We just loved staying in the Pink House, we'll definitely be back. Location can't be beat: literally across from the beach, short walk to Kalapawi Market, Island Snow Shave Ice, Buzz's Steak House, kayak and stand up paddle board hire, and a 2 min drive into town for anything else you need. The house itself had everything we wanted, and was very comfortable and spacious by Hawaiian standards, particularly the outdoor space front and back. Plus how cute is the pink?! Some noise in the park opposite the house late afternoon / evenings when sports groups are practicing, but this is so minor and it didn't bother us.
As if possible, this property is even better than depicted. The location literally borders the Kailua Beach Park. Walk out the front door, and across from the driveway is the grass of the park. Nothing but grass and sand between you and the water. The house is immaculate. It feels like a home, not a rental. The style is classic Hawai’ian bungalow, i.e., some odd spaces, but all functional. The large enclosed back porch is really integral to the house, and has 2 comfortable punees for lounging or sleep. We were there in September, and the coolness from the uncommonly found AC was heavenly. When the trade winds would fall off, we’d just close the jalousies and crank up the AC! Plenty of beach toys in the back (could use an update on one or two of the chairs). The carport functions as an outdoor dining area. Sit with your morning coffee and watch the sun rise. The house is well-appointed, with gobs of towels and kitchenware. Our concern over ambient noise from the adjacent Beach Park was unjustified – there is no real noise noticeable from the park at any time. We wanted for nothing, and will happily return.
For our 11-day family vacation, we stayed in the Pink House on Kailua Beach and it was everything we expected it to be and more. We were a party of six spanning three generations ages 4 through 70 and the Pink House suited us quite nicely. The house is a 1950s-style cozy beach cabin with many modern upgrades that shows its age in a few places but was not “run-down” in any respect. The kitchen was compact but amply outfitted with everything we needed. The beds and bedding were clean and comfortable. The house had ample beach & water toys that were put to good use at the world-famous Kailua Beach directly in front of the house. One of the house’s nice features was that hot water was at the ready with two water heaters; one near the bathrooms and indoor showers and the other near the kitchen, laundry, and outdoor shower. The air conditioning also made a nice refuge from the tropical outdoors. We would happily stay in the Pink House again and would be pleased to recommend it to our friends.
Loved the location right across the park from an awesome family friendly beach. The house was clean, with plenty of places to sleep and relax. Walking distance to shave ice, restaurants and a market that has coffee and sandwiches. Overall we were very pleased.
This was our second time staying at the little pink house. We enjoy the location as it’s easy to walk to the beach and to Island Snow or the Market and other shops. We enjoyed everything and the place is great. Our only disappointment is in the beach chairs. Many were broken and unusable but other than that we had a great vacation.
Our host was so accommodating and friendly. The location was perfect. The beach was minutes away and Lanika beach next door had great snorkeling and beach was just as beautiful but Kailua beach had facilities and so fun to swim. The pink house was so spacious and had EVERYTHING we needed. Great place to stay.
We had a truly amazing stay at what we affectionately referred to as the Barbie dream house. The house was perfect, comfortable, clean… etc but the best part was location. Steps to the beach and so much to do on the Kailua side of the island. Walking distance to a few restaurants, market, and shave ice place as well. Highly highly recommended.
Such a classic home. Very clean, so homey and comfortable. Kitchen is fully stocked. The beds & pillows are very comfortable . Great back yard for sunning, if its blowing on the beach. Location is fantastic. Walk to town, or right across the park to the beach. Communication with Angela was so easy and very responsive. Quiet neighborhood. Makes you feel like you are actually living in Hawaii, if only for a short time.
Will be booking again. Mahalo
So close to the beach, a great market, Buzz's restaurant, pill box hike and so much more make this a perfect spot to plant your family flag. We were there in the winter so we didn't need the AC but I would say that is a great investment from the owners for the hotter months. It's a little strange layout with one large room off the living room having two large beds but we were there to just sleep and eat. The kitchen has everything you need and the beach chairs are an added bonus along with the tubes and toys for kids. The price can't be beat.
The Pink House in Kailua is a fantastic property. While everyone else is fighting for parking you can toss a towel over your shoulder and walk across the park and into the water. At night the sounds of the waves breaking lull you to sleep. Communication was great throughout and the house is well kept.
Beautiful open and airy house, spacious backyard and front yard. Hawaiian style home looks across the park lawn to the ocean. Location is in walking distance of everything. Sunrises on the beach very close by are amazing. You can also see the sunrise from the front yard. This house and property can’t be beat. We will definitely be back next year. Effortless check in and check out. property manager was extremely helpful and great to work with. We left our stay!
We enjoyed our time at the Pink House and hope to stay here again! We really liked being able to walk across the lane to Kailua beach. The plumeria trees, beach sunrises, air conditioning, and all the home amenities made this a perfect stay! Thank you Lisa!
Clean house, great yard, best location, responsive hosts…we immediately rebooked which says it all! Love this place.

Best vacation in 2023
Location and description of the property is on point. My only dissatisfaction include the lack of response from Angela, the property manager.
Lisa, the host was most gracious in my request for an earlier check-in and that I appreciated so much. A notecard was left in the home regarding a visit from ADT along with Angela for maintenance to their alarm system the next day at 8:00- 9:00 am. What I asked for was the code to arm the alarm while we ventured out and she told me it’s only armed when the home is vacant. Really? Ok so I wondered why the inconvenience during our vacation? These issues could have been addressed prior to our arrival or once we checked out. It didn’t ruin our stay however just seemed odd. Overall, Lisa the host was most gracious in responding to my texts in a timely manner. The home is beautiful, comfortable and well stocked with towels, kitchen pots and pans and A/C!
Looking forward to a future stay here.
We loved our stay at the pink house. It's right across a park to a stunning beach and the area it's in is the absolute opposite of the tourist trap that is Waikiki! There's a small market within walking distance and great pizza and shaved ice places as well. Buzz's steak house is a 2 minute walk if you want something more upscale/fancy for dinner. The house itself was a traditional single floor Hawaiian bungalow with a lainai containing 2 beds and 3 other seperate bedrooms. There was only 6 of us and so we felt like we had a tonne of room!! The kitchen is great and more then serviceable. The outdoor shower for cleaning off after the beach was essential. Overall we just loved staying here. Also - the main tv was an LG that included Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ and Amazon Prime TV! We had an awesome movie night with the kids every night lol. Very happy with our stay.
Four of us adult family members had a wonderful time at the Pink House for a week. Can’t beat the location. Right across from Kailua Beach. Little neighborhood market about 2 blocks away. Several eating places also a short walk away. The place is so well-appointed and has everything you could need. The beds were very comfortable. Lots of pillows available which I love. Only had one incident on our last full day. Neighborhood had a power outage for about an hour. When it came back on there must have been a surge as the a/c unit in the living room started shooting sparks and flames. Very scary. However the fire dept came right away as did the property manager. She asked if we felt safe to stay and we said yes. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity.
This property was perfect for what we needed it for. It is as advertised 100 yards across from my childhood beach. It was such an awesome experience walking the beach to watch the sunrise every morning! This place is perfect for families or a couple! Will be returning to the "Pink House"
The place was great. Pictures and listing are accurate. Everything was very pleasant. We have a great time and would easily recommend. There was a lot of street and park noise (esp weekends) given proximity to beach. Owner and house manager were both terrific and very responsive. Mahalo!!

I grew up in this house and loved growing up on Kailua Beach. I currently reside in San Francisco. I work in real estate and own residential apartments. I enjoy frequently traveling back to The Pink House in Kailua I also love to travel to Italy (San Remo, Rome, Venice), France (Paris, Nice, Lyon), and the UK (Gloucester, Cardiff, London).
Why they chose this property
The Pink House has been in my family since 1955. It was bought by my parents two years after it was built. I grew up in this house and loved growing up on Kailua Beach. It was my parent's favorite beach so when they had the opportunity to buy this adorable home on the Kailua Beach Park they bought it. This home has had only had 2 owners, and the first owners built it and lived in it for 2 years when they sold it to my family. At the time, we did not have the Pali Tunnel to get to Kailua, just a winding Pali road that hugged the Pali mountain curves and steep cliffs. Since my Dad was a musician who worked nights, we were very happy when the Pali Tunnel was completed. One day my mother requested that we paint the house PINK, that was the beginning The Pink House! We have loved our family home and love sharing it with other families over the years. One of our guests comes from Chicago every year for winter relief. She has been coming for so many years she feels the house is hers during her stay. A lot of visitors feel the same way, very much at home in our home..The Pink House!
What makes this property unique
It is so wonderful to wake up to the view from the big picture window in the living room and look across the park at the beach. It is also pretty cool to just be able to dash across the park to the ocean. Nearby about a blocks walk is a shopping center for shave ice, pizza, paddle board, kayak rentals. Also a short walk to one of Kailua's best and famous restaurant, Buzz's Steakhouse There is also the famous Kalapawai Market which is one block away where you can get food , sunblock , postcards all while you pick up your morning coffee.
