The house was just the kind of accommodation that we were looking for. Jane, the host, was extreamly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely recommend the cottage to friends.
Lovely little cottage next to the woodland. The owners were really welcoming and the cottage was fully equipped and really clean. It was the nicest one we have ever stayed in. This will certainly be our first choice if we come down this way again.
My husband and I had such a lovely stay at Jane's house. It is a lovely cosy house with everything we needed for our stay and very central for visiting the main spots of the Forest of Dean. Jane is a super friend and helpful host and great with communicating. We would definitely stay again.
Cosy cottage in lovely location. A good meeting point between West Wales and the West Country. We loved exploring the Forest of Dean. Also a lovely walk from the cottage. Nice welcome from host Jane.
We were very lucky to make the most of the wonderful weather to explore the area (so many stunning places including Tyntesfield, or Woodchester Park). We had a great stay, very peaceful and private.Thank you!
Comfortable delightful cottage in fantastic location
The most comfortable cottage we have ever stayed at! Log burner is fantastic but very warm heating too so with the comfy lounge furniture it was hard not to relax! Location is perfect for walking with the forest literally 50metres away. Cottage very well equipped. The lovely owner Jane is next door if needed but left us alone to relax throughout the stay.We will be back for Christmas next year hopefully! Thankyou Jane, fabulous break from start to finish!
Great little cosy cottage in a good location. Real log fire in lounge but also has central heating. Stairs are bit on the steep side but then you get that in cottages of this age .
Walks just outside your door ( as well last chickens!)
Everything you need for a nice stay .
Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful stay.
Very enjoyable stay, great location. forest walks within 200 yards, and chickens and grazing sheep outside the front gate. The owners live next door and were very approachable and helpful. Highly recommended for a weeks break.
Lovely peaceful rural property. Very comfortable lots of little touches which we appreciated. Hosts couldn't have been nicer. I was surprised to find it was a downstairs bathroom as i hadnt noted it on the description. I bit tricky for those of us who need to go at night! However it didnt spoil our stay. The dogs loved watching the animals on the common.and easy access to woodland. Will definitely be returning
Super helpful host living just next door and the property is in a lovely location - free range chicken and sheep!! Great base to travel round the area. Really enjoyed our stay
We had a great weekend at Oakdene it’s a quaint , quirky cottage in lovely surroundings . Waking up in the morning looking out over the hills and forest is fab. The cottage has all the basics required, it’s not super modern but it is cosy and comfortable and on the doorstep for all the Forest of Dean has to offer for mountain biking and walking .
Jane and Malcolm are great host and make you really welcome. We loved going out in the morning and seeing the local sheep on the green and the chickens from next door. The only 2 points I would make are if you have trouble with stairs or a downstairs bathroom is an issue then the property may not be for you. Great garden out the back, sun trap in the afternoon.
We had a lovely 3 night break with our 2 x daughters and 2 x dogs. The owners live next door and were really friendly and on hand if we needed anything and even gave us some of their freshly laid eggs
It's a cosy cottage build in 1892. Don't expect a modern look , it's old with a modern touch. We stayed a fortnight here and it was a pretty homecoming base. Jane is a wonderful host and can't do enough for you.
Everything we could of needed, cottage was clean, very down to earth and homely. Jane was an excellent host, she and everyone in the area was so friendly. The walks were lovely and so much to do nearby

We spent Thurs-Mon in Jane and Malcolm’s lovely cottage. The location is incredible and we were blessed with some fantastic weather! The cottage had everything we needed. The sheep and chickens outside are brilliant and our little one had so much fun watching them. Our dog has been on some incredible walks in the woods on the doorstep and at some of the tourist areas nearby.
We’ve had such an amazing stay and can’t that Jane enough for being a wonderful host!

The property was immaculate and well equipped. The host, Jane was extremely friendly and helpful. A quiet peaceful spot with chickens and sheep wondering around on the common land outside the enclosed garden. My only criticism is that the staircase was steep and difficult for me but it didn’t spoil our stay. I shall recommend to friends.
