Have you been dreaming of that perfect Alaskan experience? Look no further--this is the answer. The Gathering Place, situated on 160 acres looking out over Lutak Inlet, has one of the most spectacular views in all of Alaska. Watch for humpback whales, sea lions, seals, porpoise, killer whales, eagles, and more right from your front porch as you enjoy your morning coffee or evening nightcap. Truly a piece of heaven most vacationers never get to experience. We are just 3 miles from the Alaska Marine Highway terminal, 7 miles from downtown Haines, and only a mile from the famous Chilkoot River, one of the most popular sites for fishing, bear viewing, and watching eagles.

In the evening head to town for a wonderful dinner at one of our great local restaurants or prepare your own meal in your cabin or on the fire pit just outside your door.

Cabins #1 and #2 are fully furnished, each with a private bath, one bedroom with a queen bed, a sleeping loft accessed by a ladder with a full bed and twin bed, living room with pull-out couch, and a kitchenette, plus a private deck overlooking the water. TV with DVD's, limited wi-fi and cell service.

Each cabin sleeps 4.

Children under 10 not allowed in the loft.
The loft is not suitable for persons with mobility issues

Great Getaway

Very cute cabin, in an amazing location. Gorgeous patio and fire pit overlooking the inlet. About a 7 minute drive into downtown. Has everything you need to cook, coffee maker etc. Would definitely stay again.

I, my wife, and my daughter spent 2 nights here. There were no surprises. Everything was as advertised. The place was clean. The beds were comfortable. We didn’t cook many meals there but we did make dinner one night. The place could use a bit more on the way of kitchen stuff if you’re going to be doing a lot of cooking but it was fine for us. It is right next to the road but there’s very little traffic so it’s not a concern. All in all a nice place to sray.

Haines

My family and I stayed in the lovely cabin number 2. It was a true Alaskan experience for us. The cabin has an open floor plan with kitchen and living room, a queen bedded room on the first floor. Shower toilet and sink, with thirty towels. It also has a loft with a double bed and twin, it is spacious. The Chilkoot Lake State Recreation is short drive up the street. Haines is only seven miles from the cabin. In Haines there is an IGA that has everything. If you're looking to view the night sky with out light pollution the cabin is the place to be. From the dining room table and the deck you have a beautiful view of the lake. We saw bald eagles and a seal. I would not hesitate to recommend these cabins.

Fantastic View

Great location of the cabin, 7 miles outside of town and 2 miles from Chilkoot Park. Cabin was clean and had kitchen stove, small refrigerator, coffee pot, toaster and microwave. Host was very helpful with ideas of where to go to eat and see bears!
