This stunning home has a few new features: a propane fire pit on a large flagstone patio and a covered all-weather log porch with a Marquis 6 person Hot Tub! This is an amazing one-of-a-kind home and is THE classic Tahoe getaway. The Log Lodge is full of creature comforts and tasteful appointments. High quality mattresses, double pane windows, fully remodeled kitchen, quality appliances, and artistic Old Tahoe decor make this the most comfortable AND classic log home in Tahoe.
Enjoy the original large slate fireplace and “Kings Truss” open-beam ceiling in the great room; a hidden bookcase doorway to a secret bedroom, a slate (digital) steam shower, cozy built-in bunk beds, and quality linens, pillows, and throw blankets in every room. The loft bedroom upstairs has a queen bed and writers desk.

This mountain retreat is located on a forested and fenced 2.5 acre property on the magical West Shore with space to spread out, play outdoor games and wander among the wildflowers. Lake access is available at numerous parks, including the magnificent Sugar Pine Point State Historic Park. The Homewood ski area is less than 5 minutes away, and awesome sledding is just up the road at Granlibakken. The circular driveway is snow plowed all winter, and there is covered parking for two cars. You will be happy you made the Log Lodge a part of your Tahoe experience, and perhaps a new tradition!

Overview of Log Lodge
1. Excellent Location. Easily accessable to Lake Tahoe at Chambers public beach - dogs welcome on beach. 2. Home had large private lot and fenced dog area. 3. Lighting of the house was very dim. Needs higher watt light bulbs. 4. Primary bedroom bath whirlpool did not have a safety grab rail. Easy to slip getting in and out of the deep tub. 5. Gill and fire pit worked well. 6. Kids had fun with the pool table.

Cute and quirky but cozy cabin
We really enjoyed our stay in this unique home. We had a few issues that were attended to quickly by management. I was told the home was walking distance to the beach, but I did not realize it was across the main road from the beach which meant the kids could not walk alone. The kitchen was well-equipped for all of our cooking needs. The beds in the second and third rooms were small for couples, but Ok for the kids. The outdoor space was very inviting and we enjoyed using the jacuzzi and sitting around the propane fire pit. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of the cabin and learning about the history behind it. Overall we would use this property again. The only reason I give it a 4/5 is because it is challenging to have to go through Tahoe City to pick up the keys and return them. A simple code lock could fix that. Also, there are some issues with the home that need to be fixed (ie; plumbing in second bath and the front door locking mechanism). These were just minor inconveniences though. We still enjoyed our stay very much.

Log Lodge Weeklet
This is a lovely home and well appointed, 5 minute walk to Chambers beach. The house is spacious and full of interesting knick knacks, memorabilia and games. Lots of backyard space to enjoy as well. It is a bit dark and there is some noise from the road but when you're inside it is quiet.

Log Lodge
Our niece had selected Tahoe West Shore for her wedding location. We were looking for a comfortable and charming location that would accommodate my wife and I and our two sons and their wives. Being familiar with Tahoe, mostly State Line and South Shore we wanted to find something unique to make our trip to West Shore memorable. After reviewing several rental offerings via VRBO we selected "Log Lodge" based on the pictures and previous reviews. I must say that the booking and rental agreements went very smooth and were straight forward. Wells & Bennett Realtors were on top of our reservations from the beginning and when I needed to change them a little to accommodate flights they handled it immediately for us without questions. Their rental app kept us abreast of all the information needed for check-in as well as top suggestions for dinning and things to do. The Log Lodge was everything we had hoped for and was clean and accommodating. The furnishings were wonderful and the owner has done a wonderful job renovating! You can get lost in reading about all the nostalgia and journey of the Log Lodge which is part of the rustic furnishings. To top it off Wells & Bennett Realtors contacted us right before we left and informed us that they had just completed a new stone patio and installed a beautiful hot tub under a log overhang and to make sure we brought our suits. The hot tub addition was and is truly remarkable and was enjoyed by all. I would not hesitate to recommend the Log Lodge to anyone but a quick note: remember this is a log home and closet spaces are at a minimum but I can assure you the setting and furnishings makes up for that. Would love to see the place when it's snowing :)

Unique and novel place to stay with great outdoor views
The lodge is quite amazing--from the decorations to the bedding (the bedding was fantastic), we enjoyed a multi-family Thanksgiving celebration there. If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen is very well-equipped. The hosting and clear instructions of the rental company were also very organized. It's a one-of-a-kind experience, loaded with antique photos, a Victrola!, snooker table, lots of antique-y decor. I would caution against kids under 3--there is a lot within reach that they could break. You would be spending your time telling them not to touch things. The only drawback was cleanliness. Though most of the house and bathrooms were clean, the kitchen was not. There were crumbs on the floor, table and counter; coffee and grounds in the coffee pot, crusty food on the cutting board. Because we were cooking Thanksgiving dinner, we had to give it a going-over before we started. It seemed inconsistent with how the rest of the house was maintained, so I'm guessing it was an oversight before the holiday season.

Perfect Family Gathering Spot
We rented the home for Christmas for our family, and had a wonderful time! Plenty of space for our three adult children and their spouses, plus our dog. Very cozy, all the conveniences you need, and amazingly decorated. We definitely want to visit again sometime! The steam shower was a hit with everyone :-)

Pros and cons depending on personal needs/taste
We just wrapped up our week-long stay at the Log Lodge on 7/29/17. Here are the highs and lows... Pros: Great for kids - they loved the fire pit, pool table, dart board, chess board and the short, safe walk to the beach. Good location - close to small market as well as many beaches, and nearly midpoint to both South and North shores. Kitchen - very well equipped, and as an avid cook I am picky about this. They did not disappoint! Beds - very comfortable!! Cons: Dark and a bit cluttered - There are dark curtains on every window and it is difficult to fully brighten up the place with outside sunlight. Every corner and surface seems to be covered with furniture, bottles, knick knacks, etc. This rental is not for you if you like clean, bright, open spaces with little clutter. Screens - It was somewhat warm the week we were there, yet we couldn't open all of the windows due to lack of screens. Some had screens while many did not. Housekeeping - the house was clean enough to get by, but not fully clean. Corners and certain areas could use a bit more attention. Kitchen storage - there are no cabinets set aside for food storage, so all food brought in must be strategically placed in different areas to keep it out of the way.

Great property and a funky cabin
We loved the size of the property, especially it being fenced in. Our dog loved it an it was great for outdoor activities like frisbee tossing and evening roasting of marshmellows. The locations is perfect, walking distnce to the beach and the Tahoe wilderness trails. The cabin was good, well stocked and clean. It is an intersting place, which was amuzing and fun to experience. The architecture of it with awesome log cabin beams is really cool. It was like staying at a museum with all sorts of antique like nicknacks. If you don't like clutter, it may be a bit overwhelming. Loved the steam shower!

Perfect Tahoe Cabin
The log lodge is exactly what a log cabin should be. Beautifullly decorated rustic, cozy, and comfortable. Great kitchen, comfotable beds, lots of extra blankets to snuggle up on the couch. The shower sauna was great after a day on the slopes. The cabin is very spacious, great for families, large groups, and allowed our dog.

Log Lodge
We had a wonderful stay at the Log Lodge! We loved the history behind the building of the lodge and all the period decor. It was very comfy and leaving was sad as we all had such a wonderful time. We enjoyed using the steam sauna after skiing. We skied at Homewood which made it super convenient. Your staff was well informed and helpful to us. A few recommendations: Have the BBQ Grill brought into the carport for use during the winter months as we had to go out ans purchase a grill. Also, the Wifi was not working properly as we were able to connect however we could not get reception. Therefore unable to watch movies from Netflix or Hulu. The dishwasher was not working and I noticed a puddle of water in the inside the first night. The cleaning person or handyman should double check these things. The front door was a little problematic even after he fixed it. Thank you, Sonia Pedlar

Beautifully restored log cabin perfect for a cozy and festive Thanksgiving!
We enjoyed our Thanksgiving holiday at this beautiful cabin- it was perfect for a group of 5 adults and five children ages 1-13. The kids had a blast and the cabin was the ideal backdrop for an unforgettable holiday with loved ones! Kids especially enjoyed the "play house" in the back!

Wonderful Cabin!
The Log Lodge was great. Really comfortable and great for large groups. The place is really well appointed and has lots of history. We'll come back. Perfection.
There is honestly no other cabins that can compare to this one. We had 6 people and a dog with us and had the best time ever. I've been looking for a cabin to go back snowboarding in February and the log lodge is booked. While sad searching for other cabins, nothing comes close. It had just snowed the day before we got there and looking out into the backyard to fresh powder was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It looked fake it was so beautiful! When we pulled in the driveway, no one believed me that it was the cabin! Can't wait to come back!

Christmas in Tahoe
We rented the Log Lodge for the week of Christmas, 2014. Two parents, two adult sons with one wife and one girlfriend, and two grandchildren spent a wonderful week at this unique home. Probably the most relaxing Christmas ever. The home, according to the tract map on the wall, sits on 3 acres of land. Lots of room to run around, explore, play in the snow. When we arrived, there was some snow on the ground, but we had snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. For small children, there's a little hill across the street which was perfect for sledding. Older children would probably want to seek larger hills, but for us, it worked out great. The home, and in particular the kitchen, has everything you need including a blender, microwave, all the utensils, baking and cooking supplies for pretty much anything you feel like cooking. There's also a gas grill if you want to BBQ. The home was so comfortable for us. The sofas and big and comfortable in front of the huge fireplace. We ordered firewood before we arrived from Jason (530) 386-0415 and it was waiting for us when we got to the cabin. We ordered a mix of hard and softwood and that worked out perfectly. The fireplace doesn't have a gas hook up so you need to build the fire from kindling. There's an ax and cutting area available to cut the wood down. The location is perfect on the west side of the lake. 15 minutes from Tahoe City and a short drive to Homewood. About half an hour from Squaw Village, so you have everything you could want to do nearby. It's not directly on the lake, but there's a 20'-wide easement that allows access to the lake across the street. The home is filled with all kinds of antique memorabilia - some of it relating to the history of the house, and some of it just interesting. Everyday we'd discover some thing new we hadn't noticed before. For Christmas dinner, we ate at the Sunnyside Cafe, just a few miles away, and had a great dinner, with great service. Figure about $40 per person for dinner. We would definitely go back to the Log Lodge and can recommend it highly!

We choose staying at the Log Lodge (or as we like to call it "Shangralodge") because of the great location, the comfort, ease and great rate. The interior decoration is fun and cooking either indoors or out is hassle free. Staying at the lodge recharges our batteries.

Awesome Vacation!
My family had a wonderful stay at "Log Lodge". We stayed for 3 nights in December. Perfect location. Close to skiing and sledding. The kids had a blast. My husband and I enjoyed relaxing in front of the gorgeous fireplace and watching the snow fall. The cabin was clean and beautiful. Comfortable beds. Loved the shower! The kitchen had everything I needed and more. We can't wait to return next year.

Logs with Luxury
They broke the mold when they built this place. We stepped through the door and back in time, yet somehow totally luxurious. Authentic and tasteful log lodge furnishings; not even a little tacky. Very well maintained and very clean upon arrival. Has a grand desk if you really have to work, but sleeping on the killer couch by the stone fireplace is better.... The large property is very private, with great outdoor spaces to hang out as well; and for the kids to run around and decompress. All you see out the windows is beautiful forest. You wouldn't know you're just minutes from Homewood skiing, restaurants, etc. The best of Tahoe without the tourist crush. Can you find the hidden door behind the bookcase?
