The host was really good about answering our questions before our stay. Check-in process was smooth and the house was very clean. The host even had some outdoor beach toys available, which the kids enjoyed playing with. There was plenty of space in the house. We would definitely consider coming back, maybe even with a larger group, as we did not end up using all the beds this time. The kitchen allowed us to eat some meals at the house instead of going out for every meal. You can't beat the location on the water and even though we vacationed at the end of the season we still went in for a swim and enjoyed jumping off the small floating dock, too. We enjoyed hiking nearby and even made it into Freeport and Portland during our Maine vacation. I would definitely recommend this rental.
First off, the communication with the property owner was excellent! She answered everything in a timely manner and put up with the millions of questions and messages I sent her prior to our arrival. She gave us helpful info on the area (grocery stores, restaurants to go to etc) and even referred us to a very reasonable local boat rental company ( we rented a pontoon boat, tube and kayaks for our stay).
The house: It is located on a corner lot, on the southern end of Crescent lake with access to Panther Pond close by ( either by kayak or small boat). It is a pretty quiet area and the neighbors are very friendly ( the lake is quiet Monday through Friday and is active on the weekends, but not overly crowded by any means). We were up late many nights and had no issues with neighbors. The lake is beautiful and clean and much larger than we thought.
The house itself is huge! There were 7 of us staying there full time ( 3 adults and an 8, 12, 14 and 16 year old) and there were still 7 BEDS LEFT EMPTY. Two queen beds, two king beds, 6 twin beds. There were also two twin mattresses under the beds in the spare room (which is an extra room located upstairs, where 4 twins are, technically a 6th bedroom) which could be used for extra beds and there are two couches in the loft area (which is a massive and open space) that our kids slept on. The kids loved the loft the best. Susan (the owner) had the place well stocked with everything you need! We cooked lobsters and steamers and grilled kabobs and burgers and dogs on the provided grill and had every utensil, pot or pan and plates and glassware we needed. Plenty of seating inside and outside. The two king bedrooms were huge and could easily fit two blowup beds in each one. The loft is big enough to to fit two additional blow up beds. When I say this place is massive, I mean it!
There is a deck on the back patio and a large yard to play cornhole. There is a large private beach area for the kids to play and rafts, a canoe and paddle board are provided as well and a dock for your boat. The nearest large chain grocery store is a 15 min drive.
We had such a great time at this home and will definitely be returning in the future. Thank you for everything Susan!
We stayed here for Memorial Day weekend. The dock and small beach area are perfect for the kids to dig and play in the water and catch some sun. The house has plenty of space and was very cozy. Host was great and always very responsive! We enjoyed staying here alot and would love to come back again. Great location!
Great house on a great lake. So much space for our yearly family trip. We were so lucky to find this house and we will continue to rent for years to come. Perfect lake for kids.
Nice roomy 2 floors lake house with awesome privet beach. Well organized bedrooms and great open leaving room. Extra gathering space on the second floor. Location is dream about. Overall, ideal place for large families and friends. Great place for any seasons.. Highly recommend to visit
No amount of words or pictures could do this place any justice! The private beach area was the main focus point of our whole stay and it was absolutely perfect! The amount of space in the house was definitely overwhelming for just the two of us. There was enough bedrooms and space to house 10-15 people easily and every area in the house was spotless. Also the owners were super quick on answering any questions we had. It was definitely worth every penny and I highly recommend this piece of paradise for anyone who wants a stress free vacation!
Cottage clean, modern and comfortable. In all the years I have come to Maine as a rental, I have never been in a nicer location (southern exposure) with beach dock and float.
