About this property

Hilltop Cottage With Room To Spare

Comfortably fitting 14, the cottage allows you to get away with all the loved ones. Enjoy the water or explore the ridge, either way, you won't be bored. Unplug from the bustle of the city and just relax!

Time to get away to the cottage, your home away from home! Our house is outfitted with a genuine cottage feel, the entire dwelling is finished in pine. This 6 bedroom home comes with the beds freshly dressed with clean linens, along with towels for bathing and the beach.

If this is your first visit to the Loring-Restoule area, welcome! There are plenty of reasons to keep you coming back year, after year. Hilltop Cottage is located in the heart of Port Loring, park your vehicle and explore via foot. We are within walking distance of all the amenities the town has to offer, including, local eateries, LCBO, boat tours, and more.

Organizing travel for many can be a daunting task, figuring out who’s bringing what and answering the time old question ‘do we have everything’. Our fully stocked kitchen will put your mind at ease when considering your meals. Enjoy grilling all-year-long, on the covered porch with a BBQ (propane provided).

The deck wraps around the house, making the morning wake with your coffee just a little easier. Lounge in one of several Muskoka chairs or take refuge under the gazebo, either option includes a breathtaking western view of Lake Wilson.

The house has activities for all ages. Starting outside, the field is groomed and equipped to enjoy many favourites including, volleyball, badminton, soccer, hockey, dodgeball, bocce, frisbee, and more. If you want to take your fun down to the water, the house includes 2 canoes, a pedal boat, life jackets, and other water toys. We are only steps to the beach at Port Shores, the Government Dock, or the boat launch. The beach is beautifully graded with a shallow gradual entry. The dock is great for diving and jumping off, with easy ladder access to start all over. The lake is clean and invites a weed-free swim. If you are bringing your own boat, there is docking available with seasonal and weekly rental rates.

For the Winter months, explore the frozen waters by foot or snowmobile. Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (District 11 area route map), has trimmed trails to enjoy.

Sometimes Mother-Nature forces us to play inside - not to worry - the games room is furnished with a pool table, satellite TV, DVDs, board games, books, and more.

The stars shine brighter in the north! Bring your nights to an end finding the constellations while enjoying everyone's company around the fire. All the things Cottage memories are made of!

Perfection in Port Loring
Three generations enjoyed our annual family get away at Hilltop Cottage. From booking to arrival to departure Melanie was responsive and easy to deal with. She went out of her way to make it really special for our granddaughters with the purchase of a wading pool for the deck. The cottage was absolutely spotless! No issues letting the 8 month old crawl everywhere (except the dog bowl; also a nice touch to have 2 provided). The small beach is just a short walk. Sand for the kids to play and calm, clear water with sandy bottom for everyone to enjoy. But the cottage is the highlight of the trip. Comfy beds, great layout for extended family sans dog, clean bathrooms and well appointed kitchen. If they don't have it, you don't need it. Fridge/freezer combo were empty and ready for us to fill. Also a chest freezer (empty) for our use was appreciated. A huge, clean BBQ on the deck really impressed the men in the group and they used it, a lot!! The loft with TV (movies galore and XBox games), pool table, loads of board games and bar fridge made our one rain day very enjoyable. We highly recommend Hilltop Cottage whether you're looking for a week of tranquility or a week of fishing, fun and games (or a bit of both). It's there and it's fabulous!!! Thanks Melanie for a wonderful, memory filled family vacation.

We just got back and had a wonderful time
The owners were great and kept us up to date with anything we needed to know. Place was clean and well maintained. Close to the beach. Our family took advantage of how close we were to some provincial parks.. Only thing that I would suggest is a larger table in the front room so a large family like us could eat together

very pleasant
We had a very nice, comfortable week. The property is filled with things to do and we utilized many of the toys. Thanks. A couple issues would be surface cleanliness is awesome but under furniture where infants seem to go needs attention. The upstairs shower head could be de-calciated or replaced and one kitchen chair is wonky.. Other than that the place is terrific and we enjoyed our stay.

A great spot for a big group
The one thing I appreciated about the hilltop was the communication with Melanie. She was very easy to connect with and any concerns or issues that our group had, she quickly addressed them. We had some issues with a few things but Melanie was very fair to address them Plenty to do at this property, rain or shine. The house itself had many amenities to keep you busy, from the outdoor volley ball and ladder ball to water rights and a pool table in the rec room. We had young children with us and they had a blast. There are canoes and a pedal boat for use and the launch is just a short walk away. There is also a beach down the street, it is not too elaborate but perfect and calm for younger children. The neighbours were all very friendly. Everyone greeted us with hellos and smiles. We even borrowed sugar from one of the houses. The house is equipped with pretty much everything you need, which makes planning a get away that much more simple. Thanks Melanie for a memorable vacation.

Excellent Vacation ... home away from home
This Cottage on the hill more than met our expectation. The house was clean and well equipped. There was plenty of grass area for my grandson to run around. Adults and teens made use of the volleyball net in the back yard. The cottage is just a short walk to the beach. Loved having use of our own canoe. The residents in the town were very friendly. The owners were very responsive before booking, after booking and while we were there. I highly recommend.

Roomy, clean, nice property.
As above. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The only issues related to dull knives, no spatula, no large bowls for mixing and beating ingredients, one stove element was missing, no Netflix or cable TV, Kevo locks didn’t work. We had to phone and email the owner a few times - she was very nice and tried to be helpful.

LOVING PORT LORING
THE OWNERS ARE SO LOVELY AND PROMPT TO RESPOND TO ANY QUESTIONS YOU ASK. THE PROPERTY AND HOUSE ARE WELL MAINTANINED. THE NEIGHBOURS ARE OVERALL PLEASANT. THE NEIGHBOUR TO THE LEFT ON THE HILL (AS YOU PULL INTO THE DRIVEWAY) LIKE TO TELL YOU WHERE YOU CAN PARK- IGNOR THEM! THE TOWN IS FREINDLY, PLAYED BINGO ON TUESDAY NIGHT, WENT TO THE MARKET ON WEDNESDAY MORNING...AND VISITED THE GIFT SHOPS AROUND TOWN. THERE IS A NEW BUILDING THAT JUST OPENED BY WILSON LAKE-THAT HAS QUICK FOOD, ICE CREAM AND A GIFT SHOP. IT WASN'T FULLY OPENED LAST WEEK- THE GIFT SHOP HAS VERY UNIQUE ITEMS. JACK'S AND ROXIE'S ARE GREAT DINER'S -BUT- EXPECT TO WAIT QUITE A WHILE FOR YOUR MEAL (WELL WORTH THE WAIT.) BEST BET IS TO GO FOOD SHOPPING IN NORTH BAY AND COOK YOUR MEALS. MELAINE AND MIKE (THE OWNERS) WERE THE MOST WONDERFUL HOSTS- THEY RENT TO ANYONE WANTING A WONFERFUL TIME AWAY "IN THE STICKS." I FEEL COMPLETELY RELAXED AND REFRESHED.
