The entire ranch was beautiful and well maintained. The scenery is outstanding! The cabin we stayed in was a good size and clean (the only exception was the oven/needs cleaning). For me personally, I couldn’t sleep on the double bed (too firm and I felt like I was uneven) but slept ok in one of the single beds upstairs. The host was friendly and attentive. I would recommend this vrbo to anyone who loves to get away from the town and have some tranquility.
We have stayed here several times and it never cease to amaze us. Far from enough from town where the stars are bright and close enough for dinner and or sight seeing!
The wife and I were looking for a place torelax and have a home base to explore the Durango area from. Well this was the perfect spot! We enjoy remote locations to stay in. HD Ranch fit this requirement perfectly. The daily visits from the 3 Hound Dogs was the icing on the cake for us. We will definitely consider this in the future when traveling through the area.
Nice little cabin away from the city but still close enough to enjoy Historic Durango. Wonderful view of the mountains. Kids enjoyed giving the dogs treats when the dogs would come over in the morning. We would definitely stay here again.
We really enjoyed this property for its scenic beauty and affordability. We were looking for a quiet mountain retreat in the country to spend Christmas and Francine’s property fit the bill. Cabin was beautiful and clean, hosts were attentive. We would stay here again!
Second year to stay on the HD Ranch. Such a wonderful time and beautiful place to stay as a family. Francie is very kind and welcoming. Just down the road from Durango so it’s very convenient.
Only downside is the hot tub was broken and we didn't know until a couple days before arrival. No indication whether or not it will be repaired/replaced any time soon or ever.
Everything else was fantastic - thank you Francie!
After 4 days in Colorado Springs, this was the peaceful part of vacation we were craving. Comfortable. Bed- comfy. Water- nice and hot and no issues. Beautiful scenery- sunrises and sunsets. We are into photography and got great horse shots and even some dark-sky Milky Way shots from the porch. Central location for Durango, Mesa Verde, San Juan Skyway for a beautiful drive to Telluride or Million Dollar Highway to MOLAS Pass. Lots of beautiful hikes. Perfect location and the dogs were fun and a HoooooT. Slept great!!
My partner and I stayed here for two nights as a first stop on a 7 day roadtrip. It was truly a special experience - close enough to Durango where we can go into town for dinner and activities (around a 25 minute drive) but far enough to enjoy the quiet of the ranch, the vast landscape views, and evening stargazing. We saw deer in the morning and loved the dogs that came by to say hi and ask for biscuits! I enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the horses graze while having a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Check in and check out was smooth and easy and the cabin was clean, cozy, but also spacious. We would definitely stay here again.
This location is less than 30 minutes away from Durango, but makes you feel like you are far, far away from the hustle and bustle of the world. The cabin is inviting, spacious, and filled with natural light. I enjoyed walking around the property and meeting all the horses, dogs, and other wildlife. I made most of my meals and enjoyed them outside at the picnic table and enjoyed the views. I left super relaxed and recharged. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some quiet time.
HD Ranch is an amazing and unique find. In the morning we sipped coffee on the porch watching the birds. The hounds usually stopped by for scratches and cookies as well. In the evenings we watched beautiful sunsets. The clear skies and minimal light pollution offered brilliant star gazing.
Francie is wonderful and responsive and took care of issues as they arose. We were a bit bummed the hot tub was broken, but we understand the difficulty in getting service and parts.
The property is remote, yet close enough to Durango to pop in for dinner or supplies. The guest house is comfortable, with all the necessary amenities for a short or long stay. The AC unit did have a bit of difficulty due to the heat, so the house got a bit warm in the afternoons, but opening the windows at night cooled it off quickly.
It's a working horse ranch, if you enjoy horses and dogs you'll feel right at home. If you're looking quiet and serenity this is the place
Beautiful stay for our elopement in the mountains!
We loved staying at Francie’s ranch for our elopement in Silverton. It was so quaint and the cutest log cabin. We enjoyed gazing up at the stars the night we got married as well.
Be prepared for the dogs to come by and pay a visit! Our daughter loved them.

If you want a very unusual getaway and enjoy the beauty of this area with 360 degrees views of the mountains and mesas plus view much wildlife and of course the beautiful horses eating in pastures.
What makes this property unique
Everyone has told me that the guest house is much better than the pictures. You have your own deck to view the wildlife and a hot tub to watch the stars. Inside it is warm and inviting to relax. Everyone says they have never relaxed more than when they are here. Many enjoy walking the ranch and enjoying the views and horses.
