Welcome to your Windswept Hideaway! Comfortable and beautiful, every detail in this lovely townhome is designed to enhance your Outer Banks vacation! Perfect for couples and small families or groups and within walking distance to the beach. Sparkling clean with fresh linens, convenience size toiletries and a wide selection of coffees and teas for use with our Keurig. Prefer a conventional drip coffee maker or tea pot? We have those, too! You'll find everything you need in the kitchen if you prefer to cook your own meals. Roku TV in the living room and master bedroom with strong WiFi throughout. Enjoy your morning coffee or evening cocktails on the private patio! Cleaned and disinfected over and above current CDC standards after every guest for your peace of mind.

Amazing!

Sandie and her rental are perfect for a little family! My husband and 1 year old stayed here and it was absolutely perfect! The property was clean and SO close to the beach! We will absolutely come back to this property the next time we decide to vacation in Kitty Hawk.

Perfect Host

The property was perfectly clean and very welcoming. Sandie does everything possible to make your stay at her property comfortable and care free. She was very accommodating. Even bakes muffins! I would definitely highly recommend staying at her condo!

A perfect getaway

Beautiful Townhouse

Perfect place

We truly enjoyed our stay at Windswept Hideaway . Sandie was a wonderful host. Everything was immaculate. This charming townhome has everything needed for a great family getaway, games, puzzles etc. Sandie even provided us with blueberry muffins on our arrival. Location was perfect. We look forward to a return visit.

Sweet family retreat!

We were greeted at the property by Sandie, a lovely woman who immediately made us feel welcomed and at home! Several touches of convenience like coffee pods, kitchen spices, complimentary toiletries, and plush towels made you feel welcome, like a guest visiting family! The location was close to everything, but so quiet, never heard any noise from neighbors! A private and sweet patio area off the back slider was wonderful to enjoy our morning coffee or our evening drink. The beds and linens were comfy, clean, and the property was decorated very cozy, with little details of the beach, books for all ages, board games, cards, and movie selections, along with a smart TV to stream apps. Sandie provided several toddler safety items, which was an added bonus for my family! No laundromat on the property, but a quick drive into Roanoke and there's a nice laundromat, so no problem for us! We hope to visit again, and will certainty check this location for availability!! Thank you!!

Even nicer in person than in the photos. Everything was so clean and bright. Back patio is lovely for morning coffee which is provided by host. Thank you for our amazing stay! We love that you offer short stays for those of us that can only visit for a few days. We will definitely return here again!

Fabulous stay and vacation

We have been vacationing in the Outer Banks for 46 years. Sandie's property is by far one the nicest that we have stayed at. She thought of everything including welcome blueberry muffins for our breakfast. The property was even more lovely than we had expected. It is meticulously clean, beautifully decorated and comfortable. It is two stories however, so not handicapped accessible to the 2nd floor but that was not an issue for our stay. We have already planned to return to OBX for next summer and stay at her wonderful property.

Clean and comfortable

Sandie's Windswept Hideaway was a wonderful place. I stayed there with my husband and adult son in early June 2023. It was very clean, bright, and comfortable with updated bathrooms. There were basic spices in the cupboard in case we wanted to cook. There were toiletries and a first aid kit available for our use. Sandie met us there to show us around. Then we had privacy for the duration of our stay. Windswept Hideaway was centrally-located to the activities we had planned. I would highly recommend this place!

Nice stay In Outer Banks

Sandie was so nice for a property’s manager. He gave us gifts when we arrived and was very welcoming to our family. The condo was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Wish it was a beachfront but weather wasn’t so good to swim in ocean anyway. Close to some great food and activities to to instead. Cozy place for family vacation

Nice location, beach is walkable, place is cozy and perfect for a family vacation, would love to stay again! Its not an ocean front property but really close to the beach.

Enjoyed our stay

This property is exactly as advertised! Very clean, located within a reasonable walk to the ocean (if you don’t mind trying to cross 158) and obviously well cared-for by the owner. She also takes time to put out personal touches I’ve never seen from other VRBO properties … the blueberry muffins were delicious! We just took a 3-day weekend but it was a fun stay!

Excellent place to stay in OBX

This place was perfect for the two of us, but would be as great as well, for four people. The condo was spotlessly clean and conveniently located. The owner was wonderful. I would highly recommend checking out this option for an individual, or a small group!

About the host

Hosted by Sandie Markland

My husband of 30+ years and I moved to the Outer Banks after retiring from government service (me) and law enforcement (him) in the Washington, D.C. area. I am an Air Force brat who grew up primarily in and around the Nation's Capitol while my husband drifted into the area from Long Island when he was in in his mid- 20s.

I am now an artist working at stone carving and jewelry making --- an odd combo, I know, but it works for me! I also enjoy photography and some of my photos are on display in our Kitty Hawk property for your enjoyment!

I am also a crazed gardener --- I LOVE to play in the dirt --- and my garden keeps me centered. I suppose gardening is an art form and can be quite an adventure in the crazy climate of this place!

I now longer care to travel myself, but look forward to the opportunity to welcome those who travel to the Outer Banks and hope I can make some small contribution to making your visit here as wonderful as possible!

Why they chose this property

When our sons were young, we vacationed in a townhouse in the same development where our property is located. It belonged to the family of a coworker and worked well for our little family --- we have the fondest, most wonderful memories of our vacations there. When our current unit became available and we made arrangements to take a look, all those fantastic memories came rushing back and we were sold! I have done my best to furnish this home in the brightest, most pleasing way possible.

What makes this property unique

While this home can't claim a location right on the oceanfront, it is a happy and peaceful place in which to rest between adventures --- a great place to enjoy your morning coffee in the privacy of your own little patio (complete with small gardening touches because I can't help myself ...) or cook meals for your family on evenings where you'd like to stay in and enjoy movies, books or board games.
