About this property

Beautiful A-frame Near Mount Rainier National Park and Crystal Mountain

A lovely A-frame home with Modern updates on 4 acres of forest close to a river and a 15 minute drive to the entrance of Rainier National Park.

Come enjoy a peaceful getaway from the city at this well-equipped, lovingly refinished A-frame in the woods. The home is easily accessed off SR-410, making for the perfect launch pad for the infinite recreation opportunities in and around Mt. Rainier. Tons of hiking, bicycling and in the winter skiing to be had!

The Main Floor includes a soaring Living/Dining space with a cozy L-shaped lounging couch and large dining table that seats 6. The front wall of home is a wall of windows looking onto the surrounding forest. Enjoy looking at the peaceful greenery of the forest from every room! Adjacent to the Living/Dining room is the Kitchen with plenty of dishes, cookware, and basic amenities. At the rear of Main Level are two bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the 2nd with bunkbeds. The full bath is between the two bedrooms, and was recently updated with a new vanity and glass shower door.

Upstairs is the open sleeping Loft - this space is open to Living/Dining below but the high ceilings give this room privacy. The loft sleeping room has a king size bed and a 1/2 bath with small sink and toilet behind privacy wall. You feel like you are sleeping in a treehouse in this room! Access to the Loft via a steep open stair, not suitable for small children.

The exterior offers 800 square feet of decks for sun-bathing or resting in the shade, plenty of parking, a nice grassy yard with children's swingset. There is an outdoor dining table with four chairs and a rocking bench on the main deck level at front of house. Additional lounge Adirondack chairs are located on the patio at ground level.

Yard is fenced with gate at driveway to help keep elk out of yard. There are several small water features- mini ponds to enhance yard - look for goldfish and frogs!

We hope you will consider a stay at our mountain retreat and enjoy the peaceful forest setting.

Great spot!

The house has all the amenities, but still feels like a cabin. Despite neighbors and a nearby road, it’s super private and cozy and tucked away in the woods. You’re close to a great tavern and of course the national park, but we spent several days just relaxing there and that was awesome, too.

Great location and comfortable beds!

We had a ladies long weekend and had planned on hiking up at Sunrise and over to Paradise. This cabin was in a great location and we enjoyed the hikes close by as well as in the National Park. After a very long day of hiking we headed over to the Naches Tavern to get some dinner and cold beer. It was perfect weather for sitting outside and enjoying the fresh air. Afterwards we headed just down the way to the General Store to pick up some ice cream. The hot tub was especially pleasant after a day hiking. The kitchen met all of our needs and the air conditioning was wonderful. The beds were very comfortable. The owners were very responsive to questions and very helpful with information about the area. Everything was very clean. We would definitely stay there again :)

Really lovely cabin

Very cozy inside, absolutely loved the layout of it. So much that I hope to build my future home based off of it!! Seriously, just a gorgeous space. There is a larger cabin that is next door/visible from the porch but not the hot tub area or the back yard. It still feels like you are secluded though! They had everything we needed and more. We traveled with a group of 5 and had more than enough space (two young kids, 3 adults. The cabin was also very clean which i greatly appreciated. Kitchen has pots, pans, crockpot, etc so bring stuff to make meals if you want! Large dining room table too. Thank you so much for hosting us!!

Absolutely fabulous gem in the woods close to Mt.Rainier

This is a hidden gem in Seattle area - hikes all around. Relaxing but still high-tech cabin. Cabin can easily sleep up to 6 people. Everything you need is there. A/C, fridge, fireplace, jakuzzi, high speed internet... If you need to work during your stay - no issues with Connection. Communication with owners is also top class. they will provide everything you need. Again - absolute gem... we will be back soon!!!

So glad we stayed here

The kitchen was the best-equipped we've ever encountered. Soaking in the hot tub after hikes on Mt. Rainier was divine. The house accommodated my husband, me, and my husband's brother and wife very nicely. It's a treat to have a half bath in a loft. We felt we had everything we needed, including a huge supply of cards and board games.

Beautiful A-frame in the woods

We feel so lucky to have found this place! It was such a beautiful and relaxing home to come back to after hiking all day in Mount Rainier NP. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed, the hot tub felt great, and the bed was comfortable. I would definitely recommend to anyone coming to the area and would love to stay again in the future!

Great Home for Mt Rainier

We had a great time visiting Mt. Rainier for the first time. This A-Frame was perfect for quick access to the Sunrise area of the park and reaching Paradise with a little longer drive. The house was well-equipped, so we had everything we needed. The hot tub was relaxing after a long day of hiking and greatly appreciated. Giles was helpful in offering suggestions for things to do in the area and answered questions quickly. Overall, an excellent experience and we highly recommend this house for anyone looking for access to Mt. Rainier National Park.

Amazing Stay Near Mt. Rainier

Absolutely loved my time staying in Giles's home near Mt. Rainier. It's even more beautiful in person than the photos show, and there are a million small touches that show Giles has clearly put a lot of love and thought into his home. Beds are super comfortable, tons of supplies in the kitchen, BBQ outside works great, and the hot tub is extremely easy to use and in good shape. This is a great property if you're looking to explore Mt. Rainier - and is right in between Seattle and the park. Check in and check out, as well as communication with Giles, was smooth throughout. Would love to come back here soon!!!

Wonderful property and hosts!

We had such a fabulous 5 night stay! Wished we could have stayed another 2 days. Hosts were lovely; so very helpful and kind. The cabin is charming and pretty with many personal 'homey' touches (too many to name). The almost brand new hot tub was stellar, with many jets and even lights! The fire pit area was cozy and fun. All the supplies needed to build a great campfire were so thoughtfully provided and many family games and kitchen items as well. Nice peaceful location and beautiful property. Appreciated the closet space and dresser in the 2nd bedroom. Beds were comfy and decor was pretty. Great hikes nearby and pretty landscape. Overall we had a wonderful experience.

A relaxing stay at a comfortable and fun cabin near Mt. Rainier

The cabin decor was fun, colorful, and modern, surrounded by towers pine trees. It was a relaxing stay in the woods. There were big windows for watching nature and a wood stove provided for enjoying warmth by the fire. The cabin was well stocked and offered informative notes for figuring things out. I will note, there was a lack of window coverings.

Magical memories at this lovely A frame

Stayed here for a week for my wedding and it was magical! Absolutely lovely property and modern/beautiful cabin! We brought our TV with firestick to relax and watch movies after hiking and it was amazing, hooked up easy peasy. Beds were comfortable, loved the hot tub and big yard. We brought our archery set up and played yard games most days! The owners are the nicest renters i’ve ever encountered. Loved the large sofa and beautiful kitchen table and the heated floors! Stayed up late in the hot tub and enjoyed star gazing on the front porch at night! Got a friendly visit from a massive lady elk which was such a site to see in the back yard. I can not wait to stay here again!! Thank you SO much mr and mrs Giles for graciously letting us enjoy your “happy place”, it certainly was ours too!

Wonderful cabin and location!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this adorable, well appointed cabin. It had everything we needed. Greeted by a bottle of wine and a cabin book with clear instructions on check in, check out, and amenities in the cabin. The location is perfect for exploring the Mt. Rainier area. There were hiking books and a list of favorite hikes. Much appreciated. We didn’t use the hot tub though it looks great. We especially loved the front porch! Owners are very responsive. We definitely want to come back!!

Great place

The location was fabulous and only a fifteen minute drive to the Sunrise park entrance. The house had plenty of room and was perfect for just my husband and I. The hot tub was a nice perk of the house. Definitely would stay here again if in the area. Only downside was there was no television in the house at all and the guest WiFi was not working but the owners gave us access to the owner WiFi.

Great Rainier Base!

This was a perfect base for our relax and explore getaway to Mount Rainier. The WA-410 road noise is present but not unpleasant, and the upside is quick (for Rainier - it's a big park!) and easy access to Sunrise and Paradise, among the many other hikes, rec areas, lakes, rivers and other outdoor activities to enjoy nearby. Lots of helpful guide books and other materials provided to give you your options and useful tips (especially for kids). And we had a great time going nowhere and just enjoying the property, in particular the brand new hot tub!

Fabulous A frame cabin near Crystal

This A frame has it all! We stayed for 4 nights with 3 teenagers and had a lovely stay. It is so well designed and felt so spacious with the high ceilings and great use of space. Our kids loved turning on the party lights in the main room. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything one can imagine including some spices and great coffee maker. Well insulated, bonus radiant floors and tons of games included to play. Thank you Giles and Susan!

Family of four that loves to spend time in Nature - hiking, skiing and relaxing in the gorgeous natural playground that is the region around Mt. Rainier. There are hikes galore in this area, we'd be happy to give recommendations for fun day excursions - or you can spend days exploring the National Park. The wildflowers are stunning in the alpine meadows in the spring and a treat to spend time out of the city - we call this cabin "our happy place".

Why they chose this property

We love this area and the owner, an architect, has always loved A-frames. We lovingly updated this home with new floors throughout. Slate tile in the Living/Dining and Kitchen/Bath, in a custom pattern designed by the owner. New cork floors in the bedrooms. It is great to be a short drive from Seattle and yet you feel a world away here. Our girls love walking down to the nearby river to play.

What makes this property unique

It's really just fun being in an A-Frame space - the ceilings are sloped and the space dramatic. We had a lot of fun adding special lighting to each room. Our favorite are the hanging lanterns "floating" in the main A-Frame space and what we call the "Jellyfish" light - hand-made by an artist lighting friend of ours, that graces the Sleeping Loft. Especially in the twilight, these light fixtures glow and reflect on the big wall of glass, the reflections look like they are floating in the forest canopy... it is really a magical effect.
