This property was amazing! House was great, location great and the views were so beautiful! The path down to the beach was really nice also! Thank you for sharing your home with us!!!
Great private residence right on a really clean beach! You can walk for miles! If you like the roar of ocean waves this is the place. The only issue for me was the mattress was a bit firm. Host was responsive. Really enjoyed our stay!!
Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful place to stay. We felt like we were home. My parents are elderly and live 3 hours away. They hadn’t been to the coast in many years. My aim was to find the best on the best beach and spoil them. Thank you… you made our trip to the beach a comfortable trip to your home. My father said out loud, “I could stay here for the rest of my life”. He’s an old farmer who doesn’t say much so my heart was full of appreciation.
If you ever want to sell this wonderful home on the ocean please let me know. I would throw the piggy bank to the floor to make the purchase happen.
Thank you again, so much for a wonderful stay.

This was a wonderful place to sit outside and enjoy the ocean just a few feet away or sit in the dining area and look out the beautifully positioned windows. We really enjoyed the layout of the house. The only problem was that it was difficult to match some light switches to their light fixtures and two outlets in the bedroom near the garage didn't work. Minor problems. All in all, we had a wonderful week..
My wife and I stayed 4 nights at this large, well stocked,
immaculately clean, magnificent ocean view house. We would wake up to views of the beach to the north and south in a very quiet area. We would hike for miles along the beach in both directions, which we would have to ourselves, or with very few other people.
The house is perfectly situated for scenic driving trips both up and down the coast. It is located just 7 miles south of Brookings, Oregon, with good restaurants and a large Fred Meyers market. Minutes from the house, just north of Brookings is the most scenic part of the Oregon coast along the Samuel Boardman scenic corridor. A bit further north of the house are the amazing jetboats along the Rogue River out of Gold Beach. Just south of the house is access to Redwood National Park, and State Parks including Jedediah Smith, Prairie Creek and Del Norte Coast Redwoods. The house is close to Crescent City with good restaurants and a Walmart. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and just want folks to enjoy their home in Smith River. Highest Marks.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Paradise, but...
First, the good: The views are stunning. The beach is almost empty for a half-mile in either direction, is easy to access and is just beautiful, with long sandy stretches leading to rocky peninsulas and tide-pools with starfish, crabs and anemone. The place was certainly clean and the maid and grounds crew did a fine job. It was great to watch the sunset from the deck and then see, and feelx, the marine layer roll in. If you are lucky enough to get a starry night, cuddle up with your S/O and go down to the sand - it is astonishing, especially if you come from a big city with light pollution.
The bad: this is a Vacasa managed house, and I guess that's why it just doesn't have the typical VRBO feel. The inside felt like living in a Holiday Inn - all the decorations had that weird inoffensive blandness of a hotel, the drawers were utterly clean and empty; there's no evidence real people have ever lived here. This sterility had negative effects - for instance the BBQ grill was there, but there were no BBQ tongs or BBQ tools to be found, so how do you cook out? There is a nice cable TV, but the cabinets were bare of the usual DVDs that are fun to pick from. A nice coffee maker was there, but there was no sugar to be found. And so on.
Vacasa has an early check-out - 10 am vs. the traditional VRBO 11 am - probably so that they can charge you more for a late check-out - and they did offer that. We checked out and left at 9:58 am and the cleaning staff was at literally the gate waiting - I suspect we would have been charged if we had left a few minutes later.
Oh, and your email will be suddenly spammed by Marriott, with whom Vacasa has a relationship.
If you don't mind the Vacasa-ness I describe, the place really is superb and would make a great hangout for a few days or a
week. Four stars.

cute house in Smith River
This house is definitely suited to the gathering of family and friends. Lovely kitchen with sea views. Easy walk to the beach.
House was beautiful. Well equipped for a short stay. The view and access to the ocean was awesome. Would have loved to stay longer. Only wish they would have had take out menus for nearby restaurants. Overall would stay there again.
My wife and I are retired and we took my 85 year old mother in law to this house for 5 days. We have rented approx 20 VRBO rentals over the years. This one is probably the best stock house we have been in. My wife and I both love to cook and we had everything we needed and then some. They even had two different coffee makers (basket type and kurig) The house is very comfortable and the view is second to none. You're 300 yards off of hwy 101 but you never hear it. The walk to the beach is a little steep but the walkway is gravel and stable, and there is a short block wall to the side for holding onto if needed. Grandma was up and down the trail at least once every day to walk the beach. I used it several times a day to go surf fishing. Caught a couple dozen surf perch while there. They love raw peeled shrimp tails by the way :). The furniture is dated a bit but very comfortable. There is one chair in the dining area that probably needs to be replaced but it became grandma's favorite. She said it was just getting broken in. Overall a wonderful stay with a fantastic view. We would not hesitate a second to book again. Bring your binoculars

Beach House review
Nice quiet cabin.
Clean.
Great access to beach.
Would rent again.
Very spacious, modern house with lots of amenities, fantastic views and easy access to the beach. We enjoyed the property. immensely. Only criticism is that the cleaning crew had missed some details prior to our arrival: coffee pot had used filter in it, dirty pizza pans in the oven, shelves on fridge hadn't been wiped, some hairs in one of the bathrooms. Other than that the house was spotless and very comfortable.
We loved this place. The ocean front was amazing and the house was perfect for us to spread out, yet be together when needed. Views and ocean sounds are amazing.. We loved the cool weather, but still went in the ocean. The kitchen (with views) was a joy. We would rent this again. Did have to go to Brookings for groceries, but loved the Marina there! Lots to do in this area. Good Time! Thank You
Everything was perfect! Very clean place inside and out. Very nice short hike to the beach but a little steep. I would definitely rent this home again.
This location was great. Rain dampened our plans, but this location gave us a great place to hang out and play games and relax.

Beautiful Place
The place was amazing and accomdating for our family. The beach access was amazing and the views breath taking. The only down side was there was no gas for bbqing so we went and bought some. Other than that, we look forward to booking in the future!
Spacious and clean. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful views. There were some details that could have been better, such as torn couch, but overall this was a wonderful property for the four adults in our party.

Perfect backyard!
I loved our stay at the beach house. My only big complaint is the sliding glass door blinds in one of the rooms are missing pieces which resulted in my 6 year old son and I waking up by 530AM every morning.
I could’ve lived in that backyard, so gorgeous and peaceful. We saw lizards and a rabbit in the backyard too!
WE ENJOYED OUR STAY, AGAIN. 2nd stay within a year. And would do another!!
One detractor was the transition from the property trail to beach. At the point where we were at the end of the trail and onto the beach, there was a 2-3 foot jump-off between the trail and beach. At 80 yrs of age it was difficult to navigate.
All of us were 70 yrs old and 2 of us use walkers. Only 1 of 3 bathrooms was handicap accessible…1 bathroom does not accommodate 4 wheel walker, the other has about 16 inch step up from bathroom floor to shower floor.
