Gated top and bottom deck to keep small kids from the water, if needed otherwise you can just keep the gate open. Makes it much more relaxing and gives you some peace of mind, if you have small kids since your on the water.

Canal is on the Bay. You can Kayak to the state park, which you can see from the deck. It is located just on the other side of the canal.

Since the canal leads into the Bay you will usually catch Red fish and Speckle Trout at night.

During the Day you'll catch anything that swims by, Flounder, Croaker, Reds, Sand Trout and Drum. We honesty have caught it all. Bait up the crab traps upon your arrival with, fish, chicken, or just about anything and you will most likely wake up to a nice snack, or meal. The stone crab are deliciously sweet. The rule to those are take one claw (which it will release, if you pull just right) and release the crab back to ensure more future stone crab.

If fishing's not your thing then just hang out, swim, listen to music and enjoy the views. Beach is just 5 minutes down the road with a few restaurants near by. We really enjoy 'The West End Marina and restaurant' down the road in Sea isle. There is a casual Sand Bar Grill, where there is always a live band, or some thing going on. Great food and drinks with great water views. Upstairs is more of a fine dining "The West End Restaurant". Jamaica Beach is close to many of Galveston's favorite attractions. Twenty minutes from Schliterbahn, and Pleasure Pier. We have our own police/fire department, grocery store, liquor store, and two churches.

We're shaded all day underneath the covered porch since we face the East and the lot next door is empty, so you'll always get the South and South East breeze during the summer.

Tips for fishing. We fish primarily from the top deck at night and during the day just because it's easier, since you can walk in and out of the house. It will be cooler temperature wise fishing downstairs during a hot summer day. We do have fishing lights for night fishing.

Fishing can be great at night ! The large Red fish love shrimp and the trout love live shrimp and artificial lures. If you get up early before the sun rises you can catch some nice Reds or Trout off the dock. STR23-00023

Just a little get away from Home!!

The house it was real clean, the days that we spend in there! We brought our daughters and boys for this trip, my husband got a lot fun doing fishing while us we weee just enjoying the beautiful view from balcony. The only issue that we had it was that the 2nd night that we stay in the house, (it was a very bad storm) so the next day WiFi it was on and off, and the night before when we decided to do laundry the washer fill with water but never wash our clothes (electric problems and internet problems but it’s normal because that storm) but we really enjoy it and we hope in the future we can book again!

House was nice, great place to fish! AC did not work well. This place was way too hot! Had a week of not sleeping well because of the heat. Sorry, but 80 degrees in a house is too much. Home was listed as a 3/2 but had one complete bathroom and a toilet downstairs in a utility room. Would have never rented this house if we’d known this. Listing was not accurately described by the owner.

Beach experience

The house was nice and we enjoyed our stay. However, we checked out on Sunday instead of Monday because I fell down on the last step before the dock. I would suggest that the owner paint a 4” wide red stripe all the way across it. I feel like I’m fine but went for exrays this morning to be sure. There needs to be a toilet bowl brush in the bathroom. Thank you.

End of summer get- away

This spot was perfectly located on a canal facing the rising sun in the mornings, shaded in the evening. Our dog enjoyed the fenced - in yard & cool floors inside. Our 5 year old grandson helped out on the dock securing the kayaks while Dad & Papa fished. I appreciated how clean everything was & the decorating inside was lovely yet easy to maintain. We gathered around the round table to play games in the heat of the day. Everyone enjoyed the kayaks & the setup for fishing, including rocking chairs for spectators. Only thing that would’ve been better is if the fish were biting! Thanks for the great accommodation!

Beautiful!

The property is beautiful and extremely clean. The views are breathtaking!! My only complaint was the second “bathroom” was only a toilet , no sink, the door doesn’t lock, and there’s no sink. So to me an accurate listing would be 3 bedrooms, one bath.

Great little get away!

When I booked, it was just for my husband and son and 1 dog! It was our first vacay bringing a pet, I was pleasantly surprised how great this place would work out! The whole area is fenced with lots of room to run around! Our great friends had a cancellation of a baseball tournament, so they joined us last minute. The bunk room is where the boys slept and plenty of room for another couple.. so we for 6 comfortably! It has one full bathroom that made it a challenge, but there is a secret bathroom down stairs that remained a secret for 24 hours LOL and I preferred it that way 😂.. we brought fishing kayaks, caught fish, crabs in the traps, and enjoyed the breeze. Spent a day at the beach.. I loved how we never felt the crowds of a holiday weekend! We would love to be back, the joy of having our pets with us without a worry, made it more amazing! Cold Ac which was a huge bonus.. it was SO HOT/humid this weekend!

Amazing fishing

We loved this home. Currently looking to book again. Amazing communication with the owner and property is beautiful, especially the updated interior of the home. Kayaks available to use which was super fun! Pet friendly and completely fenced in. All of the exterior gates make it perfect for young children's safety.

So relaxing!

We enjoyed our stay so much! The property was perfect for what we were looking for!! Fish and crabs were scarce but the view and peacefulness of being on the water more than made up for it. We did catch a few keepers and our youngest hooked a big red and says he is “fish whisperer.” The green light in the water is amazing! It was fun to watch the fish. There was one really large fish that kept lurking around but wouldn’t take the bait. Would definitely stay there again!

Guys weekend

Couldn’t be more pleased with the property and process. Owner was totally accommodating and the house was fantastic. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Plenty of seating inside and outside. Dock made fishing and crabbing so easy we never had to go anywhere else. Downtown is about 20 minutes away which made the location great. Several nice restaurants and markets nearby. Will definitely book this place again.

Fantastic

The process was quick easy and painless. Beautiful house and property. Was clean and would definitely recommend staying at this location. Location for fishing was great but we went on the coldest weekend possible with no fishing rewards but still had a blast. Crab traps were used before we had arrived and we're already in the water loaded with bait. No complaints on my end.

Beautiful views, great location, perfect for our family

Lovely place! Couldn’t ask for better views. Great location, easy drive to the beach. Perfect for our family trip with young kids and adults. The house isn’t fancy but has everything you need - plus we spent every second outside enjoying the weather and water views. FYI - second bathroom is downstairs and really is just a toilet in the laundry room (no sink or lock on the door), worked fine for our family but may not work for everyone.

Great place!

Just as advertised, right in a cul de sac of the canal, super quiet neighborhood, easy to get to. House was immaculate, plenty of supplies for cooking the crab or fish if you wanted to do so. Yard is of decent size, more than enough for our 2 small dogs. Check in was easy, I booked the night before we arrived, within 10 minutes had a message with check in instructions from the owner. There are kayaks, floaties, cornhole boards, small charcoal grill, crab pot, and old ice chests for holding the fish and crabVery nice place, would definetly rent again.

Great bay view

We loved our stay here. The property has a great view (better than the pictures online can show) and was very relaxing. The canal is wide. The kayaks that came with rental were so appreciated. We kayaked multiple times a day. The underwater light was broken by a prior renter but the owner had it repaired during our stay, which we really appreciated. Easy to fish (although nothing large was biting during the heat of August) and out of the sun during the evening. Beds and bedrooms were great. Bring toilet paper. (There is some when you arrive but not extra). Kitchen has plenty of stock pots. There is a coffee grinder and most things you need. The only thing I found myself wishing it had was an extra large bowl. That’s pretty good for a rental! We loved that we could bring our dog. He could run around freely. It’s also ridiculously easy to get the beach. Wonderful stay.

Great place to stay

We had an amazing time at this house. We had a friend tagging along with her kids and before anything I touched base with Ron. He responded immediately and was ok with it. Fishing wasn’t that great during the day but once it got dark we were catching a lot of fish. The kids like the kayaks and used them every day. They also jumped in the water and swam. The dogs like the property as well. They kept running around and enjoying it. The wife and I enjoyed sitting outback in the rocking chairs watching everyone having a good time. There was charcoal and other thing left being from previous people so we figured we would do the same. What wouldnt go bad we left behind so other people could use it as well. Me and my wife were shocked how good the inside of the house looked. We also read previous reviews of the house before renting it for the week and other people mention about the house. Was in a good location. I talked to one of the neighbors and was friendly. We definitely like this one more than the other house we rented for before and would rent again. Thanks Ron for letting us stay at your house.
