Historic La Bella Vista offers truly exceptional ocean views from almost every room. Originally the Marsan’s Blacksmith Shop in the 1800s, this home allows you to experience a piece of history. The custom kitchen offers mesmerizing coastal views. If you don’t feel like cooking, Little River Inn and Wild Fish Restaurants are just a short ½ mile car ride away, as well as the many dining opportunities offered two miles away in the Mendocino Village. View Van Damme State Park beach from the tranquil garden, spa, deck, or patio and enjoy the sounds of the surf while watching the many seabirds and wildlife. Kayak Mendocino offers professionally guided sea cave tours where you can experience the beauty of the ocean while sitting on top of an ocean kayak. Across the street from the beach is Van Damme State Park which includes the Fern Canyon Trail system and offers hiking through acres of lush fern and pygmy forest. Also, direct access to the Spring Ranch Preserve trails with great hiking and biking along the scenic cliff line is close by. Like to golf? The Little River ocean views golf course is nearby. La Bella Vista is the perfect location to make once-in-a-lifetime memories.
~Please note:~ La Bella Vista is located immediately off of Highway 1 in Little River, while this is a slow stretch of single-lane highway, guests that are light sleepers or sensitive to noise may be disrupted by the road noise. Primary queen w/full bath, queen room downstairs w/full bath. Queen sleeper pullout in the living room.

Everything is exactly as pictured -- and the place was spotless! I went up with my dogs for a solo zen trip, but the house would be perfect for a large group as there is plenty of seating, tabletop space, etc. Kitchen is huge and incredibly well-stocked. I didn't find road noise to be a problem, but it was February and traffic was light. The garden is beautiful -- the little paths could use a wee bit of work but that's a minor quibble. Overall, a wonderful stay and I'll definitely be back!

Awesome location and home!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at La Bella Vista before and this time we brought our friends. We hope to make it an annual trip. This home is well appointed, located within walking distance to a great coastal hike and to the beach, and has an awesome kitchen. We never eat out when staying here! The only bummer this time was that the spa jets didn't work and it was a weekend and so it couldn't get fixed during our stay. But we love staying with Mendocino Preferred and at this location. It's perfect for our dog and we love garden, which was in full bloom!

Guests stayed on convertible couch, back room was too close to the highway and no view. They were comfortable on the couch. I used a sleeping bag on the upstairs bed but it really wasn’t necessary because the house was immaculate. I was glad I bought my own soft pillow.

Perfect Birthday Celebration

During their childhoods, we owned a home on the coast and have many memories of our time there together. Staying at La Bella Vista was a perfect way for us to feel connected and relive special memories in a comfortable setting with lovely views and easy access to the beaches, restaurants and activities on our to-do list. The hot tub was a welcome addition on a chilly day and the gas fireplace provided a lovely ambiance on a chilly evening. Before we built our home in the early 2000s, we rented through Mendocino Preferred on numerous occasions and I was quite pleased to see the quality and service is still excellent - so much better than Airbnb or VRBO due to the consistency of service, cleanliness and quality!

The attention to design detail inside and out is amazing, right down to the fixtures. This is owner-pride at its best. The two large living spaces are very welcoming and the view through the large windows is super. The botanical garden outside is really well-manicured and has a nice zen feeling to it. Our experience with Mendocino Preferred was also outstanding, what a lovely bunch of professionals. We're very picky- we loved it so much, we extended our stay.

Absolutely perfect!!!

My partner, mother and I had the most phenomenal stay at this gem of a house!! The location is amazing - just a 5 minute drive from downtown Mendocino and steps from the beach! The house is so cozy and spacious. We loved sitting on the deck and in the living room drinking coffee, both areas providing an idyllic view of the ocean. What a fantastic house for a group vacation! We hope to be back!!!

The View even in the rain!!!

The management company is very reliable and commuciates well with the renters. We had a power outage due to the heavy rains and downed trees during this historic weather event in CA. When the power came back we had no water. They sent someone immediately and our water was restored. We highly recommend this property and the management company.

It has so much common space that it seemed really big for our family of 4. It was easy to warm with the gas fireplace and wall heater, and everything worked (TV, bluetooth speaker, etc). The hot tub was lovely after a chilly outing at the beach. It's very dog-friendly with a fenced yard, plenty of room to romp, and cute touches like dog bowls and towels. The primary bedroom upstairs is a retreat. We'd love to come back in the summer!

Mendocino Coast Magic

This property was much larger than I anticipated from the pictures. Large kitchen and dining room, family room with a view and cozy living room. There's a nice sound system in the kitchen to stream music which made it so pleasant inside to listen to music and relax in the sitting room while drinking morning coffee or afternoon wine looking at the ocean view. Games and puzzles galore are in the cabinets and we enjoyed sitting relaxing reading and doing puzzles when we were not out hiking or exploring. The primary living room had the TV and nice comfy couch and pot belly stove for anyone wanting to watch TV. The view from the upstairs master bedroom is amazing and we found two window screens to put in the windows and we could hear the ocean at night once the cars on the 101 died down. The kitchen was huge and we were able to cook dinner the nights we didn't feel like going out. Had the cooking items we needed, but had to go out and get basics like oil. If you are coffee drinkers note they only provide 3 standard coffee filters for the coffee maker, so either pack extra or plan on buying a package of the basket filters when you buy coffee for your stay.
