A lovely and quiet oasis

Our stay at Wolfshire exceeded our expectations. The grounds are just as lovely as pictured. The accommodation was clean, the beds very comfortable and the view from the deck of the Olympic mountains was beautiful. Kenna and Michael were very welcoming and eager to make sure our stay was enjoyable. Kenna even drove me to do a quick grocery shop when the taxi driver declined. The drive to Victoria is an easy 20 minutes. Sydney-by-the-Sea and Butchart Gardens are a quick 10 minutes. I will be recommending Wolfshire to friends and family that will be staying in the area. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Fantastic garden beauty, great hosts!!

Very enjoyable in every aspect. The garden was plentiful with raspberries and fresh tomatoes and herbs. The 2 miniature donkeys were fun to pet and enjoy watching. The bedrooms bathrooms and kitchen are well-stocked. The outside decks provided beautiful views of the surrounding area and great places for conversation and dining. I would highly recommend this facility anyone.

It could not have been any better!

An amazing farm with many spots where you can relax, a beautiful garden with a pond and blooming flowers everywhere, all kinds of birds, cute donkeys, nice view on the Olympic Mountains. Nothing was missing in the suite, it was clean and very nicely furnished and the kitchen was fully equipped. Our host was most kind and very welcoming. Wonderful place we'd go back to anytime! Have no doubts about it!

About the host

Host profile image
My name is Kenna and I am the new owner of this absolutely gorgeous property. I was born in Kelowna but have lived in many places in British Columbia before finding my forever home here on the Saanich Peninsula. I am a retired Assistant Director from the Vancouver Film Industry. Apparently retirement for me, means buying a large piece of property with an amazing garden, pastures, a forest and two adorable donkeys. I know that it will not be long before I bring home a couple of horses to add to my family. Meanwhile, it's Mantia and Anna, the donkeys; Rosie and Hunter, my dogs; and Monkey, my cat. My friend and partner Michael has joined me in becoming hobby farmers and hosts to the two lovely vacation rental suites that are part of the property. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and learning about where they come from. I have found that in my travels through life, it is the people I meet who make memories special and make me smile. The property is a perfect meeting place to make new friends, share the serenity and beauty of the land, and welcome what-ever and who-ever life has to offer.

Why they chose this property

WolfShire is an incredibly special property. It is a South-facing, heritage farm, perfectly located on the lower slopes of Mt. Newton. The rising sun on one side of the property brings with it a chorus of birds welcoming you to the day. The singing of the Towhees, Flickers, and Juncos combine with the rat-a-tat-tat of the woodpeckers and the hum of the Hummingbirds to serenade the morning activities of the farm. The view from the property reaches as far as the Olympic Mountain range in the US and as close as the water of Brentwood Bay and the pastures of adjoining farms. The property has one of the most beautiful gardens I've ever seen on a private residence, definitely could be called a Mini Butchart Gardens. At the top of the property is our very own forest. The sound of the wind in the tall fir, cedar and arbutus trees is magical. It is easy to imagine little forest faeries watching you as you take a break, walk the grounds, touch a 200 year old tree and feel its strength and history.
The stable and surrounding pastures are currently home to two adorable donkeys, Mantea and Anna. When the previous owners relocated, the donkeys decided to stay so that they could provide a calming presence and a ton of cuteness to WolfShire with their big brown eyes, and giant donkey ears. The property enjoys bright all day sunshine and stunning evening pastels as the sun sets over Brentwood Bay. Resident eagles and hawks soar overhead. The property lends itself to either quiet reflection or friendly interaction with those sharing the space. Whatever one desires, the property will deliver.

What makes this property unique

WolfShire offers the unique opportunity to stay on a happy hobby farm. It is ideally located for trips into historic Victoria. Visit the Parliament Buildings, the excellent Provincial Museum, have tea at the Empress Hotel, and check out the many shops and galleries found in the city. The Saanich Peninsula is home to a variety of wineries, breweries and a cider house. The area is packed with local farms offering produce, flowers, meat and fish. There are farmers markets to explore. The lovely town of Sidney by the Sea is a ten minute drive away. The nearby oceanside provides endless beaches to visit. Rent a kayak or canoe and explode the area from the water. Head out on a Whale Watching Tour for a chance to meet resident orcas, dolphins and other marine life. Hike trails in John Dean Park, just 5 minutes from the property. A day could include tours and shopping and dining, or it could be used to read, nap or wander the gardens and photograph birds and flowers. It is all optional, and it is all up to you. It is more than okay to simply relax and soak in the serenity of WolfShire, guilt free!
