This is a lovely home that is located in the beautiful Silver Hawk neighborhood. It sits on a beautiful lakefront property that is wooded, quiet, and peaceful. It is meticulously clean and has a wonderful floor plan. The owners are very responsive and helpful.
After searching for a lakeside cabin, we selected the Jackman's and booked it almost a year in advance. It was everything that was advertised on VRBO and MORE. The adults had space to spread out and play games, or just settle in and read a book, watch a movie, or sit on the deck and enjoy the scenery. The kids also had space to play their games in the loft above the garage, or in the basement playing ping pong, or outside playing in the water.
The boat dock at the property and the boat launch ramp, just minutes away from the cabin were a big plus. We were able to leave the boat in the water for the week and come and go as we pleased. We loved boating on the lake and surfing, tubing, swimming, etc.
We had a bald eagle and a golden eagle sitting in a tree on the property right at the waters edge. We had several foxes visit us which the children especially loved seeing.
The fire pit was a bit hit in the evenings, there are camp chairs at the home, about 10 of them and we brought several more for the kids. We made smores, told stories and just enjoyed the sunsets and the beautiful scenery.
The home accommodated our family perfectly, with 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms and lots of area to spread out.
All in all this was a great vacation, the owners couldn't have been more accommodating, Brandon responded quickly to every message I sent him and we would definitely book this again.
The cabin was a perfect layout, our biggest complaint in the past has been trying to sleep downstairs, and hearing every footstep upstairs at this cabin, we didn’t hear a thing which created a restful environment for all. The owner responded immediately to any questions and needs we had. We would highly recommend this cabin for your next vacation. For our family it was perfect!
Convenient location to Yellowstone and area attractions
The home is very spacious with an ideal number of bedrooms and bathrooms for an extended family vacation. The bunk room above the garage was a great space for the teens to sleep and hangout late at night without bothering the rest of the family.
The pingpong table was a huge hit. We brought our own pingpong balls (there were a few at the house) and donated a couple extra (new) paddles.
The outdoor fire pit was a great area and plenty of chairs were provided. The reservoir water is cold (normal in that area) but fun for fishing, boating and paddle boarding (we brought/rented our own). The garage is not accessible to renters which was not a big deal to us but I didn't realize that prior.
The home is 45 min from Yellowstone West Entrance. Also within in 15-25 min are the attractions of Upper (a must see) and Lower Mesa Falls, Harriman State Park (horseback riding), Mack's Inn River float (everyone's favorite activity). Grocery stores in the area are near non-existent so be sure to stock up in a larger nearby city. Connivence stores within gas stations are locally available for last minute and forgotten items.
VERY MINOR cons: the grass was never mowed and is way overgrown. I'm assuming it was due to rain that week (but both neighbor's grass was mowed). It was great to have a large propane tank with the grill on the deck - however the grill itself has seen better days and needs to be replaced. (It no longer auto-lights and there is a large hole in the bottom of it). We found ways to work around that using tin foil and manually lighting it.
100% recommend this house. Be sure to take in the local attractions mentioned in addition to Yellowstone.
We loved the home and property. We will be back!
One minor complaint. The lack of access to the garage should be clearly noted. Not a big deal in summer but would be a huge deal in winter.
This was our third time back, we love the time we spend at this cabin and area of the country. The property owner is first class, always accessible and responsive.
Property is ideal for a larger group looking for room and first class accommodations. The dock was great to swim, fish or just sit and watch the sunset. Home is well laid out with bedrooms on multiple floors allowing the grandkids their space and the adults room as well.
We had a group of 14 (6 adults/8 kids) stay for a week. The house is perfect with an outstanding floor plan. There's plenty of room to spread out, but great areas for gathering. The kitchen is well equipped for handling higher volume cooking and the grill has plenty of space as well. You can rent jet skis and pontoon boats nearby and pull them right up to the dock on the property. The neighborhood is very remote so aside from the other houses in the community, there's no one around. For anyone who likes fishing, you can fish right off of the dock or visit the nearby river at the bottom of the dam.
Last, the owners were very responsive to questions we had in advance and take outstanding care of their property. Highly recommend this to larger groups of guests.
We had a great week staying at Redtail Retreat Lodge in Island Park. The inside of the house is beautiful, and the views of the lake and sunsets were fantastic.
Working with Brandon was great from my initial inquiry to the end of the trip. He was always quick to respond and happy to answer my many, many pre-trip questions.
This house has TONS of space. We had a group of 11, including 5 kids from ages 3 to 17, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The upstairs loft area was perfect for the young kids to sleep and play (no bathroom on that level).
The kitchen was well stocked with cooking equipment, and is plenty large to have multiple people in there cooking at once. There are two dining tables and bar space that makes large dinners and family games easy.
We went into Yellowstone NP most days, and it is a good 40 minute drive from the house to get to the West Yellowstone entrance. Totally do-able, just adds some extra driving to your park days. (Tip — check the West Yellowstone entrance webcams to see how backed up traffic is).
The only issue we had with the rental was the air conditioning in the cabin couldn’t be dropped below ~70. There happened to be a heat wave while we were there, so it became hot in the house. Brandon was good to work with on this issue, though. Just opening the windows throughout the house made a big difference.
I would highly recommend staying here. We made some great family memories and will look back fondly on our stay at the lodge.
We came on our first trip to Yellowstone with friends and wanted a nice, large and clean place to come home to. This house exceeded our expectations! Would definitely come back and recommend to others.
