We had the good fortune of staying in both the main house, and the guest house. They are both absolutely fabulous, and the owners are genuine, responsive, and caring people. Wonderful experience!

Excellent and hope to return

We had an excellent family vacation at this home! The property was wonderful, especially the beautiful waterfront, which my four-year-old twin daughters couldn't get enough of. The location also made it possible for us to explore other nearby downtown areas, such as Charlevoix, Boyne City, and Petoskey, and we took a day trip to Mackinac Island. Our only recommendation would be to consider adding shades to the bedroom windows for privacy due to the wraparound porch. Highly recommend staying here - thank you!

Wonderful Walloon Lake!

Large historic cottage that takes you back in time! The lot is rather private and the location is fabulous! We rented a pontoon to enjoy all the wonders this lake has to offer & discovered just how fabulous Lake Walloon truly is! The owners are a dream to work with, neighbors friendly and look out for one another. The beach area was perfect for my toddler grandson and my sons had a great time fishing off the dock. Sunsets are breathtaking!! Less than 30 minutes to Lake Michigan which was a bonus for us! Weather could not have been more perfect - We had a great time!!

The Main Cottage is very homey and the lake access is very convenient.

I would have given this property 5 stars but for 3 things: There were no curtains on any of the windows so it was a little unsettling at night, especially for the older members of my family. This property lacked a TV/DVD player which was a big disappointment because we brought movies to watch in the evenings. Also, the beds were very squeaky. On the other hand, we loved Walloon Lake, the easy beach access, and ample outdoor seating.

Great location, rustic stay

We stayed here for a long weekend for a wedding, 7 adults. The 3 double/king bedrooms worked out nicely for couples. The rooms were plenty spacious. The twin beds in the fourth room are uncomfortable and sit very low to the ground. Not a great option for adult sleeping. The kitchen was well stocked with spices, pots and pans, and everything we needed for the weekend. Plus, plenty of space for multiple people to be in the kitchen at one time and enough seats for eating. The position of the property on the water blocked the wind nicely compared to what we experienced just on the other side. All that said, the property is very rustic. All of the doors are loud, and some don’t close easily or at all. I couldn’t get enough signal to make a phone call but was able to work over the WIFI for one of the days with minimal issues. While we were there, the temperature decreased to 50/60F. With most of the windows closed, the main floor had a damp smell. I can’t imagine it would be much better during a humid summer day with no A/C. The living room couch, carpet, and towels were all well-worn.

Peaceful weekend away.

The property location, large grassy yard, dock, beach and lake were so serene and everything we wanted. We would stay there again and again. You cannot beat the location. There was an extensive sandy beach for the toddlers to dig in and plenty of dock to fish in. The yard is big enough for a family game of football. We had a bonfire and s’mores every night. The property is tucked back a little which is ideal and the wooded view across the lake was picture perfect for coffee in the AM and wine in the PM. We brought jet skis and played in the water the entire time. The house is outdated but I did not mind. It definitely felt like a cabin and the beds were comfy. No TV meant the kids were more than happy to be outside soaking up the clean Michigan air. We will be back again. Can’t wait for all of the house updates the owner is working through!

Family Vacation after the passing of our son,

Our son lived and worked on Walloon Lake for years. We always spent a family vacation up there every summer. He passed earlier this year. We had a celebration of his life at Bear Cove Marina. We were looking for a cottage for our family to stay there. We were very pleased with picked this cottage. We made some great new family memories while reminiscing about past memories of our late son. The setting of the porch picnic table overlooking the lake was a wonderful place to eat our family meals. We enjoyed our coffee on the upper deck while we watch the sun come up. and the boats go by. The sunsets were just as beautiful. The sandy beach was a great place to swim or relax sitting in a chair in the water, There was plenty of room for our family in the cottage. Nice, clean and spacious rooms. Complete with everything we needed. They owner of the cottage was very easy to work with. Caring about the loss of our son and hoping the trip would be good for everyone. We would love to go back there every year!

Classic cottage and great location on Walloon

Beautiful sunsets and great location on the lake. Quiet area. Massive house, especially for an older home. Decks were terrific. Exceptional communication from Catherine. It felt like we were staying in a family member’s house. Note: 2 full baths, but only one smaller shower on the first floor. No shades, but the trees provide cover, We’d definitely stay here again. We rented both houses in the property to have it all to ourselves.

Main Cottage is a great lakeside retreat

We rented both the main and 'guest' cottage for our trip. Together, both had more than enough room for the 11 people we had in tow. Plenty of couch/floor space in the living room to fit a few more people too. Main cottage had plenty of room inside including decently equipped kitchen. Outside the deck(s) are great for gathering with a big yard for activities and a firepit. Lakeview/access was great. Highly recommended
