About this property

Nestled in the trees at the junction of where Kootenay Lake flows into the West Arm at Balfour.
Only a short walk to the ferry landing which offers many shops, bakery, groceries, and restaurants.

Our property has an expansive deck where you can sit and watch the ferry travel between Balfour and Kootenay Landing on the east shore of Kootenay Lake. Located right on the lake, one can also sit at the beach and bask in the sunshine and swim in the lake.
There is a fire pit perfect for cool evenings, roasting hot dogs and making s'mores!

The Balfour Golf Course is a short 3 minute drive. A number of other golf courses in the area include:
Kokanee Springs Resort at Crawford Bay - an enjoyable ferry ride across the lake puts you within 5 minutes of the course
Granite Pointe in Nelson is 35 minutes away in Nelson
Castlegar Golf Club is 60 minutes
Birchbank in Trail and Redstone Resort in Rossland are both 90 minutes
Creston Golf Club and Christina Lake Golf Club are each approximately 2 hours away.
All of these courses offer a first class golfing experience!

Kootenay Lake is also excellent for fishing and boating.

Ainsworth Hot Springs is a mere 15 minute drive and the historic town of Kaslo is 30 minutes.

Kokanee Glacier Park is 15 minutes towards Nelson offering ziplining and hiking.

The City of Nelson is a 30 minute drive offering many restaurants and attractions.

Beautiful location!

The property was larger than anticipated and very pretty. We loved the views! It had everything we needed for a very enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend. We even rented a boat from Jones Boys Boats in Ainsworth and had a great day out on Kootenay Lake.

Relaxing getaway in the Kootenay lake

We had an amazing time at lake cabin. The place was clean and comfortable. The view from the lake was beautiful. We spent plenty of our time by the water/dock. Balfour ferry and amenities were just a few minutes away by foot or even just paddle/kayak there. We definitely recommend this place and we plan to stay there again on our next getaway. Thank you Jill, you have a beautiful place.

Lovely cottage right on the water

Wonderful cottage with two comfy bedrooms and fabulous deck and private water access. Kitchen is fully stocked and there are loads of board games to enjoy as well. The host was responsive with my query about arriving late. Beautiful, special location.

Beautiful property & cabin in a perfect location!

You will not be disappointed with a choice of this property for your stay in the Balfour area! Perfectly situated for trips into Nelson, Kaslo or over to Crawford Bay this property has it all. There was not one thing missing from this well appointed cabin - literally everything you need right here in this beautiful spot for the days you just want to hang out at the lake or on the expansive deck to watch the ferries pass by. I cannot say enough good things about Jill's property, including her amazing contact and communication when needed. Highly recommend - we will be back ASAP! Thank you :)

Cozy Cabin, great getaway

The cottage was cozy, equipped with all the amenities, including plenty of board games. Our kids had a blast outside, roasting marshmallows on the bonfire. Jill answered my inquiries timely and showed she genuinely cared about our stay.

Kooteneys in the fall

The first time we came to Jill's in 2020 we didn't stay long. We were so impressed with the whole place that we knew we had to come back and stay longer so we did. Everything you needed was there. The cottage was warm and cozy and clean. The yard and views of the mountains also awesome. We had an enjoyable 14 days and hope to come again. Thank you Jill

Lakefront Gem

This property is as shown in the pictures, a wonderful and comfortable place to stay. Very well appointed kitchen with everything you could want for cooking or BBQ. Despite the wildfire smoke during our stay, we ate every meal out on the wonderful deck overlooking the lake. Highly recommend! Best to buy your groceries and wine in Nelson as the local store, while good in a pinch, has limited supplies.

Balfour Getaway

Quiet getaway

Excellent little cabin, although it was bigger than we were expecting. Quiet neighbourhood, nice big yard, very comfy. Our little girl loved watching the ferry go by. Thanks!

Little gem by the lake

Had a super relaxing time in this fantastic property by the lake. Walks along the shore line, swimming, canoeing, hiking. It’s all here. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Great Waterfront Property

This gorgeous cabin is just as pictured. You really can just walk straight out to the water. The views from the deck are spectacular. The cabin has anything you may need. Although there are neighbours, the way the cabin/decks are situated and the large lot size there is so much privacy. The owner was so pleasant to deal with and answered any questions we had.

Fantastic little cabin on the lake

This was the perfect spot for a short family vacation. Spent lots of time on the deck overlooking the lake. Backs onto a rocky beach perfect for littles who like throwing rocks into the water. The ferry boats were a hit with our three-year-old too. Wish we could've stayed longer.
