This upper level sea view apartment has a lovely verandah, spacious living room with fully equipped kitchen/dining area, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Beautiful mature gardens leading right up to a beautiful, white sand beach. No masses of cruise ship passengers, beach vendors etc, as they do not have access to the beach through our property. Yet it’s only a 6-7 minute walk to get to Dickenson Bay with 6 hotels (including Sandals) as well as 5 restaurants/bars, a grocery store, water sports and gift shops.

Quick response to my questions. Check in/out smooth. Beach was very nice. Casa Roots good food and nice little beach bar. All staff friendly and helpful.
The property has five buildings for a total of 20 cottages. Each building has four apartments (2 upstairs and 2 downstairs) with two bedrooms and two baths in each unit. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, blender, coffee machine, and ample towels for both the beach and the apartment. The maids came every three days to clean the unit. The property just underwent a renovation and they installed all new beds, which was a dream. The beds were very firm. The beach is spectacular…..very private and calm like glass, no waves at this pearl white sand beach….beautiful for bathing and relaxing and reading. There were just a few mosquitoes however there’s always a sea breeze at this property and therefore they were not a nuisance however you need a rental car to get around and the roads are terrible. nuisance.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Amazing views, clean property, flexible and quiet! Would definitely recommend!

Antigua vacation
The beach was amazing. The place was clean and quiet.
Just a few snags. I was sent a email regarding the location address and it was not the right location. Now the cab is gone. My partner and I was standing on the street with our luggage in the middle of nowhere in the heat. The host was sending her property manto pick u up but luckily enough a taxi driver saw us standing outside the property and offered to drop us off which we had to pay for. Not sure if this would be considered sea view more like not much of a sea view but its a few steps to the beach. The ceiling fan in the dining/living room area barely spinned so it was hot during. During the day it was alot going on early morning maintenance repairs.
Last but not least I highly recommend advising your visitors to bring mosquito repellant/ mosquito repellant coil or have the grounds treated. The mosquito situation was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Hanging out on the balcony was a struggle. Overall it wasn't a horrible experience.
Emai email regarding the stay
This is a beautiful well kept apartment, the staff was responsive and friendly, the place was cleaned 3 times weekly, and it is adjacent a perfect, quiet and little beach. Towels are provided, and beach chairs and umbrellas are set up on the beach for you. You are in close proximity of a slightly pricy, but worth-it restaurant just a few steps away, as well as several other nice places within a mile.
Unclear on the original ad would be that this is not an apartment, but one of about 16 apartments, so it is likely just luck as to whether you get a beach view from the apartment. Also, though not at all objectionable to me, is that the apartment is not air-conditioned, but the bedrooms are.
All in all, I would choose this booking again, I was quite happy with the stay and the staff. There are beautifully well kept gardens throughout the complex, and the location is private and secluded.
Accommodation, beach, restaurant and staffs are excellent.
We stayed for 14 days, wonderful experience.

Beautiful beach - dirty room and bad mattresses
Amazing beach. Paradise. Great restaurant right next door “Casa Roots” but they were closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday so we only got to experience it Saturday. However - 10 minute walk north to other nice restaurants. Downside was badly stained gross mattress in one bed which was also hurting our backs so we tried the other one and it was even more uncomfortable. Lampshades all encrusted in dust and dirty. We ended up leaving there for a nice resort the last two days. We let ownership know of this and got no response.
Communication with host prior to arrival was quite easy any timely. Arrival process was flawless. Beach access and location was amazing. Restaurant adjacent to property was excellent. Grocery store about 1 mile away. Plenty of activities available locally Le ferry to Barbuda or catamaran around island. But if you just want to lay on beach, listen to ways and enjoy water, this is perfect!
Excellent stay. Very responsive staff. Efficient unit. Best beach for swimming. Air conditioning is great in the bedrooms, kitchen and living room area do get warm as no air. Gaven and Stephen made our stay even more enjoyable. There is a laundry facility on the property which was a nice bonus and also a shared BBQ for the units. We used Pete’s car rental and they were great as well. Roads in Antigua are horrific just an fyi for those driving. Will definitely be back.
We traveled to various parts of the island during our lovely week and did not think any spot surpassed these darling villas in Runaway Bay. Thank you for a wonderful week!
Overall as expected - great view and location with nice restaurant next door. Staff were really friendly . Pounding Club music late at night kept me awake for a little bit
The property is just steps from the beach and the beach is one of the best in Antigua. The staff are outstanding - always friendly and helpful. Beware loud music from outside the property on Friday and Saturday nights until very late. If you’re young enough to enjoy it, go and join in! Otherwise, maybe check out on a Friday morning or bring earplugs.
I should start at the beginning...Runaway Bay, or locally known as The Barrymore is THE first place anyone should look to for beachside luxury for a getaway. My wife and I needed a quick trip to recharge and, thankfully we picked Antigua and this property! The apartment was beautiful, supremely clean and stocked with well thought-out kitchen appliances needed for a beach trip. We took a 15-minute stroll to one of the local supermarkets to grab food supplies to stock the fridge and cabinets. Even though, we walked there, we took a 4 min taxi back to the apartment. We made fresh fish tacos and enjoyed the magnanimous sunset on the balcony. Ahhh, the balcony...now, not every apartment directly faces the Caribbean Sea, but I'll bet if we dangled our feet off the balcony, the tide would tickle our toes! There is no closer experience to being on the beach, at the beach, or in the water! Allow me to get to the rest. The apartment has two bedrooms and two baths, but since we were traveling alone for this trip, we only needed to pick one of each. The shower was hot, the water pressure was great and large towels were provided. The queen-sized bed was Goldilocks-perfect. The fans in the cathedral ceilings kept the apartment relatively breezy, while an AC unit in the bedroom kept us comfortable during the night, and it also helped to keep the mosquitoes that crept in during the day at bay. (a suggestion for mosquito-sensitive guests? Perhaps small Citronella incense for the balcony.) The sound of the sea lapping up while drifting off had beaten down the honk of yellow taxis in the big city back in the States. It told us that it was time to let the daily stresses of life melt away. And it was the first thing we heard upon waking in the morning...beckoning us toward its healing salt and sand. Beach towels and were provided, while lounging chairs were just steps away downstairs. And when we returned from the beach, there was a small tub filled with water next to the entrance to the door to dip our feet in to wash away the sand that clung to our feet. Nice detail, Runaway! Thank you to Brian, Linda, Michael, Jeremiah, and all the staff who took good care of us and made us feel welcomed. We will be back sooner than you can say, #7!
Ours was one of several apartments located on a wonderful private beach. The sand gently slopes into the sea making it safe for children. The restaurant Casa Roots is on site, has great staff and food and is a lovely place to chill.
The accommodation is in truth a little tired however gets by as shabby chic and in truth did not detract from the enjoyment of the time we spent with friends.
There was an issue that arose on a Saturday night that was addressed immediately and brilliantly by Linda and for which we are very grateful.
Otherwise by way of advice, Casa Roots is closed Sunday evening until Tuesday evening and the nearest breakfast is Salt Plage which is 10 mins walk away. The nearest supermarket is a good 30 minute walk and is not cheap or particularly well stocked so would advise taking things that you want with you. You can order in food and have groceries delivered however would advise you to check this out in advance. We hired a car for a couple of days which was not expensive and helped a lot. Finally suggest you visit Cecilia in the Hilltop for a great venue for lunch and a little wine.
Only steps away from your own private, beautiful beach. Barely any other people on the same beach. Overall nice accommodations. Good security. Would definitely stay here again.
Hello,
We were looking for a last minute stay at a reasonable price and this property certainly delivered. We did have a car, made it a little easier to get around. The location is maybe ten mins from town. It's on a stretch with several other hotels/BnBs. I stayed in unit 12 (on the top floor) we didn't have direct view of the ocean but you can access the beach from the property ( not even a min walking). There is free parking on the property along with a restaurant called Casa Roots. There were two bedrooms and two bathrooms so that was lovely. Each bedroom has its own little balcony in addition to a larger common balcony off the living room. The breeze was phenomenal. The unit was definitely cozy, though I would recommend getting a more comfy bed. The property manager was also great. We had an issue and I was surprised at how compassionate the property manager was in helping to resolve the issue. I wanted to sincerely thank you as folks running businesses these days are only about making money. Thank you for being kind to us. It's truly appreciated. I would absolutely come back and definitely would recommend!
Villa is just as described - spacious and clean, with a nice terrace overlooking the gardens and the sea. The air circulation is amazing, maintaining a very comfortable temperature in the living room. I’m giving a big shout-out to the management and the crew who have been extremely helpful and nice. Villa is very private, sitting by amazing beach - crystal clear water, soft powdery sand and Casa Roots restaurants in the backyard! All you need for your vacation!
Had a lovely time, the apartment was exactly what was advertised, large and beautiful, directly on the beach, the staff were very friendly and helpful, could of stayed there for ever, will definitely recommend for couples & families, we will definitely be back
We loved apartment 11 where we stayed for a week during march break. We had a view of the ocean (although it was a bit obstructed by the trees) and the beach was one of the best on the island with gorgeous white sand and barely any people. The apartment was spacious and decorated very nicely. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. The restaurant, Casa Roots, on the property was fantastic and the food excellent. We rented a car so it was easy to get around and the apartment was in a nice, quiet location. Overall the apartment was clean, but it could do with some updating. We would definitely recommend this place.
Loved our stay in the north of the island. The beach at Runaway bay is absolutely stunning. Our accommodation was quite large and we had a slight view of the sea. There is also a great restaurant which I would highly recommend called Casa Roots. In relation to the location you do need a car. My husband and I walked to St Johns and it took about 45/60mins. Mostly walking on the road. You can get taxis but I think a car would be more cost effective. Overall a really lovely stay.
The 16 apartments are in blocks of 4, immediately behind a beautiful sheltered stretch of Runaway Beach, and we very much enjoyed our stay here. Only the front block has an unobstructed sea view, but from no.12 we had good partial views. As the VRBO listing didn't name them we identified them initially only by walking along the beach until we found a match for the photos! The living area is spacious and well-ventilated with fans, and netting and wooden slats instead of glass. Unfortunately this also makes the apartments very vulnerable to noise from neighbours; maybe we were unlucky in having a fractious tantrum-prone toddler below us the first week, and two young men who came out for a loud drunken conversation on their terrace at 2.30 am one night the second week. We ate at the on-site restaurant once, at Sunday lunch when it was crowded, service was very slow, and the experience wasn't helped by a loudly amplified singer. Self-catering was easy, with a large supermarket a short drive away and excellent fresh fish and lobster from St John's fish market.. The manager was very helpful and prompt at sorting out an initial problem with our hot water and letting us stay beyond the official checkout time on our last day.
