Our location is perfect for provincial isolation guidelines while affording you the opportunity to stretch your legs with walks on the beach and on our property. Quiet exclusive area approx 1000sq. ft. Living room, dining area and kitchen looking out over the ocean just 100 ft. away. Large bedroom facing south, 2 bathrooms (one is en suite and the other contains a jetted tub). Access to private sandy beach, great for swimming, bonfires, lobster fishing close by for easy access to fresh lobster, located 20 min. from New Glasgow with large modern regional Hospital, 140km from Halifax & Robert Stanfield International Airport.

Grand Slam Stay

Fantastic view and very friendly hosts

We enjoyed every moment, the view can not be put in words. Amenities are great, Art and Stephanie were wonderful hosts. A treasure in Nova Scotia!!! Keep it up Art!

Spacious with a spectacular view

We enjoyed our 8 day stay immensely. We wanted space, a place to cook and to be near water. We got all three. We enjoyed our morning coffee taking in the wonderful view of the water. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare food and cleanup. There was coffee provided too. The apartment is large, the king bed was comfortable, and the shower was oversized. It was a short walk (5 & 10 minutes) to the sandy beaches on either side of the property. It is over the owner's residence but quiet. We never heard any noise from below. Art and family were welcoming and friendly, checking with us when we were coming in and out to make sure we had what we needed. Note, there are stairs. We look forward to returning next year.

Fantastic views!

Very friendly hosts. Nicely equipped accommodation with views towards PEI, Pictou Island and Cape Breton Island. Enjoyed watching eagles and seals. The beach was wonderful!

What a Wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I really enjoyed are time here. The views from the living room are spectacular sunrise and sunset over the Northumberland Strait were just beautiful. We enjoyed the private beach with the mild water temp. Our host and family were just so sweet and friendly. Would love to find ourselves up there again sometime.

Hurricane Fiona made this property unavailable

After dodging down trees, debris on the road and sagging electric lines We arrived at our property to be greeted by an older woman struggling to prepare our rooms in the absence of electricity. The owner was out searching for gas for the generator that would give us some power. So We opted to forgo staying here, but told Them not worry about a refund to us as they had a lot of cleanup to do on the property and needed the money more than we did. What we did see though looked to be a lovely setting for a VRBO: spacious with a grand view of the bay. I SHOULD have called ahead as suggested by VRBO and we would have avoided our disappointment!

It’s all about the view!!

We enjoyed our stay in Chance Harbour! Art is a good host, readily available for questions. I liked that he gave us a tour upon our arrival and showed us how to work the TV etc. The private beach is lovely, we were lucky to have an unseasonably warm day in September to spend on the beach! We would go back if ever up that way! Thanks Art!

Stunning ocean views & welcoming host

This has been our favorite VRBO so far. ( out of about 20 rentals) Something about the sights and sounds of the surf, watching sea gulls and eagles fly around you. Beaches within walking distance, many provincial parks close by, we felt totally spoiled. The host Art was attentive and gave the best tour of the property making sure we had everything we needed.

A peaceful stay in Chance Harbour

The apartment was clean and comfortable, perhaps furnishings could use some updating? But the view was spectacular and the property was very quiet and peaceful, which was exactly what we were looking for. Art went out of his way to be helpful, even providing a teapot as soon as we mentioned it.

Chance Harbor Nova Scotia Cottage

Beautiful upper floor suite - high above the water with a spectacular view of the harbor, Pictou island, sandy beach and more. It's private and quiet. Friends who came to visit us, expressed their impression of the place, with a "Wow" when they saw the view and neat accommodations.

Beautiful oceanside retreat

Fantastic location with full panoramic view overlooking the Northumberland Strait. Excellent private beach just steps away, another nice (public) beach a short walk away. Beautiful and quiet. When we stayed there were deer nearby and a bald eagle visiting right on the edge of the property. Art was a great host - not intrusive but always cheerful and available.

BEST PLACE WITH BEST VIEW

THIS APARTMENT WAS MORE THEN WE HOPED FOR. FROM THE WARM WELCOME BY ART WHEN WE ARRIVED TO THE SPECTACULAR VIEW, LOVELY BEACHES, SPECTACULAR STAR GAZING, AND COMFORTABLE BED..... WE WERE SO HAPPY WITH THIS STAY. IT TRULY WAS A PERFECT STAY FOR US AND WE WOULD COME BACK FOR SURE. THANK YOU ART!!!

Great place!

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The hosts were great for answering questions and offering information for area attractions and restaurants . Beautiful private beach. Gorgeous view! Unit was well equipped. Our only complaint is that there was no air conditioning and it was very hot our first two nights.

Out of the way Getaway

Beautiful ocean view, short walk to beach; we sat and watched the tide for hours - it was beautiful and peaceful! Loved the big bathrooms and tub with jets was wonderful! Nice private apartment - perfect if you enjoy being away from the touristy hustle.

Fabulous view and location

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay, central to everything and the beach was beautiful for relaxing and enjoying the sunshine, as well as the sunset. View from the cottage is spectacular

Incredible view and great beach!

This is a huge one-bedroom apartment with spectacular ocean views. It is a quick walk down to a private, sandy beach. The host is very friendly, accommodating and he is there to answer any questions you may have.

Splendid location

My wife and I spent 9 wonderful days in the apartment on the second floor of Art Gillespie's very large house. The view alone is "worth the price of admission". The apartment is very spacious and in addition to the ensuite, features a large, modern ,well appointed bathroom. The only drawback was that the deck is too small, but Art is going to enlarge it which will greatly enhance the viewing pleasure of future clients. There is not a direct access to the beach in front of the house, but a short walk in either direction provides access to a Sandy Beach. Besides the physical setting, what really made our stay enjoyable was the friendliness and helpfulness of Art and his "posse" : family members and Gus, the clever handyman. We went for a 2-hour tour with Art to his farm in the rolling hills of Pictou county. Along the way he pointed out the many beautiful and interesting features and history of that part of Pictou County . Art is an excellent tour guide and raconteur par excellent, with an engaging sense of humor. Whether or not we get back to Nova Scotia , we will always have fond memories of our stay on Lewis road In Chance Harbour.

We had a blast of super vacation with 5 stars all around for : - the kind and responsive owners - the sunrise/sunset views from 5 picturesque windows - the adorable, almost empty beach 100 m away (there is also a more populated one if one so desires) where one can swim in crystal clear water - the animal kingdom of owls to be heard , seals to be seen and many more nature wonders - the tranquility of the place We will be back next year if Effie and Arthur will have us

Idyllic little spot

Fantastic spot for a beach getaway. You are literally 2 min walk from a sandy beach, and short drive from two gorgeous provincial parks. Water was surprisingly warm. Easy access to groceries and restaurants. Hosts are very friendly.

Born and raised in Pictou County. I am a retired home builder with a degree in Industrial Engineering. I am 75yrs old married for 52yrs and have lived here since1980.

This property is appraised at $900,000 and was rebuilt by myself over the years. It has two separate entrances, one of which is to this unit.

What makes this property unique

Located across the Northumberland Strait from PEI, in fact we are only a 20 min drive to the PEI ferry. We are 15 min drive to two 18 hole golf courses. On a clear night you can see among the stars the flights going to Europe but you can't hear them, matter of fact you can't hear anything at night except maybe the loons on a nearby lake or the frogs.
