We spent a long-weekend at The Alpine House in mid-September. We were in the area to attend our daughter’s wedding which took place at Pat’s Summit in nearby Kimball/Jasper Highlands. We chose the Alpine House over other accommodations initially because of its size—we had four couples stay at the house, and we didn’t want to be separated into different cabins, etc.
WE WERE EXTREMELY PLEASED WITH OUR STAY, AND FEEL THE ALPINE HOUSE IS A WELL RUN PROPERTY AND AN EXCELLENT VALUE. IT’S ESPECIALLY GREAT FOR LARGE GROUPS!
Five or Six bedrooms, 4.5 baths, a second floor balcony, a wraparound front porch, huge kitchen, two sets of washers/dryers, lots of outdoor space, ample parking, a million dollar view…this place literally has it all!!!!
We communicated with the owners both before and throughout our stay and they were always available to answer questions and very accommodating.
The house was very well equipped—toiletries, linens/towels, pantry items, laundry supplies—they’ve thought of everything.
We spent our days cooking brunch as a family, and then “catching up” in the sitting room before we would venture into town for various wedding events throughout the weekend.
One thing to remember, this is a 150 year old house. It’s not the new Hyatt or Ritz Carlton. Everything works well, and the home has been wonderfully maintained and VERY clean …but keep in mind it’s still a 150 year old house, which makes this property even more charming and unique . If you’ve ever owned an old home before, you’ll know what we mean—a few creaks, a slight tilt on some floors, a door that doesn’t quite align—all part of the “charm”. But, all of the modern conveniences are there…televisions in all bedrooms, strong wi-fi, ceiling fans and AC, jetted tubs in the bedrooms, etc.
You’re about 15 minutes to the nearest town, which has a gas station, a few fast food restaurants and a very nice Wal Mart.
If you are unfamiliar with the area, try to arrive during the daylight. The drive to the house in the dark can be a bit intimidating to those unfamiliar with the roads.
If you need a large house for your entire family, and want something comfortable, affordable and private…the Alpine House is a GREAT CHOICE. We highly recommend it.
