Quiet 2 bedroom A-frame cabin located 5 miles from East State Street.
Nice and quiet 2-bedroom A-frame cabin available to rent nightly or weekly. Ideal for a weekend getaway in the woods, yet close enough to Athens for anyone visiting our local events. The cabin has 2 bedrooms 1 bathroom and 2 porches with serene, country views. Both bedrooms are upstairs, and the bathroom is downstairs. Located only 5 miles from East State St the cabin is easy to access after the short drive. The two bedrooms are each furnished with a king sized bed. For entertainment the cabin comes equipped with wifi internet, satellite television, DVD player, blue-tooth music player. Amenities include washer/dryer, full kitchen with coffee station, fire pit in private backyard for evening enjoyment. We would also like to note that the stairs to get to bedrooms are steep, we can furnish the livingroom as a bedroom no problem. WE ARE NOT A BUG FREE ENVIRONMENT, we clean like crazy and spray regularly but the cabin has been in the woods for 30 years i promise you will see ladybugs, stink bugs, maybe a wood beetle thing that looks like a roach but i promise is not. Thank you for your interest please messege any questions.

The cabin was nice. The stairs are steep like they say. If you have a dog they might have a hard time getting up and down. It was pretty at night to sit and look at the stars. Overall it was a good place of you want to be in the woods.
We had a wonderful weekend enjoying biking, hiking, and visits to local breweries. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The views from the porches were beautiful. Truly a great visit.

Cabin definitely needs updated and could have been cleaner. Not much lighting inside and very little water pressure in shower. But the bed was very comfortable and it was in a very remote peaceful area. I would stay again bc of the cost, being dog friendly and close to family members.
Real nice place for the price. As advertised stairs are a bit steep, but other than that i would definitely recommend this home to others. Great views. In the country. Very quiet. We will be back.

Unfortunate
The towels were delightful... and that is about all we can say positive about this property. The walls and floor were tilted and leaning. The 3 AC units were so loud one could hardly talk to each other. The stairs were like climbing a cliff face. We were greeted with a nasty odor which we eventually just got used to. The porches were filthy and the furniture was torn apart and run down. The screen door wouldn't close. Several lightbulbs were not working. The toilet seat had paint chips coming off of it. Overall it just did not seem like a clean, sanitary place to stay. Also - this property should not be listed under Hocking Hills area. it was a good 45 minute drive to Hocking Hills.
My family and I had a good time staying here.
Pros: the kitchen was fully-stocked with all pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. that you could possibly need. The oven was brand new, as well as the kitchen counter. The living room had new furniture. The view was completely amazing. Two new decks had recently been built and they were really nice. The location was wonderful. It was quiet and we loved seeing and hearing the wildlife. The owners were very nice and quick to respond to any messages. They left us eggs fresh from their chickens and that was really cool. The beds were both king-sized and very comfortable. We all slept well every night. It's also a plus that they accept pets, as we were able to bring our dog and he enjoyed himself, as well.
For the cons: It was honestly difficult to believe that any sort of cleaning had been done before we arrived. The listing said that all high-touch surfaces are cleaned after each guest, but the refrigerator handle, as well as the inside of it, were very dirty and covered in old pieces of food. We had to clean it before putting any of our food inside of it. I did tell the owners about that and they apologized and said that they were planning on replacing that fridge soon. That wasn't the only thing that was dirty, though. The kitchen table had crumbs on it, the front door was covered in some brown liquid, there were spider webs all over the kitchen, the drawers were not clean inside, the light switches in every room were dirty, the knobs on the oven were dirty, and the floors appeared to have not been swept. The bathroom had dried toothpaste spit on the walls above the sink, and every wall in the cabin was covered with bug dirt. There were a lot of stink bugs in the cabin, as is expected when out in the country, but it would've been nice if their dirt had been cleaned off of the walls. There were trails of it everywhere, including on the wall that the bed was backed up against, so that was pretty gross. The cabin is currently under construction and I can see that they are making wonderful improvements, so I do feel bad even noting these things, but it definitely needed to be cleaned a lot more before we came in for our stay. We had to clean a lot of things ourselves upon arrival. There was also an outlet cover missing in the living room, which was a little dangerous for our child to be near, and the whole place smelled like moth balls, which we quickly got used to. I give this cabin a 3 overall.
Other people were in our cabin. They had made a mistake
It was fine except for the people that had moved into the wrong cabin which created a little extra trouble for us. Maybe house numbers on a sign in the yard
A great place tucked away in the hills outside of Athens.
A nice place to stay for vacation or work trips as the property is is close enough to Athens for convenience but far enough away from to be quiet and secluded. Very dog friendly as they provide food/water bowls, towels for and a nice little mowed walking path to take the mutts for a walk. I'd definitely stay here again if I'm needing a place in the area.
Arrived on Motorcycle had a an issue and homeowner assisted. Was nice and accommodating. Gave us the secluded atmosphere we wanted for our Anniversary Weekend. Would visit again.
The cabin was just what we needed for our motorcycle trip to Athens. The driveway was a little tricky on the motorcycle but that won't stop us from returning. The views were great! The welcoming basket was a nice touch! Grinding my own coffee beans in the morning was a first for me! We were only able to ride 2 of Ohio's Windy 9 so we will be back!!

Really beautiful and quaint! I stayed for a week and ok forward to staying again!
We really enjoyed the cabin. So quiet, peaceful and a verynice place for our 2 dogs. Everything here that you would need for grilling, cooking, ect. Bed and recliners very comfortable. Hosts very accommodating and the Welcome basket was so thoughtful!! Highly recommended!
We were in town for OU graduation so did not spend a lot of that the property. I would have liked to take advantage of the fire pit and the lovely back decks.
We loved our weekend stay at this great little cabin! It was easy check-in, very clean, great communication with the owners, and beautiful scenery. I highly recommend this rental and hope to return. Thank you for an enjoyable stay and for helping "save" my husky!
We were pleasantly surprised when we go to the property. The owner had done some upgrades. There was a new porch in the back and a new balcony off the one bedroom. The steps leading to the bedrooms had been replaced. They put new furniture in the front room (a double recliner/rocker and two new chairs). The bedrooms each had a king size bed and they were very comfortable. The scenery was gorgeous. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone. Mr. Kish was very nice. We had a great time exploring State Parks in the area. It was wonderful.
The Bush's were great. The cabin had way more available then what we expected. Even though they are right down the street, we had our privacy. It cozy, the views are amazing and it was just fantastic. Thank you George and Katrina for such a wonderful stay. We will be back 😁😁.
