We arrived to the house and as soon as we opened the door we were hit with heat and a musty odor. The house has no AC. There are no fans in the bedrooms just in the main living room and many of the windows were broken throughout the entire house. The handrail down the stairs was pulled off the wall. The kitchen was missing basic items needed for cooking. The dishes that were there were dirty. The toilet seat in the main level bathroom was broken off. The faucet in the kitchen leaked. Many of the drawer and door facings in the kitchen were broken. The awning over the large porch was ripped in several places. In the "game room" the fooz ball table was missing a leg. The pool table felt and bumpers are very worn. The pool cues that aren't broken were warped. There are no TVs in the bedrooms, only in the game room and living room. We only stayed one night and rented another house instead. The owner only offered a 20% refund. We have video and photos but you can't post with reviews.
The House was adequate for 11 family members with 6 bedrooms and enough baths for all. A well stocked kitchen and Wi-Fi was available. Some of our phones had no service at the location, but not a problem arose which needed their use. We could communicate with each other through social media. The fire pit was a great spot to make s'mores and tell stories. Cool mountain fresh air was very much appreciated, no A/C needed. We enjoyed our stay.
The house wasn’t clean , had to wash all the sheets, and dishes. Not great communication with property manager was told the code late of check in time.
The house heat was up so high the stuck candles melted. Clearly a party house would be scared to walk around with a black light. There isn’t a full set of pool balls. Trash from previous renters in the yard.
They refunded a portion of my bill but didn’t feel properly compensated. Stay elsewhere if available
My family so enjoyed staying in the mountains for Thanksgiving! The home was in a terrific location and well appointed - mostly. The rooms were great and the game room was fantastic! We also enjoyed the view during the day and the fire pit at night! Fantastic! We were hoping for an early snow which would have been icing in the cake! Owner
was responsive. Only 2 things were towel situation was a bit underwhelming and “hot tub” was a jetted tub in master that did not have a plug that worked. Not huge negatives but disappointing nonetheless. Otherwise cool place with room for all! Cozy, inviting & loved having a piano in the main room! Maybe a few more chairs on the deck overlooking the mountains to accommodate all guests for a 6 BR home. Overall, we were all happy and enjoyed being in the mountains for Thanksgiving! 💕💕
We stayed the weekend and went snow tubing. The house was perfect for our two families of 11. Plenty of room bedrooms was nice as well as the decks and view. My only suggestion would be some candle warmers because it has a slight musty smell. Just as if it had been unused and closed up. We could definitely stay again.

Family get away
Overall cleanliness at arrival wasn’t great. Shower curtains filthy, no tissue, paper towels or additional trash bags available. The view wasn’t the best as there’s no view of the mountains. Location is 30-45 minutes from grocery stores but size of house itself is great for groups that want to enjoy a quiet weekend with friends/family. Only 2 TVs, one on main floor and one on bottom in game room. Plenty on firewood available, got chilly this weekend was very convenient.
Great property for a large group. All necessities provided, and owners and manager were incredibly nice. Easy to communicate! Several great places to eat on the mountain and more off the mountain in Banner Elk. Or, just stay home and cook or grill. Very well equipped in that regard. Only caution is to use phone GPS vs. car GPS once on the mountain or you will wind up in the wrong place. There are two streets with the same name on the mountain.
This was a great place place to stay! Just as described on listing. Only issue we had was main kitchen light was not working. But this did not have any effect on anything. There are other lights in kitchen. This is a great place for a big family looking a place so everyone has there own bedroom with either a queen or king bed. We had 11 adults and couples had there own room.
We thought the house was well-appointed and suited our size group perfectly. We made music in the game room and living room, grilled and napped on the deck, and shared memories of family life around the dining table. Steps were somewhat tricky for us older ones, but otherwise found the home warm and inviting Only suggestion would be to have one more large skillet to make group meals a little easier.
The house was clean and presented as described online. We ran into a few issues while there. The cleaning lady randomly showed up the day before checkout to clean the house. We explained that we booked the house until the following day and she left. About 30mins later, a random man on a motorcycle pulled up beside our cars and just sat outside. We went outside to see what he needed and he said he was lost and trying to find directions on his GPS. The timing of the random visitors was odd and didn’t feel like it was just a coincidence. The host was responsive and helpful during the booking process. When we arrived at the home, we realized the grill was in dire need of repair. We were able to rig it enough to use it but I’d encourage a replacement in the near future. The home is situated off the main road and very quiet if you don’t get any surprise guests. The view wasn’t the best but is great for groups that want to enjoy a quiet weekend with friends/family.
We loved the house itself and it met our needs. We had 5 couples all over 50 yrs old. The last two days we had very light snow. There were some cleaning issues when we arrived but we reported it so hopefully it was taken care of. Nice and quiet no traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed it otherwise
This house is great for a large group. It’s not easy to find 6 bedrooms that all have a queen or king, so for our cousins reunion it was terrific! Only 2 bedrooms needed to share a bath. Kitchen has everything you could need, including new alliances that are so hi-tech we got the giggles trying to figure than all out.
The grill was too filthy to use-luckily one cousin had brought his, as our meal plan featured a lot of grilling. And the house is way up a very steep mountain, 20-30 minutes from groceries and local activities. Otherwise, it’s pretty great!
The property location is perfect for hiking. The house was clean and spacious, good for big group. The kitchen is well equipped, the rooms are simple but nicely decorated. The 10 seats table was a bonus. We couldn't use the grill, it is really need a replacement but everything else was really good. I recommend to anyone.

Liked: Check-in, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Cleanliness, communication
Would have given 4 stars if host had communicated with me.
PROS: Close to slopes,
Reasonably priced,
Large enough for extended family,
Game room,
Comfortable beds and furniture.
Great water pressure and hot water.
Great TV in main room only-cable, HBO max, Netflix, Disney, etc.
Newer kitchen appliances
Good communication until check-in, then did not return emails.
CONS: 2nd floor (Master and 2 others) not for light sleepers. When someone is walking on top floor it sounds like a herd of cattle--very LOUD.
Could have been cleaner.
No TVs in bedrooms
Had to purchase basic supplies ie toilet paper, garbage bags, paper towels.
Host "River" did not answer emails after check-in. (Tried to report issue, but received no response). 4 emails total, no response.
We had the best weekend. The property was perfect for families. Very clean and well stocked. Location was great for Beech Mtn skiing. Owners were very easy to communicate with. Would love to come back. Thank you for the wonderful memories
The property was the perfect size for our group. The fully functional kitchen was great. Perfect place for family and friends to stay together while having space to spread out.
