Rare Opportunity to Stay in this Area
The entire process of booking and communicating with the host was so easy and pleasant. We needed a place to stay in the area for a family wedding, and we lucked out to find this house. It was clean; was well-stocked with amenities, toys, and basic pantry items; had plenty of space/beds; and was in a great location for our needs. The kids wished we could have stayed longer!

We had a great time at your lodge! Fishing was great and we had a great time having fires and yard games after. Hopefully there will be a private access that is useable for larger boats soon so we don’t have to drive down gravel roads all the way to Rogers. Great trip!

Cozy & quiet hideaway
Nice quiet hideaway surrounded by nature. The lodge can hold just a few or many people with everything you need from a campfire and lawn games to a cozy night in together by the woodstove or watching a movie on their big screen Roku TV. There is a lake nearby with beautiful sunsets as well. We all fell in love with The Dahlin Lodge and will recommend it to all our friends and family. They thought of everything you need right there with a full kitchen and instruction booklet to help you get to know the place and surroundings. Been, the owner was terrific! He answered right away with all our questions and was very helpful.

Beautiful Secluded Cabin
We spent six nights at the Dahlin Lodge and wished we could have stayed longer. The cabin was clean, well-maintained, and stocked with all the amenities necessary to make our stay a pleasant one. You can tell the owners care about the property a great deal. Ben was an excellent host and responded to our inquiries quickly. He provided helpful information about the cabin and the surrounding area that we took full advantage of. The field and most of the trails (except the ones that were too muddy/boggy to traverse) were mowed and provided great places to walk and let our two dogs run free. Just remember to bring mosquito repellent and a way to remove ticks! We spent much of our time around the fire pit during the day/evenings and the wood stove at night. The huge piles of ready firewood were a nice touch! Would highly recommend this place if you're looking for a secluded getaway. We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful cabin and setting. Had everything you’d need for an amazing weekend. Owner was very responsive to any questions. Gave us advice on fishing conditions and helped us even after we had checked out with a few left behind items. Not hesitating to book again.

Beautiful property in an amazing location
This cabin is an amazing outpost the woods near Upper Red Lake. We really enjoyed exploring the woods on the property (but watch out for mosquitoes in the summer), having a bonfire in the fire pit, playing yard games on the clearing in front of the house, watching the sunsets, and looking at the stars at night. You are really out in nature here—you can barely ever even hear distant cars, and there’s no light pollution at all. It was a great home base for exploring the Big Bog and the beaches around Upper Red Lake. Our two-year-old daughter loved the upstairs loft area (with a toy chest for kids). The kitchen is stocked with a bunch of basic cooking supplies, which was great. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Wonderfully relaxing location!
We had such a great time here! We were looking to get away from the city and relax, and the place delivered. It's in a great, secluded spot about 20 minutes from the nearest things like a convenience store, gas station, etc. Google maps made getting there a breeze. We were able to rent pontoon boats from a nearby resort, so water access was easy for us. The property sits on several acres of woods, but a wide cut out "yard" surrounds the house. With its trails throughout, I'm sure this place is a blast for snow mobiles during the winter months. Anyway, my kids love the nature walks and saw tons of animal life. Amazing stars in the sky at night! Their fire pit was used extensively for s'mores. :) We also took full advantage of the charcoal grill. The house is excellent. It's kept very clean and we were surprised to see it was a 2005 construction (it seems much newer, as it's very well maintained). The rooms were great and the individual heating/cooling units in each made them very comfortable. Though we didn't end up needing anything in them, the welcome baskets in the rooms were a very nice touch. They have many pots/pans and the staple items you would hope for in a kitchen. The house had fast internet and a strong wifi signal throughout (easily supported work video calls). The hosts were very responsive and made sure to check in with text message to make sure all was well. We definitely recommend this place!

Great Family Geataway
This is a great place for a family to stay. The pictures and description of the amenities are accurate. Our family booked a last-minute trip, and I was afraid that the kids would be bored with being in the middle of the woods. This cabin and the property didn't disappoint. My kids 7 and 9 years old, located the board games right away and found the cabin to be entertaining. My teen that went along the trip enjoyed the open outside area and had tons of fun hiking. My husband and I loved the open concept of the cabin, and enjoyed all the amenities, plus I even found a waffle maker! All our family brought along were the needed groceries, the pantry was pretty full of all the necessities, silverware, bowls, and plates were also provided. They have a helpful binder of all the activities around town, and we took advantage of it as there is no cell phone signal in the area. No worries, the cabin has Wi-Fi. I needed to connect with the property owners, and they were pretty responsive. Overall, our family highly recommends. If we are ever in the need to disconnect from the city, we now know where to go. My husband wants to plan a trip during the ice fishing season as there are many spots in Upper Red Lake. They have also a mudroom and laundry room addition. The mudroom is a great space to drink coffee in the morning or enjoy the stars at night without using bug repellent. The laundry room is still in the process of being set up, but it looks like it will be a very useful amenity.

About the host

Hosted by Ben Dahlin

Host profile image
Hi! I live in North West Minnesota and would love the opportunity to host you and your group. I love to travel, be outdoors, and explore new places.

If you have any questions about the property, please don't hesitate to reach out!

Why they chose this property

My father and I purchased this beautifully wooded 40-acre piece which sits right down the road from Upper Red Lake in 2005. Not only did we see it as an investment, but also as a place to stay after a long day of chasing the famous Upper Red Lake Crappies. The 40 acres was raw land and has only been logged off. We started off using an old camper but soon found out how much we really enjoyed going up to the quietness of “the land” and have no intention of selling this property. After years of cutting new trails and excavating the land, we started to dream about building a cabin. We spent a few years acquiring building materials hoping to one day build a cabin that would be comfortable and something our wives and children would want to come to. July 2013 we broke ground and in August we poured the cement 24X40. The cement would lay until March 2015 when the cabin shell was built. The cabin shell (walls, roof, windows, siding, framing inside) was put up in 6 days! It wasn't until April 2017 that we finally finished all the interior work. Lots of weekends were spent away from our families as we would go up north and try to get as much done as possible and then come right back home and get back to our "normal jobs". It has proved to be well worth it. Our family loves our weekends away to this secluded cabin hidden away from the busy world.
