About this property

Located 10 minutes from downtown Crescent City and the Smith River, our home sits atop a hill that overlooks the ocean and is perfect for a private and relaxing holiday. Connected by a catwalk, the property has two separate units. The main house has a master suite, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a family room located downstairs, perfect for a game night with the family. Upstairs is the kitchen, dining area, bar and a half bath, with a wrap-around deck. Head out to the deck to watch the sun slowly set on the Pacific, prepping you for a relaxing night gazing at the stars.

Across the catwalk, the guest suite has a bedroom, bathroom and living area. Great addition for an extra couple or someone who needs a bit more privacy.

Our property is located on 6 1/2 acres with a 600 ft. long paved, curved, gated driveway. *The driveway is very steep*. Views stretch from Crescent City Harbor to Brookings, Oregon, including Castle Rock and Pt. St. George Lighthouse visible from the front balcony.

Family Vacation to Redwoods

Our stay was very nice. It was a vacation/gift to my parents from their 4 adult children A vacation with just the six of us in over 30 years. The house accommodated us very well. A few minor things but overall was nice. The driveway made me very nervous as I am a flatlander - it was the steepest I have ever had to drive, but we did it (some of our group would opt to walk down so not to be nervous). Close to redwoods parks. A very nice stay.

Perfect Location for our Redwoods Vacation

The property was in a perfect location for our Redwoods vacation. Very close to many National Forests and Parks. The view from the deck was incredible. You can see the ocean by day and beautiful sunsets at night. The driveway is even steeper than we imagined but it's in great shape so we had no issues. The only watch out was we had a couple mid to upper 70's days and it got really hot in the house and there's no AC. There are fans and we closed all the blinds and got some air moving but it was still too hot to sit inside comfortably. Thankfully, the wrap around deck was super nice in the shade and there are plenty of chairs to hang out there. Would definitely stay here again!

Short trip to the Redwoods

We loved the house on the hill for our stay! Even though we were only there one night it was a beautiful property and had room for our 8 guests. The driveway was steep but very well kept. It’s worth it for the beautiful view from the house! Everything was clean and as described in the features. I wish we could have spent more time here to enjoy the property!

Amazing all the way around! The views the location was just amazing! Words and pictures do no justice to this place! I highly recommend this home!!! My family and i almost didn't want to go and explore other local activities just because the home was soooo amazing! If i could rate this home 100 stars i would! The home was also very very clean and well stocked with everything you need! We want to thank the host for allowing my family and I to stay in their beautiful home and make unforgettable memories! Thank you! We are planning to return to this home! We cant wait!

Redwood Hideout

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The main house and additional guest house was a perfect fit for our family of ten. The views of the forest, ocean, and sunsets were unbelievable from the deck and the location of the rental was ideal for spending time in Crescent City, visiting the area beaches, seeing the Redwoods, and swimming in the Smith River -- all highlights of our trip. I have to mention the driveway as it is something unlike anything I've ever seen. Totally doable in our full-size car and minivan, but pretty steep. The views it affords though totally pay off plus it makes for a good workout if you're into that type of thing while on vacation.

Stunning views, unique stay

The property is in a great location for exploring the redwoods, the NorCal Coast, and southern Oregon coast. It was very clean, and had everything we needed for a fun and relaxing few days exploring. Accommodations in the area are limited, and if you don’t want to camp this house makes an excellent alternative for those who still want to enjoy all that the surrounding area has to offer. Yea the driveway is very steep and winding but we had no problems with it. We felt very safe up on the hill and the property felt super private. The views were absolutely incredible, and we felt like we were in a treehouse of sorts. Only a few suggestions: the screen doors need replacing, wish the guest house had a king bed (there is room!), and the beds all creak loudly. But the AC, cleanliness, views, and overall space make up for any small quirks!

The house is very nice. The view is amazing! When they say the driveway is steep, it's no joke. After the first up/down it wasn't too bad. You need to get up there to benefit from the amazing views.

Crescent City for the first time

We were there for a wedding and I must say we couldn’t be more excited with the house. Location is perfect with beautiful views outside the all around balcony the house offers . It is true that the road leading to the house is very steep like everyone was saying but it was worth it. Would definitely recommend it to anyone going there visiting!

Beautiful views

The property manager for this rental was fantastically responsive, allowing us to book this last minute when another property fell through. Beautiful views from the kitchen/dining room. I think the bed in the master is the comfiest I've ever slept on. The drive thru the redwoods to the property are majestic. As noted, the driveway is steep but makes a great place to get some exercise if you walk up and down a couple of times, watching for hummingbirds. Loved it.

Beautiful Views, In the Heart of Redwoods

The house is located in the heart of redwoods, and only 10 mins to Jedediah State Park (where we saw HUGE redwood trees) and 10 mins to the coast in Crescent City (where we spent hours hunting tide pools for starfish - and found MANY!) They are currently doing some work on the deck of the house, so a lot of that was roped off and didn't feel exactly safe. But, we enjoyed the view from the huge windows just as much. The house is located at the top of a VERY steep driveway, with hairpin turns. Our Jeep Wrangler handled it fine, but it was a little intimidating and I would worry that not all cars would handle it well. All in all, the house is an awesome location, clean and the host was very responsive. We truly enjoyed our quick trip!

Great location, beautiful views

We loved our stay in the nicely maintained main and guest house. Main house has a beautiful views of forest and ocean in the distance. Very clean and modernized interior. Great kitchen. Driveway is very steep and windy as indicated in ad but was ok for our cars. Would definitely recommend this property and looking forward to visiting again. Location is perfect to visit Jedediah Smith State park.

Great views and close to the redwoods.

House layout has 3 bedrooms on the ground level: Master bedroom with private bath (shower) and 2 bedrooms with shared bath (tub/shower combo). The 4th bedroom is across the catwalk on the 2nd level (shower). There is just the spiral staircase in the house going to the 2nd floor kitchen, sitting room and deck. House can use some updating but was clean and worked for our needs. Host was easy to work with. Like many have said, the driveway is very steep and can be slick with rain. Lovely views.

Tranquil Crescent City Hillside Property

This quiet getaway set amongst towering fir trees with spectacular views of Lake Earl provided a tranquil base for our 2 day visit to this beautiful part of North California. Relaxing with a beer on the veranda and enjoying the late afternoon sun was a highlight for us. We would highly recommend staying in this property.

Private Gateway to The Redwoods

This home was far greater than we imagined. It is only 10 min. away from Jedediah Smith Park and it has amazing views of the forest and bay. Perfect to see amazing sunsets and a fog covered forest. This is the property we will always want to come back to when visiting The Redwoods. The drive way up to the house itself is a beautifully steep journey into the redwoods.

Crescent City family getaway

Overall we enjoyed the property stay: location and spacious entertaining quarters were excellent. We had a rainy day where we were cooped inside and couldn’t have picked a better location in which to do so. We enjoyed watching the storms and rain from our cozy abode atop the hill. We could gauge the storm intensity by whether or not we could see the ocean! With a few improvement this place would have been even more enjoyable: more comfortable seating indoors on the top floor, a couch would be nice; kitchen was very sparse with needed especially: more serving bowls, more cutting boards, knife sharpener, scissors, teapot, resupply of paper towels—the roll was only partially full when we got there ; the manager was very responsive when we asked about a coffee grinder, she very kindly brought us one. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and were sad to leave this hideaway near the coastal redwoods.

Awesome views

We loved the views from this very quiet and private home. It was well equipped, clean, and the beds were comfortable. We didn't expect the driveway to be nearly as challenging as it was. It was super, super steep with hairpin turns, and we almost couldn't make it up in our 12 passenger van. We should have been warned about this. So if you haven't oversized vehicle, or your brakes are not in excellent condition, I would not recommend this property to you.

It’s the little things, not the big ones

The location was lovely, house was on a hill with a gorgeous view and as people have said before it made it feel very private and it was quite serene. Not gonna mention driveway, but yes, it’s scary. Was some occasional reminding of the city around you from various noises. The inside of the house is a mess. Master bedroom heat/cold is inside the closet of the room, wall vent doesn’t work and you basically had to hope that heat ended up ruminating out of the closet. Bedrooms were fairly nice but there were windows that didn’t have any blinds if that is an issue for anyone. Stairs leading up to the kitchen were not only narrow but didn’t feel structurally safe. Shook and creaked on certain steps and I ended up noticing that the whole staircase would move when people were going up. Deck was wet which is to be expected, but several boards up there were broken, as in you could walk on them and they’d sink down a bit. I understand maintenance must be hard with the constant visitors and weather but again like the stairs it did give a worry of safety. House is definitely on the smaller side, I don’t know where the 2700 square feet comes from. The additional guest house which seems to come with the property costs extra and it is simply a bedroom a living room and a bathroom. The main house living room is just big enough for a party of five and beyond that it’d be stretching it. Kitchen was pretty good, sizable and the chairs were comfortable, not even mentioning the gorgeous view of the redwoods and the ocean. Definitely a very peaceful experience up top and it was one of the best memories I had cooking in that kitchen. Onto location, it is amazing. Crescent city is quite close by and you’re also smack dab right next to the amazing redwood forests of the bay. You have the convenience of society and the seclusion of the forest right by each other. Unfortunately I’d say these are great positives but they all lead into my biggest issue with the house itself. The cleanliness. When we checked in there were several spots of the house with dirt or hair, notably in one of the meat drawers in the fridge there was hair and what seemed like dirt. Not only that south of the fridge the freezer was disgustingly dirty as well. One of the toilets in the house had been improperly cleaned and there was fecal matter stained in the bowl. The shower in the main bathroom was still wet. Fun property, lot of issues.

Had a short one night stay and enjoyed our family time at this home. Had some complications come up and the property manager was super helpful in coming up with solutions to remedy the issues. The driveway up to the home is ultra-super steep for a 8 passenger SUV... other than that it was a great place to stay.

Lovely House

We were fortunate to be able to book this home on short notice. It is a lovely home and the views from the kitchen and dining area on the second floor are beautiful. The home is secluded and at the top of a long driveway which has a couple of tight turns - it is quite manageable, but would be difficult if snow (a rarity in crescent city). There is a spiral staircase between the first and second floors, and I would be anxious about having toddlers or small children here. All in all, a lovely location and I would not hesitate to return when I am fortunate enough to return to the redwoods.

House With A View!!!!!!!

We were a group of 7 that came to Crescent City to visit the wonderful hiking areas of Northern California and Southern Oregon. The house was fantastic with killer views of the forest and the ocean in the distance. Point George Lighthouse could also be seen offshore miles out on clear days.
