About this property

Inside Yosemite N.P. Gates!, Our Cozy Rooms Are Minutes From Valley Attractions

THE ASPEN ROOM AT THE YOSEMITE PEREGRINE LODGE

The Aspen room will delight and enchant you with its charming decor. This room is located at the Peregrine Lodge in Yosemite West just 20 minutes from the valley floor.

Each of our rooms has a private entrance with private shower & bathroom, outdoor deck, custom gas fireplace, and more.

Please note, we are not a bed and breakfast.

For those of you who love the winter in Yosemite, you will love the easy access to snow and snow activities. We are only 20 minutes by car to the Badger Pass Ski Area for cross country, snow shoeing, snow play, and downhill skiing. On large storms, cross country ski right out from the lodge.

At just over 6000 feet, our lodge will get more snow than the Valley itself. If you want to have a higher probability of being in the snow, you will want to be in Yosemite West.

The benefits of staying at our home inside Yosemite National Park are many. By actually being inside the National Park gates, you avoid the long lines going in and out of the entrance stations. At peak season this can be an hour or more wait time just to enter the park. This allows you to experience leisurely mornings enjoying the peace and solitude of our quiet community before taking off to see the many attractions in the park.

Returning from a day of rigorous hiking and sauntering in the valley? Ice skating at Curry Village? Cross country skiing on our groomed and un-groomed trails? or Down hill skiing at the local ski resort? You will be happy to know home is just a short drive away.

We offer a clean, well maintained lodge that is the ideal home base for your Yosemite experience. Please, no smoking, no pets.

ATTRACTIONS AND DISTANCES

The distance from Yosemite West to famous landmarks are: Badger Pass Ski Area 6.5 miles (10,5 km), Tunnel View 8.3 miles (13,4 km), Bridalveil Falls 9.8 miles (15,8 km), Wawona Hotel 12.4 miles (20 km), The Ahwahnee Hotel 15.9 miles (25,6 km), Glacier Point 16.2 miles (26 km) and El Portal 21.7 miles (35 km).

THE LODGE

The Yosemite Peregrine Lodge is a multi-level 3200 square foot home. We offer the entire home as a vacation rental between April 1 and December 31 each year. During this time the lodge is suitable for couples, families and executive retreats for up to 8 people.

From January through the end of March, the individual bedrooms are available to rent.

Unusual for most homes in the Yosemite West community, the Peregrine Lodge is situated on a rather level area. This means you do not have to negotiate the steep stairs that earmark many houses.

Entering the home through a door on the same level as the parking, you will find easy access to the lodge and our guest rooms.

PARKING

We have guest parking for 3 midsize vehicles in driveway. We cannot accommodate RVs in the winter due to snow and ice conditions.

SLEEPING ACCOMMODATIONS

Each bedroom has both interior and exterior entries. They each have their own sink and shower, entry to their own private deck area, and a unique and beautiful floor to ceiling fireplace. One of the bedrooms even has a jet tub.

Our unique and cozy rooms are thematic in nature. The Peregrine Lodge is regarded as a quiet escape and romantic getaway for most of our guests, and we work hard to foster that environment.

Therefore, it is not an appropriate place for children under 14. Persons who are not registered guests are not permitted on the property. Our guests do not have visitation rights.

LODGEPOLE ROOM:*
Lodgepole furniture and a queen size bed, floor to ceiling fireplace with touches of native american art, and more.

ASPEN ROOM:*
This room has our king size bed. The rock fireplace also features aspen trees, thematic art and more.

DOGWOOD ROOM:*
Our largest room with a queen bed, custom rock fireplace featuring Dogwood trees, thematic art, and more.

* Please note we have a max occupancy of 2 persons per room.

LIVING AREA

The main floor is closed to visitors between December 31, and April 1 each year.

There are no laundry facilities at the lodge.

EATING

We provide an electric water boiler, coffee pot with coffee and tea, sugar and creamer. There is small refrigerator in the room for snacks. There is absolutely no cooking allowed in the rooms. Hot pans, electric skillet, or other means of cooking stoves or appliance is not allowed. There is a small microwave in the shared lobby area.

There are markets, cafeterias, coffee shops, and restaurants located in the valley just 20 minutes away by car from the lodge.

HOME ENTERTAINMENT

We provide satellite TV and DVD players in each bedroom. There are also books and board games available.

INTERNET AVAILABILITY

WiFi is available to our guests. Due to being at 6,000 feet of elevation and surrounded by forest, this internet is often slow and can become unavailable during snow storms. Please do not stream or download large files. This is meant to keep you in touch via email, texts and social media.

This is an ideal home for those who are seeking upscale cozy winter accommodations inside Yosemite.

Cozy and luxurious cabin in Yosemite West

We had an incredible stay at this cozy and luxurious cabin in Yosemite West. From the moment we arrived, the experience was warm and welcoming — quite literally, thanks to the inviting gas fireplace in the room. To our delight, there were cookies and pastries waiting for us, which added such a thoughtful and homey touch. The cabin itself was clean, beautifully decorated, and lived up to its name in both coziness and comfort. It was the perfect place to unwind after long hikes and exploring the park. What really made our stay exceptional, though, was the owner. They were amazing — super friendly, approachable, and full of fantastic local recommendations that helped us make the most of our time in Yosemite. The location couldn’t be better either: just a 20-minute drive to Yosemite Valley in one direction, and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias in the other. If you're planning a trip to Yosemite and want a peaceful, welcoming place to stay with a personal touch, this cabin is an absolute gem.

A great time!

Staying here was an excellent time. At first I was concerned a bit about hearing other people in the lodge, but the insulation seems to be good so we barely heard anyone else. For being just a room, it still offers most of what you need, including coffee, shower, a fireplace. A great time overall.

Relaxing much-needed getaway

My friend and I camp in Yosemite once or twice a year, and had to cancel earlier trips due to pandemic. We weren't sure how we'd like an indoor stay - it was great! A comfy room, great birds (a big focus on our trips) and quiet surroundings. We couldn't hike as much as usual because of the smoke from the Creek fire, but we spent our evenings on the deck and were happy to unwind in such a lovely setting. It was easy to get to the main attractions (if that's your goal) and very short drives to the out-of-the-way spots we favor. No crowds! So nice.

Perfect Mini Getaway

We have stayed at Yosemite West’s VRBO with our 4 kids many moons ago. It was great to come back as empty nesters and stay in a room instead of a whole house. Peregrine Lodge is ideal for a mini getaway or a weeklong stay.

Quiet and private retreat

About The Peregrine Lodge: It is a wonderful place to stay! We were in the Aspen Room -- cozy but plenty of space to spread out. The bed was comfortable. There was a very organized and helpful binder book in the room with instructions for operating the heater, tv, fireplace, and other things you might need to know in case of an emergency. They also had detailed instructions on the checkout process. They quickly answered the questions I asked before the trip, and reached out with parking instructions before we arrived. It had recently snowed a lot, and they wanted to be sure everyone's vehicles were accommodated. We weren't able to use the nice deck outside our room because the snow was melting and it was dripping everywhere. :) We had a great time and hope to return in the summer or fall to experience Yosemite and the Peregrine Lodge again. About our trip: My husband and I went to Yosemite in late March so there was still a lot of snow in the area but the roads were clear. It was about a 30-minute drive to Yosemite Village. We got up very early one morning and drove to Tunnel View (about 15 minutes) and my husband took some beautiful photos of the sunrise over the valley. The waterfalls were all going strong with all the snow melt!

Perfect!

The room was just what we had hoped for. David & Vonnie were excellent hosts and answered all of our questions before we arrived and were attentive to our needs while we were there. The king sized bed and wood burning fireplace were just what we needed after a day of hiking in Yosemite. And just 20 minutes away from Tunnel View! Vonnie's advice on what to do in Yosemite, along with some great books that they have available, really helped to make our trip successful!

A fabulous experience. Home from home.

The accommodation was fantastically described. David was a fabulous host with excellent local knowledge and suggestions of where to go and how to get the best experience. The room was beautiful and very well equipped with a beautiful balcony and log fire to set the scene. I would not hesitate to recommend this place as a must visit highlight.

The Yosemite Peregrine Lodge was purchased from Don and Kay Pitts in 2014. Don Pitts, was the US Magistrate/Judge in Yosemite for many years. When he retired in 1992, he and his wife, artist, Kay Pitts, built this beautiful home in Yosemite West. They moved to Fresno and decided to sell their lovely home so others may also enjoy the beauty and solitude of Yosemite.

Vonnie Coombs is the owner and manager of the lodge. She is excited to be able to continue offering this beautiful luxury home for the use of visitors to Yosemite National Park. Like the Pitts, Vonnie shares a love and appreciation for the outdoor lifestyle. Backpacking enthusiast, she has made many trips into the Sierra back country.

She has hiked and backpacked in many amazing places in the US, Canada and Europe but considers Yosemite National Park and the Sierra Nevadas to be a special place. In 2005 she backpacked the John Muir trail, completing the 245 miles in Yosemite Valley. It was during this trip that the love and awe of the range of light was forever bound inside her.

She is happy to offer this unique home for the enjoyment of guests who appreciate luxury, upscale and artful accommodations in the middle of one of the most wonderful places on earth.

Why they chose this property

Yosemite West is a unique area of Yosemite Park. Centrally located at 6,000 ft. elevation it allows the visitor to easily access Yosemite's many wonders while avoiding the crowding of Yosemite Valley.

The home sits on a quiet wooded hillside with sunset views. Coyotes, bears and deer are often seen as well as a large variety of birds. There are numerous trails to hike right outside the door and in Winter these become excellent cross country ski trails.

Spring and Summer bring lots of wildflowers and Autumn wonderful color changes: dogwoods turn all shades of salmon and burgundy, maples turn yellow and black oaks a burnished gold. All contrasted with the evergreen sugar pines, ponderosas, cedars and fir trees. It isn't just the visual beauty, it smells so good! At night there are of stars! Sunsets like you wouldn't believe

What makes this property unique

Our 3200 sq. ft. home has three bedrooms each with a unique gas fireplace, private bath, TV/DVD, deck. These are on the ground floor adjacent to the three car carport which means you don’t have to haul your luggage up stairs.

These are ideal rooms for those who are seeking quality accommodations in a cozy private room. At 6000 feet we get more snow than the valley and we are only minutes by car to the Badger Pass Ski Area. You are in Yosemite West which has the advantage of being away from the crowds of tourists yet central to all of Yosemite’s major attractions.
