About this property

Blue Room- Farmstay Bed and Breakfast La Crosse/Onalaska

Welcome to Rainbow Ridge Farms Bed and Breakfast. We are a licensed, inspected, and have been welcoming visitors from all over the world since 1996. Our working farm has a herd of dairy goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, cats and dogs. You are welcome to help with milking the goats and collecting the eggs. In the spring and summer, we have lots of baby goats to snuggle with. Most of the animals are outside, however, we have an indoor dog that we rescued in 2017. He's a Maltese and loves to greet you.

One thing you really should make time for is the infamous hike to the Monkey Tree. You will have a herd of 50 goats join you on your hike and climb in the tree while you enjoy the fantastic views. There's two decks for relaxing and a fire pit surrounded by the flower garden.

We have 4 bedrooms available in our B&B. All rooms have a private bathroom. Breakfast is included in the rate. We also have a small community refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee machine for your use.

Love the baby goats!

We stayed one night. Apart from a small mishap with the VRBO listing not linking to the hosts’ schedule, which resulted in us having a different room, our stay was perfect. Gracious, responsive, and friendly hosts, adorable baby goats, peaceful country setting, great recommendations re: where to eat and places to hike, delicious breakfast, friendly fellow guests, and comfy bed. No cell reception but that was not a concern for us as we were looking to unplug.

Kidding season!

We arrived during kidding season, completely by accident, and immediately got to snuggle baby goats, and watch a momma goat give birth about an hour later! 3 mommas gave birth overnight, and there were babies in the kitchen when we got up. We played with dogs, chased chickens, watched the goats get milked, laughed while baby goats suckled our fingers, and hiked up to the monkey tree, surrounded by so many goats that truly enjoyed being with us. There was also a Llama, several sheep, and two donkeys! Despite the very busy goat birthing, Cindy and Donna were patient, relaxed, gracious, and happy to answer our many questions. Our room was cute and clean, and the bed, mattress, and sheets were very nice and cushy. I'm honestly planning another trip already!

Goat Lovers Paradise

My daughter and I had the absolute best time here. The property is beautiful, the hosts are extremely welcoming and provided educational information about the animals and farm practices, the room was much larger than I expected and had a private bathroom, and the breakfast was delicious. With so few rooms and private accommodations it's also a perfect place to stay during the pandemic. But the animals are the absolute star of the show here. Taking the hike up to the monkey tree and having 50 goats accompany you was one of the best things I've ever experienced. The goats are clearly well-loved. They wanted to cuddle, love being pet, and we felt like we were part of the herd. My daughter really enjoyed helping milk the goats and feed the calves and pigs in the morning. This is a trip she'll never forget.

Loved this place!

An all-around wonderful place to stay. A busy working farm in a beautiful setting just outside of town. Lots of farm animals and friendly little cats and large goat-herding dogs. We really enjoyed watching and learning about the goat milking process. The hosts were great, breakfast was delicious, and the home-baked cookies upon arrival were a wonderful welcome. Bed was comfortable and all the rooms have a private bath. We would definitely stay here again.

Happy animals

The goat walk to the monkey tree was all that and more. What a great place! Many happy and friendly animals, and Cindy and Don were accommodating and fun. Great place for kids of all ages, pun intended. We hope to return.

Fantastic!

My children (12 and 8 yo) and I reserved a room for one night and then decided to stay another, cause we were enjoying our visit so much and didn't want to leave yet! We were there during kidding season, and it was highly enjoyable. Donna and Cindy are excellent hosts, and they made us feel welcomed. They chatted with us as much as we liked, and they were both so willing to teach us about the goats and other animals. The highlights for us were hanging out with all of the kids, who are so playful and affectionate; walking with the mature goats, donkeys, and llama up through the field to the "monkey tree," where they would climb around; petting the beautiful (if a bit dirty), endearing, and super sweet dogs (especially Hank!!!, says my son); and breakfast! We brought home some (goat milk) soap and lotion that Cindy makes, and have been enjoying those products as well. We can't wait to visit again!
