New: charming villa with exotic garden and pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea

First year of rental: nested in the green exotic garden planted with trees and flowers, this Creole exotic wooden villa is located close to the village of Deshaies, a charming fishermen’s village. Its huge covered terrace overlooks the beach of Grande Anse, the most beautiful one in Basse-Terre. Around a large colonial living room, it offers 3 bedrooms (one of which has a toilet), a bathroom, and a fitted kitchen opening onto the covered terrace, where the living room and dining room are located. Bedroom 4 is located on the garden level. It has a private bathroom and opens directly onto the pool. An outdoor red wooden shower nested in the vegetation will give you the opportunity to play Robinson. Fences and gates secure the pool, which is surrounded by a huge deck. The environment is residential. The village and its shops are within 3 minutes by car and the beach within 10 minutes on foot. Rates are indicated with bedroom 4 included. A discount of € 150 to € 230 per (week according to the season) will apply for guests choosing the option without bedroom 4 (2/6 people). There is no Sargassum at all at the villa’s location on the Caribbean coast.

A beautiful creole-style house.
We so enjoyed our stay! The house is truly stunning - built in Creole style with lots of native woods. It was perfect for a family! We spent much of our time relaxing on the large covered veranda with a beautiful view of the tropical garden and the ocean beyond. There was also a great swimming pool and a delightful outdoor shower! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals. It’s a short but very steep walk to the perfect Grand Anse beach with lovely waves to play in and fun beach restaurants for lunch. Thank you!

Tropical adventure
A beautiful villa in a wonderful area of Guadeloupe. We loved the Ti-Punch- Bar, the sunsets, feeding the birds and the tropical thunderstorms and rainbows were amazing. Fans in the bedrooms kept us cool at night and the mosquito nets kept us bug free. We needed bug spray at all times and burnt mosquito coils regularly during the day. The kitchen is very well equipped but we found the microwave/ combination oven/grill less responsive than a larger conventional oven. Our favourite restaurants in Deshaies were the Paradise Cafe and Le Madras. We used both supermarkets regularly but also found Eleclerc on the road to Sainte Rose had a larger selection of groceries. We visited the zoological and botanical gardens and Pigeon Islands, all were fantastic and also snorkelling just off the right hand side of the bay in Deshaies we saw 3 turtles and many giant starfish. We were told there can be as many as 20 turtles in the early morning. The waves at the beach’s were great fun although finding a parking space was somewhat difficult in the afternoon. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenage children and had a brilliant holiday in Isabelle’s delightful villa, we would highly recommend. .

Gros souci dès l’arrivée
A notre arrivée Fabrice nous attendait pour faire une présentation très sommaire des lieux. Il ne s’était pas aperçu que le wifi ne fonctionnait pas et nous avons ensuite appris qu’il faudrait 3 jours pour le réparer. Le lendemain de notre arrivée coupure totale de courant électrique avec 2 enfants et un bébé et la maison ne disposant ni de gaziniere ni de panneaux solaires ni de générateur de secours, nous sommes restes 24 heure sans se laver, sans faire a manger et sans rien voir dans la maison car elle est très très sombre et le temps n’étant pas de la partie, sans lumière on n’y voyait strictement rien. A ce moment la on nous a demandé d’être compréhensifs au lieu de nous venir en aide, aucune dédommagement ne nous a été proposé…Par ailleurs la maison n’a pas de fenêtre. Je pense utile de le préciser pour les gens qui n’apprécient pas particulièrement le reveil par les coqs a 3h du matin ou les moustiques en escadrons toute la journée.Pas de vitres donc des insectes et du bruit. Cela aurait été totalement acceptable par temps sec et avec de la lumière mais dans les conditions que nous avons eues c’était très difficile.

Un séjour merveilleux
Nous avons passé deux semaines vraiment formidable dans cette très belle villa créole. Très bien reçu par Éric nous avons trouvé une maison impeccable avec le nécessaire pour cuisiner. Vue époustouflante sur la mer et la végétation tropicale. Très jolie piscine bien appréciée de tous et surtout de nos 3 petits enfants. Un grand merci a Isabelle pour nous permettre de profiter de ce petit paradis antillais

Low season in Deshaies
Beautiful property in Deshaies in Gaudeloupe. The property is built in colonial style, so wooden doors and window shutters when open, allow a cool breeze to waft through the house. Veranda with a sea view was perfect for evening drinks. The hill where the property is located is very (very) steep and when renting a car, definitely get something with a good size engine and all mod cons (reversing camera etc.) which will be needed for any trip around Basse Terre. Philip the property manager was very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area. We did a boat trip with Philip and did a Dearth in Paradis etour with Pelican Safari tours whcih was well worth it. As this was low season, quite a lot of restaurants, shops and bars were not open so keep this in mind if travelling in June.

Très belle villa et emplacement idéal
La maison, surtout la partie supérieure, est très agréable à vivre. La vue sur la mer et sa proximité des plages est très appreciable, même si les déplacement se feront principalement en voiture vu la déclivité. Seul bémol, la qualité de la literie qui devrait être vraiment améliorée.

A little slice of heaven
We couldn't have been happier with Isabelle's lovely home. Beautifully decorated and perfect location just outside of Deshaies and near Grand Anse. Every room opens up to the outside so it's just like being on the deck of a ship or a treehouse in the jungle. Host and the property manager were wonderful and made us feel very welcome and settled in. We will be back to stay in this house on our next trip to Guadeloupe. Highly recommend!!

Très bon sejour
Villa de charme, avec une âme, aux pièces de vie spacieuses et très conviviales .Très bien équipée voire exceptionnellement ! Petit bémol pour le four qui peine à gratiner la Christophine 😇 Nous étions entre amis , la conception traditionnelle de la maison ( pas de murs jusqu' au plafond pour aération du bois rouge ) implique une intimité assez collective A réfléchir pour les groupes d amis J y reviendrai avec grand plaisir Pour l environnement je connaissais bien l endroit Merci pour ce bon début de séjour Nb nous occupions toute la maison y compris la 4 ème chambre où le matelas du lit double mériterait d être amélioré pour des adultes de notre grand âge 🤣

Villa en bois rouge Dehaies
Magnifique maison en bois rouge nichée sur la colline de Dehaies. Vue sur la mer des Caraïbes et à 800m de la plage. La maison correspond 100% a la description avec tout le nécessaire pour y passer un excellent sejour. La personne de contact est très aimable et réactive en cas de questions. Bref, tout est partait pour un séjour magique en Guadeloupe

un petit coin de paradis
Nous venons de passer 2 semaines en famille dans cette villa et nous sommes tous enchantés de notre séjour. Quel plaisir de se réveiller le matin dans cet environnement sublime : vue sur la mer, jardin à la végétation luxuriante où vivent de nombreux oiseaux qui n'hésitent pas à partager notre quotidien, piscine, barbecue.... La villa est magnifique et bien équipée; nous étions 8 personnes (4 couples) et chacun a pu trouver un espace d'intimité. Nous avons profité du matin au soir de la grande terrasse qui a fait office de salle à manger et de salon. Nous avons été accueilli par Philippe, personne très sympathique qui n'a pas hésité à nous donner tous les conseils dont nous avions besoin. Nous n'hésiterons pas à recommander cette villa à nos amis;

A chance to live in a treehouse
This is an absolutely beautiful property -- a chance to live outdoors in a tropical paradise! The kitchen and living area are all on a beautiful outdoor veranda, surrounded by a garden filled with hummingbirds. The house is all wood, smells wonderful, and feels like a treehouse with amazing views of the ocean. Overall, I highly recommend staying here. The only issue we had is that we were three couples, and because the house is so open, I recommend it more for a single family with children. Also, as the house is in a tropical paradise, mosquitoes are a bit of an issue, so be sure to use bug spray at all times. Finally, the property manager, Philip, is part of what makes the property so great - he will be available at all times to make sure you have a wonderful stay.

Beautiful property, great location and faultless service
We stayed in August 2018 as a family of six, plus friend, children aged 12 to 20, and the property was exactly as described, if not better. It is tastefully decorated and feels homely yet relaxed enough for a holiday. The views are amazing, especially at sunset and the area is my favourite in Guadeloupe. The owners were excellent in the booking and planning process and Philip handled every enquiry and question brilliantly on site. We were recommended to hire a car from Gwadloc and they were excellent too!

Nous avons apprécié notre séjour dans cette belle villa pour plusieurs raisons: - d'abord le cadre avec la plage de grande anse, magnifique, - la villa très bien équipée avec une superbe vue - les conseils de Philip bien utiles pour découvrir les plats locaux, pratiquer la plongée etc... Bref, de beaux souvenirs en mémoire!!

Superbe sejour!
Séjour de 12 jours fin avril début mai 2018. Merci à Daniel et à Philip pour son accueil. Région des plus authentique de la Guadeloupe, plage de grande anse a 2 minute en voiture! Villa superbe, belles prestations, au milieu d'un magnifique jardin, on a vraiment l'impression de vivre avec la nature! Sûre avec bébé de 2 ans et enfant de 8 ans. Juste magique de cuisiner avec vue sur le coucher de soleil!! Nous sommes vraiment ravis de notre séjour et encore un peu la tête là-bas ☺ À bientôt j'espère pour une prochaine venue!

We spent New Year at Villa Maya and enjoyed every minute. This villa is outstanding. Perfectly designed so that the breeze blows through the house and the terrace shades you from the sun so you can sit outside and enjoy the views. It is set in tropical gardens and we spent a large part of our week watching and feeding the birds, especially the humming birds. The kitchen is well stocked, like a proper family kitchen rather than a rental house and we all loved the outdoor shower. Beware of the hill if you are renting a car! Very small engines with fully loaded car will struggle! Just perfect - hope to return!

Recently retired from a senior executive position in the trading of materials and from a literary translator position, we split our time between Guadeloupe and France. We love travelling the world (USA, South America, Asia, Australia, New Zeeland, and, of course, Europe). In spite of that, we are always impatient to go back to Deshaies, where we spend 6 months a year. Here, we split our time between swimming, hiking, river excursions and nice times with friends.

Why they chose this property

As retirement approached, we started looking for a place where we could find a counterbalance for our stays in the Parisian region. We naturally thought of Guadeloupe, where we spent our childhood. We both fell in love with Deshaies, its stunning Grande Anse Beach, and its small postcard-like village. Our dream house was waiting for us; it was made of exotic wood with stunning views of the Caribbean Sea. In order to maintain it, we chose to rent it during our stays in France.

What makes this property unique

The infinite blue of the sea as a horizon, the green tropical vegetation as a setting and the soft exotic wood for a total change of scenery. In addition, we live in this house for a large part of the year and we equipped, furnished and decorated it for feeling great. Our guests will find much more than the strictly necessary.
