Welcome to Tofte Cove! With its large flat lot, beautifully updated home and amazing views, our property is ideal for groups of all ages. It’s conveniently located near some of the North Shore’s most popular hiking, skiing, biking and dining spots. Enjoy amazing views from two expansive decks, private lake access to relax by the water, or a cozy bonfire overlooking the lake.
Inside, you’ll find an inviting, upscale home recently remodeled with new appliances and all the amenities. The main level has two bedrooms (1 king; 1 double/1 twin), full bath with rain shower and separate soaking tub, gourmet kitchen with large dining area, and spacious living room with vaulted
ceiling and gas fireplace. The lower level includes a 3/4 bath and family room featuring a smart TV for movie nights and sofa sleeper for extra guests. Large windows and decks on both levels showcase nature in all seasons. Outside there’s a gas grill, adirondack chairs, fire pit and ample parking.
From Tofte Cove, it’s 2 minutes to Tofte, 15 minutes to Lutsen Mountain and 45 minutes to Grand Marais by car. Or, walk or bike the paved Gitchee-Gummi trail for miles—there’s an access point at the end of our driveway. Cross-country ski lovers can join the Sugarbush Trail System just across
Highway 61. Nearby attractions include Superior National Golf Course, Lutsen Ski Resort and Temperance River State Park.

A Hidden Gem on the Shores of Lake Superior

This place absolutely blew us away. Booking was seamless. From the the moment we stepped inside, we were in awe. The home is beautifully updated, spotlessly clean, and thoughtfully appointed with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked, and the welcome gift waiting for us was such a kind touch.Every morning, we were greeted by breathtaking sunrises over Lake Superior through massive picture windows. The gas fireplace and heated floors added such a cozy, luxurious feel, and the entire home felt fresh, warm, and inviting.The bedding and linens were perfect—plush, clean, and so comfortable (and I’m very particular about that!). I honestly didn’t want to leave.The location is ideal—close to everything we needed, yet perfectly tucked away from everything we wanted to escape. We skied at Lutsen, explored scenic bike trails, and enjoyed the quiet, restorative pace of the North Shore. I picked up a few books in Grand Marais and spent each afternoon curled up by the fire with a blanket and the lake just beyond the windows.The sky here is beautifully dark. We didn’t catch the Northern Lights this time, but we’re already planning a return trip during winter for another chance.It’s rare to find a place so well thought out. From extra towels and pillows to books, puzzles, first aid supplies, and more—every little detail was covered.Honestly scared to let this secret out!

Lovely property in superb location

Beautiful home overlooking The Big Lake. It was a perfect base from which to launch our adventures. We cross country skied and hiked despite below zero temps The home is everything we hoped and more. Comfortable stylish and functional.

Stunning Property

Great hiking area

Awesome location and accommodations. Would highly recommend. Close to lots of hiking and waterfalls, as well as great views of Lake Superior during the day and night time sky gazing.

Purely serene

This place is nearly perfect and the owners take pride in this property. They provide so many amenities down to the toilet paper. One thing to take note is that the cove is completely private and you are the only one that can access it from the property. Be aware this is a strenuous walk down to thr cove and back up will give you a workout. Totally worth it though. The rocks get slippery with algae so tread carefully. One improvement I would recommend is put A/C in the house even though it’s not hot weather here often we had 80’s and 90’s for a few days and the house was uncomfortable. We were expecting cooler weather but it was warmer than usual this year. Aside from that this is by far the best Vrbo we have rented and would recommend to anyone. Thank you to the host for your care in providing us the opportunity to stay in your amazing lake house.

Great place!

The house was so clean and the rooms were bigger than it looked in the pictures. It had a very warm and inviting feel with such a great view! We had all the amenities we needed and really enjoyed our stay. I'd definitely book this house again!

Girls trip-Halloween

Four of us wanted to get away from everybody. Two of my friends walked in and stated they were never leaving! What a beautiful spot!! It’s was too chilly for us for the bonfire (Halloween weekend) but the gas fireplace kicked out some flames. I expect we will re-book & my friends will bring their families on a different trip.

Such wow

The North Shore has long been "our place." We usually stay at a resort named after a kind of tuna but decided to try something different this year, and we were completely blown away by this property. The kitchen was amazing. The view was amazing. The private cove was amazing. The privacy and seclusion was amazing. I completely recommend it, without any reservations. We were completely "wowed."

Perfect location!

We didn't take our senior dog to the North Shore this year so that opened up other options for places to stay. Tofte Cove was perfect for us. We used the grill every night and ate dinner on the deck overlooking the lake. We love going biking and bought our bikes up this year. It is only about a 6 mile ride to the winery on the Gitchi gami trail (house is right on the trail). Close to the grocery store, Coho cafe and Sawbill outfitters (for canoe rental etc.) The owner had suggestions for hikes and places to eat. It was just my husband and myself but the home has plenty of room for more people. There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor. The smaller bedroom has a double bed and a single. You would share the main floor bath with the primary bedroom. Perfect for a family. The downstairs room has a sleeper sofa and a view of the lake along with a small bathroom with a shower. If coming with a second couple, you could have separate spaces/bathrooms. Our only trouble was knowing where to turn left when driving back from Grand Marais. We missed it every time. GPS was slightly off. Having a decorative flag would be helpful near the mailbox. Highly recommend staying here! Perfect stay!
