This house is set up very well for your family. In an area that is great for your pet. Porch is spacious and has gates at both stairs.

Property needs a lot of work
When we got there A/C was not working properly. Repair person was sent out and said the unit was shot. Not a current problem because each bedroom already had portable window units. Took 5 days to get additional window unit which still barely kept the house at 74 degrees. Furniture was not clean. Ceilings had mold around A/C vents. Would never stay in house again
The location is perfect. Tucked right behind a dune, you feel like you’re all alone at the beach. You can’t see the crowds or hear the people, but the ocean is right there. My only thing is it would be nice if they would clean the windows that face the ocean. They were caked with sand and a thick film. You could tell it had been a VERY long time since they had been washed. I cleaned them when I got there so we had a beautiful view from inside the home. Otherwise the house was perfectly clean.
We know the area, so location and beach access are perfect. Electronic lock made trouble-free check in. First time in this house. It needs minor updates and cleanliness was an issue: silverware and utensils were dirty, put away with dried food. Washed everything using dishwasher sanitizer setting. Pot holders and gloves are falling apart and unusable. Tub has a ring stain. Storm door is old, difficult, and dangerous during the ice storm. Heat pump circuit board fried, so no heat during ice storm and cold weekend. OIA was responsive with electric space heaters. There were no coffee filters. Should be at least a couple in the starter kit. These aren't complaints; just facts. We had a great weekend and would stay here again.

Over-priced
This property is not worth the price compared to other houses we have rented, including another on Oak Island. 1 - a smoke alarm was chirping due to low battery. 2 - we could not figure out how to turn on the shower in the master bath. it had a mechanism we had never seen before, and there were no instructions for the house other than how to check out. 3 - the TV was a disaster. First, it was dependent on internet service and the internet router needed restarting. Then, you had to figure out how to get TV service as the TV appears like a phone or tablet with apps, all of hich required signons. No instructions. 3 - all of the windows had a salt film on them that should have been cleaned off. We paid a premium for oceanfront but had a hard time enjoying it. The excuse that the salt spray covers everything doesn't wash - this is the sixth year we've rented a house directly on the beach on Ocean Dr at OKI and the first time we've had this problem. Everyone else cleaned the windows. 4 - Every piece of furniture had a fine layer of sand on it. Bottom line, there are plenty of other places here on the beach for rent. We wouldn't stay here again.
