Peace and Quiet
After 4 days in Colorado Springs, this was the peaceful part of vacation we were craving. Comfortable. Bed- comfy. Water- nice and hot and no issues. Beautiful scenery- sunrises and sunsets. We are into photography and got great horse shots and even some dark-sky Milky Way shots from the porch. Central location for Durango, Mesa Verde, San Juan Skyway for a beautiful drive to Telluride or Million Dollar Highway to MOLAS Pass. Lots of beautiful hikes. Perfect location and the dogs were fun and a HoooooT. Slept great!!

Highly recommend staying here
My partner and I stayed here for two nights as a first stop on a 7 day roadtrip. It was truly a special experience - close enough to Durango where we can go into town for dinner and activities (around a 25 minute drive) but far enough to enjoy the quiet of the ranch, the vast landscape views, and evening stargazing. We saw deer in the morning and loved the dogs that came by to say hi and ask for biscuits! I enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the horses graze while having a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Check in and check out was smooth and easy and the cabin was clean, cozy, but also spacious. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect place to unwind
This location is less than 30 minutes away from Durango, but makes you feel like you are far, far away from the hustle and bustle of the world. The cabin is inviting, spacious, and filled with natural light. I enjoyed walking around the property and meeting all the horses, dogs, and other wildlife. I made most of my meals and enjoyed them outside at the picnic table and enjoyed the views. I left super relaxed and recharged. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some quiet time.

Serenity and hounds
HD Ranch is an amazing and unique find. In the morning we sipped coffee on the porch watching the birds. The hounds usually stopped by for scratches and cookies as well. In the evenings we watched beautiful sunsets. The clear skies and minimal light pollution offered brilliant star gazing. Francie is wonderful and responsive and took care of issues as they arose. We were a bit bummed the hot tub was broken, but we understand the difficulty in getting service and parts. The property is remote, yet close enough to Durango to pop in for dinner or supplies. The guest house is comfortable, with all the necessary amenities for a short or long stay. The AC unit did have a bit of difficulty due to the heat, so the house got a bit warm in the afternoons, but opening the windows at night cooled it off quickly. It's a working horse ranch, if you enjoy horses and dogs you'll feel right at home. If you're looking quiet and serenity this is the place

Beautiful stay for our elopement in the mountains!
We loved staying at Francie’s ranch for our elopement in Silverton. It was so quaint and the cutest log cabin. We enjoyed gazing up at the stars the night we got married as well. Be prepared for the dogs to come by and pay a visit! Our daughter loved them.

Awesome Vacation
Frances is a wonderful host along with the dogs. Enjoyed every morning meet and greet with the dogs as they patiently waited for treats. The distance from town is just right and the views are spectacular. We have been returning to the same property for the past 3 yrs and have never been more happy. The Frost Family

Incredible Property
My family had a wonderful stay on the working horse ranch. It’s incredibly beautiful and peaceful. France was very accommodating and the ranch foreman Chris was amazing as well. Our son got to pet the horses, play in the snow, and ride on the tractor. Would highly recommend this property to your family for a memory you won’t forget.

Awesome views!
HD ranch is a beautiful, serene place to soak in all of the wonders of the Durango area! The guest house was very clean, organized and well suited to experiencing the whole rural southwest CO lifestyle. I am a horse person so I loved waking up to horses in the fields around the guest house, and visiting with the horses when they were near the fence lines. And the hound dogs are super friendly and came to visit me every morning! Only thing that could have been better was the hot tub needs updated—jets didn’t work and the bottom was eaten away a bit by the hard water. Overall it is a great place to stay and I will recommend it to friends who are planning on visiting the Durango area!

Relaxing and convenient
We really enjoyed our stay and found the location to be very quiet and relaxing. The 20-minute drive into Durango provided the great combination of convenience without being too close to town. We also found the home to be a great base for day trips to Mesa Verde National Park, Four Corners, and the Durango-Silverton railroad. Lots of excellent dining options in Durango, but the house is also equipped with everything needed for meals at home. The views from the deck, both day and night, are amazing. Great place to unwind.

I am a 74 year old woman who has been training horses and teaching horse back riding for 40 years now. I have this ranch for the love of horses and the beauty of Colorado. I am an avid hiker and also breed Black and Tan Coonhounds who love to share their love for the many guests that come and visit. I thank every guest who comes and visits and have met so many wonderful people! I am so ever grateful.

Why they chose this property

If you want a very unusual getaway and enjoy the beauty of this area with 360 degrees views of the mountains and mesas plus view much wildlife and of course the beautiful horses eating in pastures.

What makes this property unique

Everyone has told me that the guest house is much better than the pictures. You have your own deck to view the wildlife and a hot tub to watch the stars. Inside it is warm and inviting to relax. Everyone says they have never relaxed more than when they are here. Many enjoy walking the ranch and enjoying the views and horses.
