Historic La Bella Vista offers truly exceptional ocean views from almost every room. Originally the Marsan’s Blacksmith Shop in the 1800s, this home allows you to experience a piece of history. The custom kitchen offers mesmerizing coastal views. If you don’t feel like cooking, Little River Inn and Wild Fish Restaurants are just a short ½ mile car ride away, as well as the many dining opportunities offered two miles away in the Mendocino Village. View Van Damme State Park beach from the tranquil garden, spa, deck, or patio and enjoy the sounds of the surf while watching the many seabirds and wildlife. Kayak Mendocino offers professionally guided sea cave tours where you can experience the beauty of the ocean while sitting on top of an ocean kayak. Across the street from the beach is Van Damme State Park which includes the Fern Canyon Trail system and offers hiking through acres of lush fern and pygmy forest. Also, direct access to the Spring Ranch Preserve trails with great hiking and biking along the scenic cliff line is close by. Like to golf? The Little River ocean views golf course is nearby. La Bella Vista is the perfect location to make once-in-a-lifetime memories.
~Please note:~ La Bella Vista is located immediately off of Highway 1 in Little River, while this is a slow stretch of single-lane highway, guests that are light sleepers or sensitive to noise may be disrupted by the road noise. Primary queen w/full bath, queen room downstairs w/full bath. Queen sleeper pullout in the living room.

Although La Bella Vista is pet friendly, please note that it is limited to dogs only with a maximum number of no more than 2.

We miss this house!

We travel frequently as a family. My kids (ages 7, 9, 12) loved this house and northern California. Thehy are still talking about damming up the "river" at Van Damme beach. The house is spacious, the hot tub was amazing after a day of exploring, the gardens were relaxing to stroll through and a gorgeous source of blooming color to enjoy. This is in a great location for exploring the area and offers beautiful views. If my kids have anything to do with it, we will be back soon - and will def stay at this welcoming home.

Absolutely perfect!!!

My partner, mother and I had the most phenomenal stay at this gem of a house!! The location is amazing - just a 5 minute drive from downtown Mendocino and steps from the beach! The house is so cozy and spacious. We loved sitting on the deck and in the living room drinking coffee, both areas providing an idyllic view of the ocean. What a fantastic house for a group vacation! We hope to be back!!!

Beautiful Ocean View!

This is a wonderful property--walking distance to the beach, and to the ocean cliffs, and just sitting on the deck enjoying the garden and amazing view of Whale Rock is awesome. We thoroughly enjoyed the giant kitchen (even though there were only 2 of us!) and multiple comfy places to read and play cards. And, now we are buying our own sound machine, because we loved having one. The Hwy 1 noise is NOT an issue. Everything was perfect, and it is a great, safe doggy location as well.

The attention to design detail inside and out is amazing, right down to the fixtures. This is owner-pride at its best. The two large living spaces are very welcoming and the view through the large windows is super. The botanical garden outside is really well-manicured and has a nice zen feeling to it. Our experience with Mendocino Preferred was also outstanding, what a lovely bunch of professionals. We're very picky- we loved it so much, we extended our stay.

The management company is very reliable and commuciates well with the renters. We had a power outage due to the heavy rains and downed trees during this historic weather event in CA. When the power came back we had no water. They sent someone immediately and our water was restored. We highly recommend this property and the management company.

This home is well appointed, located within walking distance to a great coastal hike and to the beach, and has an awesome kitchen. We never eat out when staying here! The only bummer this time was that the spa jets didn't work and it was a weekend and so it couldn't get fixed during our stay. But we love staying with Mendocino Preferred and at this location. It's perfect for our dog and we love garden, which was in full bloom!

During their childhoods, we owned a home on the coast and have many memories of our time there together. Staying at La Bella Vista was a perfect way for us to feel connected and relive special memories in a comfortable setting with lovely views and easy access to the beaches, restaurants and activities on our to-do list. The hot tub was a welcome addition on a chilly day and the gas fireplace provided a lovely ambiance on a chilly evening. Before we built our home in the early 2000s, we rented through Mendocino Preferred on numerous occasions and I was quite pleased to see the quality and service is still excellent - so much better than Airbnb or VRBO due to the consistency of service, cleanliness and quality!

Everything is exactly as pictured -- and the place was spotless! I went up with my dogs for a solo zen trip, but the house would be perfect for a large group as there is plenty of seating, tabletop space, etc. Kitchen is huge and incredibly well-stocked. I didn't find road noise to be a problem, but it was February and traffic was light. The garden is beautiful -- the little paths could use a wee bit of work but that's a minor quibble. Overall, a wonderful stay and I'll definitely be back!
