Kiawah Island House

The location is great, 8 mins walk to the beach, very recommendable to rent bikes in the golf club. The neighbourhood is very nice but the house is a bit dark and does not have the light that has in the online pictures. It would be good to have a table and chairs outside to have breakfast or lunch. We missed ammenities, there are not much.

Family Christmas

The property was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The weather was nice and it would have been nice to have chairs on the porch. Otherwise, we were satisfied with the property.

Good Value

Even though this cottage wasn’t perfect, it was a great deal especially for staying on Kiawah minutes from everything including the beach. Vacasa was extremely attentive and wonderful to work with. They even took the time to drop off a thoughtful 80th birthday gift for my dad who we rented the property for! Such a nice touch :)

Great location

Beautiful area, home needs a deep clean on outside and Inside. Cleaning service did not have it cleaned thoroughly when we arrived. Other than that disappointment, we enjoyed our stay and location was perfect.

Great Get-Away Option

We were looking for a sweet getaway spot to take our family to the beach. Loved the location and neighborhood but especially the proximity to the beach. Interior needs some love/upgrades. Fridge broke during our stay so all our groceries went bad. Other appliances are outdated as well and kitchen equipment (pans/pots, utensils, etc.) can get an overhaul for sure. Other than that liked the place a lot.

Weekend stay in Kiawah

This property was ina convenient location and close to Freshfields for shopping and restaurants. The unit was ok. It was clean and had a nice amount of furniture but everything felt a little old. TV, beds (creaked and mattress was not very comfortable), bathrooms - old fixtures, some minor repairs needed. In a pinch not a bad place to stay but compared to Andel Inn or Sanctuary definitely not as comfortable but a good value and space for a small family. Kitchen was very well stocked but didn’t even provide a day or two of coffee/filters to get you thru the first day.

Not the Kiawah experience

The unit is dirty and run down. The pictures do not accurately represent. The furniture is dingy and very dirty. The kitchen is not stocked to prep meals. Outdoor space is unusable. The unit has clearly not had a thorough cleaning or repairs. We experienced an ant infestation with ants pouring into the dishwasher and under sinks. Vacasa took two days and multiple calls to get someone out. Spraying did not remedy the ants. I won’t rent with Vacasa again. This property is not the average Kiawah rental. It is the worst shape I have ever experienced.

Not child friendly and very poorly supplied with expected necessities

We had 4 adults and a 4 yr. old and a 16 month old. There were no safety measures...dishwashing tabs under the sink, no step stool for teeth brushing. In addition, the grill was unusable and there were no light bulbs, toilet tissue, salt and pepper! If you rent a house to a family it should be more child friendly. Air conditioner filters filthy, an exposed wall outlet, washer malfunctioned after one use.

Stay

There was only 1 trash bag, no extra trash bags, towels, or dishwasher detergent. Place is nice overall but property itself is old and there are holes in the walls from damage or someone punching walls, not sure. Everything seems to be falling apart. For example, you open the door from the bedroom that leads into the patio in the back and the screen door fell off. Barely touched it. You don’t want to even move the curtains in case the window curtains fall down. Unclear instructions to pool.

Extraordinarily disappointed.

The property was not what we expected. The pictures of the outside were extremely misleading. We were expecting to have the marsh outside our back door. Instead, we were packed into a neighborhood with houses right on top of each other and no back yard. When we arrived, we found that there were no sheets for the hideaway bed. We called the office and were very rudely told that they would “put in a ticket” but did not know if they could reach anyone. There were no maps of the island in the house and we were told to come to the office to pick one up. We went to the office and were told they did not have any. The next afternoon, we discovered the refrigerator was not working. We called the office and were told that they would “put in a ticket”, but doubted they could get anyone out there on the holiday weekend. They had a new refrigerator due to come in 3 days after we left. They clearly knew the appliance was out and didn’t bother to tell us. They had brought a mini refrigerator out, but we thought it was extra. Half of our food was ruined. Then we had to purchase ice everyday for coolers. We were charged $xxx per night for 4 nights. And an additional $xxx for additional services and service fees. We did not receive additional services or service at all. I want a refund for all service fees and additional services. I also want compensation for the house not having a full sized refrigerator. The management company, Vacasa, did not manage anything.

Not what you'd expect......

We stay in a lot of VRBO properties and rarely give any negative reviews unless it's absolutely warranted and we want to protect others. That said, while this place isn't a dump per say, it certainly lacks a level of quality and care you would expect for the ratings we saw and especially for the Kiawah island area. Light bulbs...gone, no replacements, lamps that didn't even work. There is a window in the master bath that has a printed out sticker on it which reads "do not use part on order" or something to that effect. It's a part you could buy at Home Depot. So, instead of fixing it right away, let's put a printed out sign to deter people from opening the window. That's the kind of place this is quite frankly. The outside is not well kept, cob webs everywhere that could be swept. Rotting wood that needs updating and everything needs paint. If you are simply looking for a place to crash after a day on the beach with the basics, then this place isn't too bad for that effort. It's haggard to say the least and has carpet throughout in lieu of the kitchen area. It's dingy and not a good fit for a beach place. Outdoor seating is as basic and uncomfortable as it gets. We actually left three days early and rented a place through Kiawah Island resort for $50 more per night that was much more in line with our expectations. Lesson learned. I will say the Vacasa team is nice (rental company). I made a mistake on the dates and we showed up a day early. They accommodated us very quickly which was very kind of them. Sorry Vacasa team, but whomever owns this property needs to invest some time and money to bring it up to snuff. The area itself, Inlet Cove is very convenient to the beach and a pool. There is not a reason this place shouldn't be more reflective of the area with some investment and charge a little more rent.

Two weeks in Kiawah

We've never stayed in this part of the island and we've been coming to Kiawah over the past 32 years. It was beautiful and gave us a different view which we loved! We were moved because the place were we originally rented was being worked on. It was a very beautiful area and we certainly enjoyed the Kiawah River and the sun sets as well as the close proximity to the beach and walking all the way to the inlet at low tide! I would say that was my favorite view and we did it many times over the two weeks we stayed here. We also enjoyed the hours of bike riding too! I would recommend some bug spray on your legs and ankles because the flies and mosquitoes are biting but the bug spray helped tremendously! We were amazed at how quiet this area is and how peaceful it was while we were here. We met some neighbors who owned their property across the street from us and found out they were from the same area we are from. The people in the neighborhood were very friendly and it felt like a little slice of home as well! Vacasa was very attentive to any and all questions or concerns that we had leading up to our stay or if we had a questions regarding anything while we stayed here. They were very prompt in returning any texts that I sent. We had everything we needed at this location, however the reason I gave it a four star instead of a five star is because we thought the place was a bit dated with exception to the kitchen area. I did decide to buy my own skillet at the store because every one of the skillets in the kitchen were in very poor condition and in my opinion should be thrown away. With many things we used in the kitchen from utensils to plates to glasses, they were not cleaned well, some were greasy or had old food left on them, so we washed everything we used before hand. We thought the shared bathroom and shower as well as the toilet-shower area in the master bedroom were dated. The window treatments that goes out to the back porch area were awkward and difficult to open and close; we just kept them closed the whole time which left it pretty dark inside the unit. These were not issues we felt we needed to call and complain about while we stayed, these were just our observations. Like I said, we had everything we needed but for the money we spent compared to other places of similar value we have stayed at through the years we thought this place could use some updates and changes. We would highly recommend this area to anyone and if there were some updates to this unit we would gladly stay here again.

Close proximity to beach was a real plus, The refrigerator microwave and master shower head were amazing! Dining chairs were not very sturdy and one has a leg that is about to break off, Key entry to front door was really a challenge! It would be very nice if there was a regular grill for use. The small bubba grill was not safe and should be discarded.. We rented both 70 and 75 Inlet cove. Both could use a remodel of the second bathroom. We had a wonderful family reunion time. has been 10 years since we came to Kiawah. Used to come every year to Inlet cove when kids were little.

Okay for 6 people not 8

The house is nestled in. Nice area of the inlet cove close to the crabbing dock and the beach. The house is nicely decorated. It says it can sleep 8 but the open up sofa’s mattress is old and too flimsy, so we bought an air mattress for the kids. The house needs a deep cleaning as the fans and the top of the fridge as well as the window sills has a thick caked in dust. The sheet in the open up sofa bed had cereal and crackers stuck inside from prior renters. The kitchen lacked silverware and other equipment. The back balcony’s gutters were full of leaves and stuff growing inside. There was one recycling bin outside which was not sufficient. The fridge and appliance were working condition but hardly. Would not stay at this place again.

Great option on Kiawah

We had a great time staying at this property while we visited Kiawah. The house was exactly as it was described. The property managers promptly responded to the minor issues that happened while we stayed (i.e. one of the bathroom lights decided to become a strobe light...LOL). They sent someone to fix it within the hour. We had 7 people staying with 3 under 10, so we were busy. It was an easy walk to the pool with all the kids. The beach was a little further walk, but still doable. We were dragging a wagon full of kid's stuff, chairs, toys, a cooler, etc. The walk to the beach was paved until you hit the sand, so it wasn't difficult at all. The house is far enough away that you will not hear or see the water. We had a deer visit each night which was fun for the kids. It was a great price for the island and we really enjoyed our time there.
