Large Spanish Cortijo in Andalucia with private pool, paddle lit

Cortijo Montero (A typical Andalusian country house), in the heart of Andalusia is an ideal place to spend time with family and friends.

The Cortijo was originally built in the 18th century. It was restored in 1990, and divided into three independent houses. The Cortijo received awards for its unique traditional style by the local Malaga council.

There are several sports facilities: swimming pool, paddle, table tennis and football pitch. The three houses have beautiful gardens with eucalyptus, pine trees & cypresses.

The Cortijo is in the perfect location: 8km from the nearest town (Campillos), which means clean air, peace & quiet and intimacy. Campillos is an active commercial town with all basic services (supermarkets, health centre, restaurants, workshops).

There is easy access to major tourist cities in Andalusia (Granada, Seville, Cordoba and Malaga-Costa del Sol). The closest airport is in Malaga (72km). The AVE (Spanish High speed train) station is 20 km away.

The three houses of the Cortijo are the Manor House, the Arabian House and the Small Shepherd’s House.

The Manor House is the noble part of the Cortijo and consists of a porch, two floors and a beautiful courtyard. Ground floor: Entrance and toilet. Large kitchen-dining room, both with fireplaces. First floor: 6 bedrooms (2 of 3 beds, 4 of 2). Outdoor courtyard "Aprisco", partially covered, tables and chair for 29 people, barbacue. The rest outdoors is covered in Spring and Summer with vines.

Arabian House consists porch. Large living room with fireplace and beautiful old arches with 17th Century columns. Kitchen, 3 bedrooms.

The Small Shepherd’s House: Living room with fireplace and kitchen. 3 bedrooms with three bathrooms.

Group Activities & Facilities On-Site or Locally. Padel Court, Walking, Climbing, Canoeing, , Horse Riding, Karting, Mountain Biking, Surfing, Swimming, Windsurfing, Paragliding..

The cortijo is a peaceful place. We do not guest noisy parties. Outdoor music is forbidden. Silence is requested after 24.00.

Wunderbare Tage im idyllischen Cortijo

Wir haben im Cortijo unsere Hochzeit im kleinen Kreis gefeiert und es war einfach traumhaft. Die Häuser sind sehr gemütlich und wunderbar für größere Gruppen. Ein toller Ort zum Entspannen, die Sterne zu beobachten oder Ausflüge zu machen. Wir würden mit einer unvergleichlichen Herzlichkeit Willkommen geheißen und die gesamte Organisation rund um die Hausmietung war perfekt!!!

For vores familie var det en fantastisk bolig, som alle nød. Det var dejligt at der var badeværelse til alle værelser. Det varme vand fungerede ikke optimalt i hoved huset, men det er sikkert rettet nu. Vi var 24 personer og på intet tidspunkt følte vi der var for lidt plads. Der var stuer vi slet ikke brugte. Køkkenet kunne trænge til en gennemgang for udstyr blandt andet ovnen . Helheds indtrykket er en fantastisk bolig til storfamilien.

A unique and lovely place to stay

There were 21 of us, all adults. Each couple had there own clean room and bathroom. The public areas of the Cortijo are spacious, comfortable and uniquely decorated with various agricultural equipment. The kitchen and dinning areas had all we needed to cook and eat our meals together. The pool, although small, is pleasant and refreshing after a day's trip. Above all, Blanca is a very pleasant obliging hostess. We had a wonderful holiday and loved the Cortijo.

Great historic house for a group holiday

Our group of seven families came here in early April for our 25th anniversary year of going away together. The house was terrific for our busy, active group, with excellent facilities on site and good bird watching nearby. We had some great long-distance bike rides from the house and really enjoyed playing paddle-ball on the outdoor court and table-tennis. The swimming pool was very much enjoyed - even in April! The owners are no longer maintaining the tennis court surface, but it was good enough for us to play on. Inside the house is lovely, and we had great dinners at the long dining table, with a blazing fire at the end of the room. Some evenings we ate outside in one of the sunny, sheltered courtyards. Blanca was a terrific host, very helpful suggestions and sorted any problems we had straight away.

Fabulous time in the tranquil Cortijo

The Cortijo was a perfect setting for a large family reunion holiday with people travelling from the UK, US and Australia to convene for 2 weeks of relaxation. The location is quiet which suited us well, the nearest town of Campillos providing all our basic needs. The house and grounds have everything you need, catering brilliantly for a group of 23 with a choice large gathering and dining spaces, so catering and eating together was very easy (it would be nice to have had a dishwasher though) A trip to El Chorro and the lake is a must and for wider trips out is it perfectly located for Cordoba, Seville, Granada and Alhambra all of which are more or less equidistant. We had a wonderful time and would recommend the property highly, Blanca (the owner) was extremely helpful both in advance of the trip and whilst we were there.

fantastic property for a party of 31!

We were 7 families celebrating some 50 year old Dad's birthdays. The property was great for a big group. Enough beds and bathrooms for everyone and lots of places to socialise in small groups or one big group. Blanca was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble - great recommendations for places to visit and restaurants that would cater for us all. Blanca also arranged for a local cook to come and cater for us all for 3 nights which was lovely. The children - ranging from 6 to 16 - also enjoyed the house. Happy to recommend it but beware very hot in Andalucia in August!

Truly fascinating historic home.

A truly fascinating historic family manor house on a working 600 acre farm. Don't let a few imperfections put you off. For Americans, the imperfections included difficulty finding the property by car as roads that seem to intersect on the map don't; no air-conditioning in hot/dry Andalucia takes some getting used to, but you DO get used to it; the tennis court is really not playable as the surface is impossibly unsmooth, a real disappointment for the several serious players who came with us; and there were hundreds of wasps, admittedly unagressive and uninterested in the renters, but quite disquieting nevertheless. Still, for the right group with some patience for the drawbacks, this is a fantastic place not to be missed. If you were staying somewhere else, this marvelous "Cortijo" would have to be on your list if things to visit. And nearby Campillos is a great little town with all the resources you need. Owner's representative (and family member), "Blanca", is very helpful and has English much better than your correspondent's limited Spanish. I would come again if the opportunity arises.

Excellent accommodation and setting

Accurate listing regarding location, layout and facilities - was clean and well-maintained. The owner was very friendly and even agreed to buy some extra pieces of kitchen equipment we required. I would certainly recommend the cortijo to a friend or relative. In fact, we were so pleased with our stay that we'll be returning again next year! :)
