NO REFUNDS will be given at any time of the year simply because an alternate route must be taken and add additional travel time. Highway 20 is closed in the winter and mountain passes can be closed anytime of the year because of wildfires, rockslides or other occurrences. Directions over all the routes will be sent to. you 3 days before your arrival. Make sure to check pass reports(and they can change while you are en route) and print out the directions before you leave.

2)Trail Access/Closure Information:
If you are coming to hike, bike, or ski on a trail or system of trails which happen to be closed before or during your stay, NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN because of this. We also do not guarantee that the internet will meet your work/school needs. Should you have an issue with internet service, please send us a message through VRBO describing the problem. We will then contact you to troubleshoot. If the issue is not resolved, we will then contact the internet provider, and/or homeowner. Please note... our valley is very rural and getting service personnel to fix things in a timely manner can be a challenge. We rent lodging, not office space.

IMPORTANT WINTER INFORMATION :
**Should you travel to the Methow during the winter months it is important to understand that you must be prepared for winter driving(keep chains, shovel...in the car) and all the inconveniences it causes you and the community you are visiting. If it snows while here you will have to wait for plow service just like every other person in the valley. There are a limited number of plow companies and Methow Reservations nor the owners of the house are in control of the plow company schedules. They have many different contracts and many miles of roads, driveways...to plow. If a plow person or a snow shoveler shows up to clear any area around the house, please do not argue with them or turn them away. Move your vehicles if asked. Your cooperation and patience are required especially after any significant snow accumulation. Should you get stuck you can call Classic Towing in Twisp, WA

**Propane Fireplace--should there be tech issues or the propane fireplace upon your arrival please send a message through Airbnb. Great cabin !

The cabin was in a great location and it was clean! We enjoyed our stay there very much. The screened in porch was great because there are definitely tons of bugs and hornets of all shapes and sizes. We do wish that the access to the river was more clearly described, it’s a very steep bank and hard to travel down. We chose the property due to the river access which we ended up not enjoying very much because it wasn’t very accessible. The cabin was well stocked with everything you need in the kitchen and lots of towels, extra linens etc.We did end up needing to buy more paper towels, only a half used roll was left for us, but that’s on the cleaning company not the host. Overall it was a great stay, nice cabin and would definitely recommend.

Great spot to relax and go hiking/cycling

The cabin is fantastically equipped to host a group of 5 people. The kitchen is fantastic and had every kitchen tool/utensil I needed. The breeze through the cabin at the beginning and end of the day meant that we rarely needed to use the air conditioner even though it was more than 30C outside during the day. Being by the river was fantastic for the dogs to play and cool off. The cabin is in a great location for accessing Buck Mountain and truly any of the local trails.

Wonderfully quaint cabin on the Chewash

This is by far the most well-equipped rental that I have ever stayed in, and the items were well laid out. This is a beautiful property and very secluded. I didn’t see a person all week unless I went to town. The 4/5 on check-in should probably be a 4.5/5, I missed the note on using instructions sent so I was using GPS. But the support team was onsite in ten minutes after being engaged and they were super helpful and very friendly. I only have three very small notes: because I’m a project manager with an engineering brain. The fan in the master clicks, so probably just needs some screws tightened. The batteries in the TV remote died so some spare AA and AAA batteries would have been great. A heads up about the mosquitoes or maybe even spray/lotion/roll-on would have been nice. Like I say, small things so I highly recommend this place.

Riedels at the Bend Part 2

We enjoyed our second ski season visit to the Bend in the River Cabin as much as the first trip. We appreciate the privacy and edge of the river setting. As avid skiers we also like the proximity to many trailheads.

Beautiful cabin just outside Winthrope

We (4 adults and 2 dogs) spent 4 nights in this beautiful and well furnished cabin. Everything was spotless and even better than described. We made good use of the screened in porch and the deck to relax from our daily hikes in the mountains. We loved the decor and enjoyed reading the book detailing the history of the Methow valley. Spectacular old photos! Thanks for sharing your cabin with us,

Peaceful river getaway

Took my parents to get them away to a cabin for some nature and relaxation. The property overall was excellent. It sits right on the Chewuch River. With windows open you can hear the river. We saw over 35 deer in and around the property on one day and ducks in the river. I’m sure they get bears and big cats on occasion too. The home has most everything. I’ve never seen so many types of dishes and kitchen items available. There were plenty of linens. The smart TV is a little tricky to operate, kept asking for a passcode but we could get around it by hitting the back button. The heat is a little unusual. There’s a gas heater that’s disconnected for the summer and a wall heater in most rooms. It does get chilly at night, which I’m ok with but elderly get cold easily. The other bizarre thing is the beds come unmade with a pile of bedding sort of thrown onto them. So you make the beds yourself but it does make you wonder if they’re clean despite the sign on them saying clean. The lighting is dim and everything is brown so it does make you wonder if it’s clean because it’s an unusual way to find items laid out. But there was no other reason to doubt it considering everything else that was done. There was a washer and dryer so I’m guessing you could throw things in if you really wanted to be sure. We did see a lot of ants and yellow jackets both inside and around the cabin. But the screened porch and views off the back deck made everything feel like you were getting what you signed up for. The hot water was turned off so we did need to wait an extra day for hot showers. There didn’t seem to be an explanation for it but it was apparent when you looked at the electrical panel. You won’t be missing anything from home in the kitchen. The bbq on the deck was nice but again the yellow jackets were a nuisance. Overall I liked the place enough to consider buying something like this sometime soon. We missed fishing on the Chewuch by about a week. Lakes were open. It would be tricky to get down to the river but I’d definitely do it and plan my time there around that next time. I could see the salmon trying to get upstream from the banks. It’s 4.5-5 miles into town and it seems the pandemic has done a number on the town. I’m guessing about half the businesses are gone. But the brewery is open and we enjoyed just staying in and relaxing mostly.

Wonderful, comfortable, thoughtful home

We've stayed in a LOT of rentals. Because I like to cook, I often judge them by their kitchen tools/supports. This property was a dream! I LOVED the stainless french press and it had everything we needed. More broadly, the home was really well maintained, had great decor (not frumpy but still reflective of Winthrop) and was an all around lovely home and stay.

In search of snow and solitude.

Great cabin on the river. I have stayed there a few times over the years and always just what I need. Close to town and sno parks which is why I come to Winthrop.

Very beautiful, clean and well stocked home. Quiet and relaxing. Nice to have internet to communicate with the outside world. Beds are super comfy and lots of seating to eat. Access to the river is a challenge but we enjoyed exploring and getting our feet wet!

White Christmas

We had a wonderful time celebrating the holidays at the Bend in the River Cabin. The place was warm and clean with ample kitchen equipment, allowing us to cook many of our meals 'at home'. The place is conveniently located to many of the Methow valley trails, and downtown Winthrop, while still being in a secluded place. We loved watching the deer in the field and flocks of them crossing the river.
