Lovely

We stayed two weeks in a beautiful and historic house in Slivia . We were welcomed by the owners wife and daughter. They were very friendly and helpful. The house is equipped with tasteful furniture, everything one needs and the refrigerator was full with a variety of drinks. There even was a selection of food. With the house comes a nice secluded garden where it is good to rest after a busy day. And when the temperature gets too hot, the airco inside will cool you down. The small village of Slivia has beautiful surroundings. There are several trails to walk with fantastic views over the countryside and the blue Adriatic. Its 5 minutes to the beach in Sistiana, or a 45 minutes’ walk if you do not want to cruise around for a parking spot. A tip: buy the FVG-card at the tourist office in Sistiana. We took the seven-day version. You can visit several museums and other attractions all over Friuli (Trieste, Udine, Gorizia and many more places). For six Euros more you can travel for free on the local busses. During our stay the owners kept in contact, so as to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Thank you Larry and Silvia.

Lovely beautiful homy house with garden

We loved our stay in this beautiful homy house, historical yet carefully renovated. Situated in a idyllic village near the spectacular coast between Duino and Trieste. We enjoyed the secluded garden. You must have a car. Owner Larry is a perfect host, friendly, easy and fast to get answers and supoort if needed.

We have always searched for the perfect home in Italy in a region we dearly love. It took 7 years to find this place, and find it is a place the family can enjoy and experience a home life away from the busy city life in California. As travelers, we also know that experiencing local life outside of the Hotel experience is a key part to understanding the place you are visiting, so it's our opportunity to share the experience with others that are looking for a few days of 'living like the locals'.

Why they chose this property

Nestled in the small village of Slivia, the location provides central access to beaches, nightlife, and the bustling city of Trieste. From here it's easy to get to Slovenia, Croatia as well as north to the Alps and Austria. For those looking for day trips, Venice is 90 minutes by train with fast trains to Milan and other northern cities.

What makes this property unique

Unlike a newer house, this Villa is over 200 years old but fully restored for comfort, while keeping the original charm. For those wishing to emerse themselves in Italian living, and relax at night with a glass of wine, or local grappa while enjoying the friendly nature of this village of 130 people. Just 20 meters behind the house in the village is a 4 star local restaurant, with Osmisa's being open during certain periods of the year.
