About this property

Green mailbox Green house

Just remodeled this home so almost everything is new. Lucerne Valley is a quirky little town with no stop lights, no McDonald's, no Burger King.
We are on a paved road just a short distance to grocery store and restaurants. The property is fully fenced and about 22 miles from Big Bear and
not too far from Deep Creek Hot Springs. Excellent riding and hiking trails nearby. The cooling system is an evaporative cooler which works
nicely except in high humidity. No garage access at this time.

The property was amazing. The grounds were very clean and had a lot of trees. The view from the kitchen and living room area was of an open desert with the mountains. The property is one of the very last ones on the street so it’s very quiet and peaceful. The only complaint we have is that the bed sheets in one of the rooms did not appear to have been changed before we got there. They had dog hair on them. There was a washing machine and dryer onsite so we quickly washed them and everything was fine. Thanks for letting us stay at this beautiful property.

My visit to the Wolves
Was so happy to find this house in Lucerne Valley, so close for my visit at Wolf Mountain Sanctuary. The house was great, roomy and comfortable. Had couple questions when I first checked in, called Dan and he was very nice and helpful. I will definitely stay there again.

Nice place - no frills - love the trees
Furnishings are a little sparse, but functional. Swamp cooler did the job nicely. Would stay here again.

Just the basics
The location was good for the trails I was planning on hiking during my stay in this area but the house itself was pretty bare minimum. The sheets and comforter were dirty in the bedrooms, there weren’t any screens on the bedroom windows, the yard had trash and dog poop throughout, and some of the cabinets were broken. The check in process was very easy but overall I would most likely not stay here again.

Overall disappointing; kitchen & living room were good. However the bed, pillows & linens were filthy. Bed sheets were covered with hair, mattress pad, mattress & pillows were disgustingly dirty & stained. Bathroom towels were in poor condition and stained. To feel comfortable enough to stay we purchased new bed sheets, comforter and pillows as well as a new mattress cover. There was also food & trash under the bed.

Short Stay in Lucerne Valley
I had a short visit with my sister here while she was on a road trip. The home is comfortable, and I enjoyed our time here more than if I had chosen a hotel in the area.

Peaceful, quiet getaway
Me, my husband & sound sensitive dog stayed here for New Year's Eve weekend to escape the noise & fireworks from the city...perfect spot! Calm and peaceful. Beautiful night skies and the air stayed clear & fresh through the night & day (no aftersmoke from any fireworks, Yay!) Simple minimalist home & location. Property owner was very attentive & responsive.

Clean and spacious lodging in the middle of a desert
The Vrbo uses evaporative cooling, and at first we were concerned that it wouldn't be strong enough due to what we saw online and our unfamiliarity with that type of AC. But it was not a problem at all, even during the heatwave over Labor Day weekend in 2020, and it worked super well. There's a dial that turns it on or off, and there's a middle notch in between but which still means 'off' (I accidentally turned the dial toward 'on' but not all the way, which meant it didn't turn on but fortunately it wasn't too hot by the time we came back). We had the AC running the entire night, but because it gets cold in the desert at night, it got cold in the morning. This meant we learned to close our AC vents a bit before going to bed, and to turn it off in the morning. The stars are so gorgeous at night. We recommend turning off all the lights, going outside for at least a few minutes, so that the stars outside become even brighter and you can see the 'cosmic dust' even better as your eyes adjust. The lodging is spacious and the dining area + living room were very clean and modern. I suggest being careful about leaving food or food liquids in the kitchen; we had ants come in after we had a little bit of watermelon juice on the counter to the right of the sink. They look like regular ants, but a few days later we discovered that they were some sort of fire(?) ants since one of us got bitten on the back of her hand. The washer and dryer were convenient. The only real hiccup we had was when going to bed, we noticed one of the bed's microfiber sheets hadn't been properly washed and had a lot of human hair on it (the microfiber part made things stick to it easily), so the 3 of us had to share one queen bed and got poor quality sleep---someone eventually moved to the living room couch---since the other sheets needed 3 hours to wash and dry. The Vrbo host was understanding and apologized for the mistake, and refunded us for the first night. Now that that mistake has been made, hopefully it should no longer be an issue. Communication was the host was immediate (he picked up when we called about the sheet problem) and we checked in in the evening so we let ourselves in using the lock box. The location is around 40 minutes from Big Bear Lake, and the path is through some scenic and windy mountain roads. I would recommend this location to people who are ok being in the middle of a desert and who are looking for a spacious lodging with a reasonable host.

Cute cottage in the desert!
Perfect location for visiting with our family. There was much more space than we actually needed and weren't there very much. The home was clean and quiet. We enjoyed watching the sunrise from the front porch. We will plan on using the next time we are visiting family.

Cool 🏜️ nights
We had everything we needed in the house. The house itself is beautiful, it's spacious and the beds were comfortable. We had a great time. I had a bit of work to do so I really enjoyed the desk he had available. Thank you for the coffee!!! The view of the stars at night was the best part. Thank you again for letting us use your home for our family vacation.

Peaceful Stay
We had a wonderful time at the house. It is clean and looks like it’s recently been refurbished. Spent a lot of our time sitting on the porch enjoying the views of the mountains and native plants and soaking up the sun. The kids and dog had fun running around outside in the fenced yard. It was a very peaceful stay and we plan on going back. :)

I've owned this property since 2005 and have really enjoyed the area. I ride dual sport motorcycles and this area is outstanding.
Even if you don't ride bikes there are tons of outdoor options in the area.

Why they chose this property

If it's a little warm just cruise up to Big Bear, it's usually 20 degrees cooler there and only about 22 miles up the road!
