About this property

Idyllic Family Chateau with Pool and 26 Hectares of Forests and Fields

Approaching the Chateau down the long winding tree lined drive for the first time is like stepping into the past. The Chateau park itself is a magnificent 26 hectares of fields, streams and 300 yr. old trees. There are 8 bedrooms and 5 1/2 bathrooms. which can accommodate 17 guests. The Winter House, a separate dwelling, may be rented as well and can accommodate 4 guests. Each room is tastefully decorated with antiques. There is a large tapestry lined salon/drawing room with walk in fireplace, two libraries, dining room and a fully equipped eat-in kitchen and pantry. The Chateau and the Winter House have been restored to a very high standard and the rooms are both elegant and comfortable. This house is perfect for family & friend groups, entertaining, weddings and special events. There is a 17 metre long salt-water pool, designed to blend in with the surroundings. There is also a large lake, with kayaking, canoeing and fishing facilities, only one kilometre away. Guests who enjoy cooking will be thrilled with the professional LaCanche stove for cooking. Also, guests may request that bread, pastries and pizza be prepared and made in our own ancient bakery oven located on the Chateau grounds. With so much comfort guests are generally reluctant to do the many things on offer in the environs of the Chateau such as sightseeing, canoeing, waterskiing, sailing, biking, fishing, hunting, swimming, tennis etc. Given the size of the property there is a caretaker and his wife living in their cottage. Maidservice and catering can also be made available in the summer months. The Chateau is also available for Weddings, Events, Seminars, Corporate or Wellness Retreats and other special events. The Winter House, a beautifully refurbished 17th century farm house, can be separately rented, or as an ensemble with the Chateau.

Message to both Marc & Maria: as said when we spoke over the phone, what an amazing place to spend a good time ! We value the effort you must put to keep the domain up and running, just go on! It allows people like us to visit the place, respect it, enjoy a certain "art de vivre". Last but not least, we are really looking forward to coming back.

Amazing!
Our stay at the Chateau exceeded all of our expectations! The house itself is simply beautiful and obviously very loved! Nine of us have stayed in somewhere so well equipped which was a treat especially for all the cooks amongst us! The children loved the pool and space ....as did all the parents! Marc could not have been more helpful either We will be back for sure! Thanks for everything

Peaceful Grandeur
Chateau Beaufort is a stunning property with two long entrance driveways, and an immense stone home surrounded by 100 acres of grass, trees and grazing meadows. This home is ideal for groups of 8 to 20. The remodeled kitchen has everything you need to cater to a large group. The first floor bedrooms are spacious and well appointed and the baths are recently remodeled. The 4 bedrooms on the upper floor are less elegant and share one bath. The dining room seats 10 and the kitchen another 10. We did 1000 piece puzzles on one of the kitchen tables as it is such a gathering place. The living room is huge and seats 10 comfortably with a large screen TV and lots of books. The pool is amazing with a salt water system and lots of lounges for sunbathing. The peace and quiet of the grounds allow you to hear the songbirds singing all day. The owners (Marc and Marie) were most accomodating our needs early as we settled in and worked out some initial kinks. Their caretakers, Jon Michel and Isabel, were truly amazing and solved all our early issues with beds, plumbing and an older washing machine that was replaced. Jon Michel is also the town baker and a source of daily bread and the occasional pizza. The grounds teem with flowers that we could cut and bring into the house. An organic garden was a source of lettuce, strawberries, and green beans. We had 16 friends and 14 family members there at various times during our one month stay and everyone had a life changing experience. The owners are working on solving our one issue of excessive flies that the grazing sheep brought to the party. Overall, this is an exceptional vacation experience for larger groups and get a five star rating from our family!! This is definitely a “low key” rural location with narrow curvy roads with some distances to travel for sights and activities. The town of La Roche-Canillac is quiet, but has the Boulangerie, Pharmacy and a sweet small grocery store with a great selection of fruits, veggies and general goods. Bob Voyage!!!

Lovely French getaway
We recently had the wonderful opportunity to stay at Chateau Beaufort in La Roche Canillac, France. We decided to stay in the main house, as we were visiting with our large family and a few friends from the US. Last summer my husband and I rented the smaller "Winter House" for a romantic getaway, so we were familiar with the area and the property, and couldn't wait to return. The grounds are incredible, and you feel so secluded, perfect for a break from the chaos of the city! The caretaker, Ernest, is a kind man who was able to help us out with any small questions we had. The interior of the Chateau is refined, but also very relaxing. There are loads of great spaces to spend time in- the kitchen table, (more than enough for our large family,) sitting room with ornate tapestries, a library, and a games room (perfect for young kids AND teenagers!), there is something for everyone. Little thoughtful extras like a high chair and plastic cutlery for babies were greatly appreciated as well. As it was winter, we were overjoyed to experience a roaring fire in the incredible fireplace in the sitting room. I honestly cannot recommend this property enough for anyone looking to get away from it all and experience the Beautiful French countryside.

Stunning chateau in wonderful position surrounded by hills and lakes
We had a brilliant2 week stay with teenage families in August. Fabulous home with exquisite furnishings and fully equipped. Ernest the caretaker was very attentive and helpful, and the owners were super responsive too. Surrounded by lakes which provided endless fun with diving boards and acres of swimming- often entirely alone! Plenty of fun at the bottom of the valley on the upper Dordogne- kayaking, standup paddleboarding, and for the adventurous , waterfall climbing with Arjen. Will definitely return! Picture perfect village of la Roche canillac- With the boulangerie in the Mairie and a well stocked epicerie- both a quick walk from the house, or even shorter bike! Pretty remote so don't expect vibrant nightlife or lots of nearby restaurants- you have to drive to find them. Lovely markets and pretty churches too. Massively recommend!

Simply perfect!
As a venue for a holiday with the whole family, the Chateau de Beaufort is hard to beat. We were 14 persons in total, and we all were comfortably lodged in very nice rooms. The house is very spacious and very cosy, we had the feeling of being in our very own maison thecampagne. Small problems were immediately taken care of by the very kind concierge couple Ernesto and Jacquie. The surroundings, the perfect quiet, the cast garden, the magnificent swimming pool, the vicinity of the baker's shop, the perfectly equipped kitchen... it all added up to our total satisfaction. We certainly recommend this place to our friends. And we are sure to come back the next time we want to spent a week together with our whole family.

wonderful and sumptuous Chateau -
A palatial residence with wonderful, stylish interior furnishings as well as large grounds. The perfect place for a family gathering with a pool and games room for kids. The hosts were very helpful as were the couple who live next door and are on hand to help as caretakers. A very verdant area with lots of walks and opportunities for water sports. It is a hidden gem!!

Amazing Chateau great welcoming
We found our way through the woods arrived into a spectacular driveway of this magnificent Chateau. Family friendly, lots of space outside to play with the kids. delicious dinners under the stars and the sky with candles and delicious food made by a local cook. The rooms are so authentic with french furniture. the rooms are overlooking at the wide great green garden. short distance to the lake with many water activities and the "ropes park & climbing". we had a great time. or like my little son say: "we had the best summer ever". we defiantly going to visit again !

Nice stay at Le Château de Beaufort
Nice stay at Le Château de Beaufort: heartwarming place we wish we could own. All is there to live some unforgettable times: sports (tennis, swimming pool, kayak on the Dordogne river, footing) and culture with a few expositions taking place inside nearby châteaux. BBQ nights under the starry sky or inside the vast lounge. Our only wish, coming back.

Look forward to return!
Chateau de Beaufort brought much more than expected. Not only to the father of four, but certainly also to the kids (aged 5-11). Situated in the beautiful Correze with forrest & lakes, the Chateau is the perfect place to be. With the 'boulanger' virtually around the corner, each day starts with a smile. Appealing and challenging outdoor activities are well spread in the neighborhood. Interesting villages from which one returns with the 'catch of the day'. When eating the chicken bought from the "Charcutier" one again understands the saying 'living like God in France'. The well maintained property provides for an excellent playing ground for a tribe of kids. Not only to recommend to friends and family, but even better: to invite them during your stay!

Impressive Chateau Property
Magnificent place to relax, commune with history and nature. The Chateau sits atop a hill above the lovely village and my first impression upon driving up the long driveway was truly breathtaking. The main house is quite impressive and welcoming. The furnishings are tasteful antiques that take one back in time. The Great Room has a massive fireplace and windows on 3 sides which highlight the views to the wooded side of the property, down toward the tributaries of the Dordogne River. There are several bedrooms, all beautifully appointed. The formal dining room is a treat for sit down dinners, but we actually dined outside more often, given the beautiful setting. The salt water pool is splendid, and there's a boule/petanque court aside it, with an outbuilding that provides shade for those that need it! The village is an easy walk, and I did it each morning to collect our morning pastries and fresh bread. The lake is walking distance, the water is gorgeous. We loved the nearby tennis courts

I am an interior designer and my husband is a retired banker. We have 3 children and now 3 grandchildren and are avid travelers.

Why they chose this property

The house sits on a hill overlooking the valley, fields and forests which surround it. I have always remarked at how the air and water is so clean you can feel it almost immediately. The locals tell me, it's too bad we can't bottle the air or we would be rich beyond our wildest dreams. We have painstakingly renovated the chateau over the years and have made it a comfortable home with all the amenities. The chateau itself originated in the 14th century and possibly earlier and is surrounded by 25 hectares of woods, fields and streams. A starry night is a sight to behold.
