Wonderful and spacious house, just feet away from a private lake in Tucker County.
Great location, which is close to many of the major attractions, yet still private.
Would love to return & would recommend!
Our stay was absolutely breathtaking—stunning views from every angle and an ideal location, providing easy access to everything we needed for a relaxing and peaceful vacation. The serenity of the surroundings, combined with the proximity to local attractions, made it the perfect getaway. One of the highlights was watching my husband and son bond over fishing, right in front of the house. They had an incredible time together, casting lines and sharing laughs. It truly felt like a home away from home, and we’re already planning our return.
Our family of 8 adults had our 1st family vacation in your lovely state. We wanted to have a laid back, just spending time together kind of get away. Your state parks were beautiful and just the kind of relaxing fun we all needed. The log home was rustic yet had all the necessities to fit our needs. The booking and payment process was painless,.....even for someone like myself who has very limited tech skills. Thank you all for making this such an enjoyable trip.
We had more than enough room for 5 of us. The layout is very conducive to a family vacation gathering. The house is right on the little lake with just a short walk from the house to where the kayaks, SUPs and canoe were located (you can see them from the back deck). We didn’t have the best weather while we were there but the kids got out on the lake many times anyway. The pool table was enjoyed by all (one stick wasn’t in good shape so we just shared, no big deal). The lack of AC was not a problem at all between the ceiling fans and open windows. As some previous reviews stated, yes there are some dated elements but it didn’t detract from our enjoyment of the home at all. The location is almost equidistant between Blackwater Falls state park to the north and Canaan Valley State Park to the south.

Lake cabin
Beautiful setting, lots of windows and ample outdoor space. Awesome indoor fireplace that we used quite a bit and nice to have access to lake boards and kayaks .
The house was just what we needed for 4 adults and a child to get away from the city for a weekend cross-country skiing. Great location to White Grass and other ski resorts. The house had all the amenities needed and the hot tub was ready to go! Beautiful views over the lake in the winter. Would be great in summer too! Could have used some additional attention to detail cleaning (dead bugs in windowsills and in corners were plentiful), but overall it was a great stay and we are bookmarking it for the future!
While the house could use some updating overall, this house was plenty big for my parents, sister, husband, 2 year old daughter and I. The main living space is super cozy and lovely. The beds aren’t the best, but they weren’t terrible either. One thing that made me scratch my head was the lack of any real lighting in the upstairs shower/toilet area. We had to take our evening showers essentially in the dark. There were some areas (mainly in the indoor window sills) where bugs came to die, and were pretty gross and clearly had never been cleaned. But overall the stay was nice.
We were 5 adults and a dog. This place could not have worked out better for us. Great space, great location, very peaceful and stocked with everything we could have needed.
The Dish Network could be rewired (signal and picture quality is pretty bad) but that was a minor thing.
The bed in the master is really comfortable and the place was very clean when we checked in.
I forgot to start the dishwasher before we drove away and I felt bad about that- I hope all of the other things that we did made up for it.
We would go back again for a longer stay!
Overall it was a nice stay but there are some things that aren’t working properly
like hot tub, pool table, some bathroom showers, etc.

Not worth the money
Home needs several updates. Furniture is horrible including the living room and bedrooms. It smells and is difficult to get out of. You can rent canoes and kayaks but the beach and lake is a extremely muddy floor and gross. You need to bring your own dish soap, toilet paper, paper towel, hand soap and light bulbs for this property. We had over 12 light bulbs out. Also if you stay during the week nothing is opened between Monday and Thursday….I had to cook my whole vacation. Also there are children running 4 wheelers and lawn mowers every day starting at 8 am so don’t plan on sleeping in. Also some windows have no screens in them and some windows don’t even open because the mechanism was broken. There is a newer pool table but only 1 pool stick. We pulled down a shade in the upstairs bathroom and it fell on my youngest daughter’s head. The hot tub only has 1 jet that works and it’s dirty. The downstairs master bathroom has mold on the ceiling and the other downstairs bathroom shower nozzle had a huge hole in it and was not able to be used until someone came out to fix it. There are weeds everywhere and overgrown so it’s not pretty. No AC so it’s hot and there’s only 1 ceiling fan that goes over speed 1. Save your money and go elsewhere
Overall good experience but there are small changes are needed.
1. No basketball goal post at driveway, while it was on the picture.
2. Needs to fix small things including new trashcans and new glass door for fireplace.
2. Too much animal stools and excreta, specially near the lake. Children was running on it and it really bothered me.
The house has a great lay out. The windows really do let you enjoy the view all the time. The furniture needs updated and the house could use some basic upkeep. Overall it was very relaxing in a beautiful area.
Our family of 3 and 2 dogs loved this property. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you need for home cooked meals. Loved having the use of canoes, paddle boards, and kayaks. The laundry room was nice. Plenty of towels to use.
There were a couple of things that I wished the house had... a broom and dust pan would be nice to sweep up with, at least one hair dryer, and better couches in the living room. The couches are really in bad shape. We ended up just sitting on the floor. But the rest of the house was amazing. Great layout. Lots of space. No deal breakers. We will be back!!!

Deerfield Village Rental
Property is perfectly located in close proximity to skiing and a short car ride to Davis and Thomas. Rental is dated but clean. There was only one roll of toilet paper in each bathroom and two rolls were partially used. Hand soap is not provided and check is early at 10am. We rent a lot in Canaan Valley and have never been expected to bring our own hand soap and toilet paper. According to the rental company this is the norm. 10am checkout is too early especially when you have kids. Would prefer an 11am check out.
We had a great stay here. Beautiful view and amazing home. Very nice trip

Beautiful home gorgeous setting
The home is as it appears online. Plenty of space beautiful setting! Gorgeous fireplace, enough cabinets and for storage space for a week of groceries. Beds were comfortable.
Towels were good but bed linens need replaced. Appliances all worked properly.
There is no pool table in the rec room it has been removed. Hot tub is old but very clean and regularly serviced. Home furnishings are all old and outdated but it’s a lake house rental so it is probably what you would expect. Close to many activities winter or summer. We would definitely come back!
Check-in process was simple and we were allowed early check-in. Cabin had a fresh clean smell upon first entrance. The cabin suited our family fine and was well equipped to cook our Thanksgiving dinner, we did bring a few of our own cooking essentials. We very much enjoyed canoeing on Mirror Lake and my 16 year old twin boys had a blast exploring the surrounding woods. The hot tub was great for a late night soak and the fireplace in the living room was nice on the cold days and nights. Removing the trash was a simple walk by the lake to the realty office that is close by, but not too close to lose any privacy. The pool table was disappointing in that it was almost falling apart and the balls would roll on their own due to the surface being severely unlevel. Overall everyone had a wonderful time and we recommend this property, but not for Thanksgiving because we want it, lol.
The house was perfect. We loved the fireplace, big bay windows, and taking the canoe out on the lake. So close to the adorable town of Davis. Great experience overall
This was a great house for our group but the house could use some touch-ups and when we were there the "lake" was only at amount half full but overall really enjoyed our stay there.
