Inability to access upon arrival/no way to connect with host

Booked 1.5 month prior to a work obligation assisting at a retreat. Unable to rate the actual property but had to enter a rating so chose 1 due to inability to access the key. Had to book other lodging as host was not returning any communications. Once VRBo customer service was engaged, a 3 way call connected him. He was unable to assist and couldn’t confirm a refund would be made on the call. He was far away, his wife in CA with no way to amend the situation. The next day got refund with excuse they double booked it through another app. The most horrible experience! VRBO couldn’t assist as owners are paid directly so no immediate recourse support from the app.

The perfect weekend getaway

We had such a great time at this property. Close to Northampton where we spent one day, but we had such a great time hanging out at the house- enjoyed the lake and views as well. The place was clean and cozy. We cooked most of our meals in the kitchen and enjoyed family meals together. Our hosts were very responsive and overall we just had a great time.

Family Weekend

Lovely home with a great view. The house is spotless and comes with everything you would need for cleaning or to enjoy a fire. We rented this house to attend family weekend at UMASS for our kids. It’s about 25 min from the school and provides a nice spot to relax after enjoying the football or hockey games.

Wonderful friends vacation week!

We had a terrific week away with lifelong friends! The lakehouse was perfect to reconnect and have great meals together after spending time out on the lake in the kayaks and the canoe! We watched movies, played scrabble and had a fire at night out at the lake. It was such a great place to relax. The home is perfect! We took a ride into North Hampton and Amherst too! Thank you for sharing your home with us! The four of us loved it! And the Master facing the lake was just so beautiful in the morning, us early risers would have out coffee there in the morning on the nice cozy chairs! Perfect!

great place for a vacation with family

The lake house is lovely....minimal but perfect for a vacation house. It has everything that one needs to have a fantastic week or two at a beautiful lake in Mass. The location is great if you do not have to leave very often. There is a wonderful little coop supermarket that has good things very close. The house is very well equipped and we did not even know that there were canoes and kayaks. I would definitely go back for a longer stay.

Lovely Lakehouse

Had a curling tournament in Petersham. Four of us stayed very comfortably in this beautiful home. We met friendly neighbors.. Loved the lake view. Only downside is there is NO cell phone service in the immediate area and poor service in surrounding community.

Easy retreat

This tidy home was much more spacious than expected. The bald eagle over the lake was postcard perfect and the stocked fridge was much appreciated. A gorgeous fall kayak paddle was the icing on the cake.

Western MA Vacation

The house is very nice. The location is great. My family enjoyed kayaking and fishing every morning before heading off to all the sites and friends around Western MA we wanted to see. No cell service by the lake (which we knew) but they have very good internet so we were able to reach everybody we needed to and my husband could keep up with his work. We had a wonderful time there. Very relaxing.

Great spot.

The house was clean and comfortable - and the beds were especially comfortable - a major plus! We spent many hours out on the screen porch which looked out at the lake and our kids really enjoyed the floating dock. It was a great lake for swimming - although there were many powerboats. However, we stayed over the 4th of July so it was probably an especially busy week. The perk of being there over the 4th, however, was that many of the folks on the lake set off fireworks. The entire display was at least two hours long! Amazing. I was surprised by how quiet it got once that was over, too. We were anticipating some noisy celebrations that night but everything quieted down shortly after the fireworks were done. We also got a lot of use out of the 3 kayaks and canoe. The house is close (30 to 45ish min) to Amherst and Northampton. We also made a trip to Shelburne Falls - loads to do and see in this area. The owners were helpful and responsive whenever we had a question. Overall, this was a great spot.

Beautiful Home!

We were in the Amherst area for spring break/college visits and loved this house and it’s location. It was much more spacious than we expected based on the photos. Our family of 5 had more than enough room and my boys loved kayaking on the lake.

Grateful for this home away!

Eve and Bob were so generous and accommodating -- we had a last minute home crisis and have ended up spending nearly 2 weeks at the lakehouse. The views of the lake have been such a pleasure -- with much ice fishing activity to watch. The neighborhood is quiet; the house is clean, bright, sunny, well equipped and well kept. It's been a most pleasant stay!

Great time!

This was our second stay here! Like before, we had a wonderful time! The house was very clean upon arrival! The lakeview was so pretty, even with snow on it. We had a great time, this is definitely one of the best houses we have stayed in! There’s always something to do here!

Perfect Hideaway!

The Lakehouse on Lake Wyola is a one of a kind place where you can switch off and truly unwind. It was an unforgettable escape from the hustle and bustle of NYC. From the moment I walked through the front door I knew I knew this property was a gem. The Lakehouse was in impeccable condition with everything needed for a delicious breakfast available to us upon arrival. The views of the lake and the wooded area surrounding the lake were stunning and easily view-able from every room in the Lakehouse. I am looking forward to many more getaways at the Lakehouse on Lake Wyola.

Great place!

This lakehouse was perfect. Spacious, clean, easy to find and just lovely. We had a great time. The fire pit was awesome! The views were pretty too. The beds were comfortable and we enjoyed the cable and WiFi! We had a wonderful time and would definitely be going back!

Beautiful location, lots of space, well thought out floor plan, gorgeous views of the lake

Hosts also included kids' games and toys for little ones, as well as lake kayaks and fire pit. So thoughtful. Place was very clean. Google maps get you close, be prepared for half hour drive to stores, though in a pinch, there is a nearby coop open 7 days. Very poor to nonexistent cell service is the only drawback, but a landline is provided.

Very peaceful, family friendly home

We enjoyed our stay very much! The house was well appointed and clean, and the kitchen was well stocked (including milk, juice, bread, eggs and bacon!). We traveled with our young children and appreciated the layout and amenities.

Hello! I grew up in the pioneer valley area and enjoy sharing our lakeside with new visitors.

Why they chose this property

Ahoy! My dad bought our Lake house in the 1970s. He was a college professor and it was his "inner sanctum" where he was able to write his books in peace and quiet. Back then the house had a party line phone, and was the lake was a magical place to explore. Well, we have Wi-Fi and big screen TV's now, but the magic is still there. We love hosting families and people looking to have a fun time in a great natural setting.

What makes this property unique

We are close to Amherst and Northampton. The Quabbin Wilderness is nearby too.
We often say that our house is just 'life support' to the screened porch - which is the best place in the world to relax. We also have canoes and kayaks for you to use. You can swim right off of our beach or use the larger State beach down the road (free).
