Came here in February! Perfect for indoor beach watching and listening without getting too cold! Loved the parking spot and access to the beach!Would have like to have more secure internet connection for work purposes. Bed is soft.
Check in was difficult finding the key was hard and had to contact the manager, lighting is nonexistent going up the stairs and made it dangerous. There are two remotes to work the heating it took to the next day to turn on the heat very cold night.
We really enjoyed the property. You can’t beat the beach view and access. The interior of the property is cute and easy to stay in. Property manager was wonderful throughout.
Beautiful spot. Just well a bit worn. No fan in the bathroom. Shower water was cold the whole stay after about 15 minutes but is is also shared with another unit so lesson learned that will be a future question for stays. . We talked to maintenance a couple times about how fast the water gets cold and well, it still did it so we just accepted it. You go up 3 flights of stairs to get to the condo which is fine it's a phenominal view but there is no lighting on the stairs . It looks like they have solar lights on them but none of them work. Internet kept going out and saying check network. Again great spot just needs some updating.
My husband and I just got home from a quick little getaway. It was the most perfect little place. Exactly what we needed. Lovely views of the ocean and such a cheery bright apartment! Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.
The view was beautiful and we had a wonderful time with our dog on the beach just steps outside from the door.

For your consideration, heads up!
I take zero pleasure in wrtiting this, but the conditions of this propertyprice is absolutely unacceptable. I Have stayed here before, all previous reviews are correct-"def needs upgrades". My opion now, this place needs to be gutted. No effort has been made to buckeled cheap flooring, the moldy cabinets throughout, the leaky outdated sinksweird lean of the gross toilet. But this time, no effort to even Clean! Mold in shower, grim on bathroom floor mold on dishware. Beach access is so skecky (bc you litally have to cross the others renters quarters for access) it was so uncomfortable. Zero instructions on how to use the tv/stream. Shared wifi was so spotty i could never enjoy anything on my laptop. I let a day early after paying an arm n a leg..after i saw roaches, i was out! So disappointed disturbed. Do not rent this property.
Realtor notified us on day of arrival and we had to change properties due to air conditioning issues.

Nice but has issues.
Here’s the carrot: beautiful location with amazing views and far from the craziness around Center St. Two cool decks and private access to the beach. The shower is awesome and the place came with amply supply of trash bags. Here’s the stick: This isn’t on the host, but the property management called the day prior in an attempt to up-sale me on an early arrival or late departure, while negotiating the price the caller then noticed that they can do neither; unprofessional and a waste of time.As for the unit, not as comfortable as advertised. NEEDS A NEW BED! Surface of the bed is like a lying on the edge of a black hole. When you lay down the pit in the middle sucks you in. I can’t believe nobody hasn’t commented about this. The bed totally wrecked my back. The toilet has a hard lean to the right. The 2 outside chairs are uncomfortable and flimsy, also only one chaise lounge on the 1st landing. Why not 2 to watch the sky at night? Lastly, not that it was advertised, there is nothing in the kitchen other than silverware, assorted dishes and pots/pans. No coffee, coffee filters, paper towels, salt & pepper, sweeteners or spices. Wished we had known this before having to make an extra trip to a grocery. To summarize, Zen has amazing views and great beach access but it’s overpriced considering the uncomfortable bed and lack of comfortable outdoor furniture and lack of towels/washcloths.
What a great place. Leave the door open to wake up and fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean. Take a Warm outdoor tub under the moon. We had such a relaxing and enjoyable time. Walk right off the deck to the beach. Apartment was clean with everything needed for an easy week. Found the price to be very fair for the view and access. Bed and shower were great and the entire dwelling was even more comfortable than the pictures represented. With gratitude.
This property is an "apartment" that is attached to a main house via a separate entrance. We stayed with our 2 year old and had just enough space. There is one bedroom and one bathroom with a private beach access deck. Private but shared with the attached house.
Step off the deck though and you're on the beach! Can't get any closer! The kitchen was stocked well and the property was clean. It does show it's age and will probably need updates soon, but overall is a great property.
The owner was responsive when needed. The views are great. I would definitely recommend this property if you're looking for a beach getaway! Especially if you are a solo traveler, couple or (maybe) have a small child.
Perfect size for a couple. I didn't realize how close to the Washout it was on the 13th block so the beach was much busier than we're used to but it was entertaining to sit on the top deck and watch all the surfers. Loved the record player and functioning tub on the deck. Parking spot/pad fit our large SUV. One of the only places we've ever rented that gives you more than enough bath towels for your stay.
WE have stayed at this place before and enjoyed it in the past due to its location, cleanliness, availability of provided condiments etc. This time not so much. No cooking oils/spray, aluminum foil, dish soap, no ice, nothing. Granted we went to the store and got what we needed, but last time made us have expectations. Also, there were no directions for the Roku devices and couldnt get them to work. Direct TV worked with no issues and so did the internet but again, no directions and no written directions on how to leave key and how to unlock the whatever that lock thing was, so we left it in the plastic surrounding box. It also is need of updating. Unfortunately, we will not be staying here again even though we love the location and enjoyed our past stays.
DO NOT RENT!! Not as advertised!! Tons of steps!!!
I will be fair in this review and list the pros and cons- unlike the reviews I read that convinced us to rent in the first place.
Pros- the view is good, although it is obstructed. The house sits behind large groves.
The bed is comfortable. The shower -very small but very nice.
There is a private walkway to the beach, but it’s shared with the main house down several steps- if someone is renting the main house you walk through their back deck
Cons:
1. Not as advertised, it’s in a not good part of Folly. The East end past the 13 block. Its a weird set up
2. Very run down inside and out. Soft floors. Needs painting. Toilet slants to left- you sit down and it leans bad.
3. STEPS! there are 28 steps to the top apartment- not recommended for anyone who can’t do steps or if you don’t want to lug a lot of stuff up.
4. NO instructions for how to close the blinds
5. Sliding glass door that didn’t lock!! We thought the first night we fixed it, but it was a false since of security that was very upsetting. Maintenance came, said it’s fixed we double checked and it was not- this consumed multiple hours of our vacation. After several hours they discovered they couldn’t find the part. They gave us a board to put in the door- our last day.
6. The TV is way too high, it’s basically on the ceiling above the top of the sliding glass door on the right.
Full disclosure-Folly’s Best Rentals did credit us for one night-350$. It was not enough. We will never rent this property again!!
We had a wonderful stay at Zen of the Wast End. We enjoyed the decor and the views from the deck were beautiful. Comfortable and inviting, the place had everything we needed. We look forward to returning!
