About this property

Dog-friendly, FREE BIKES next to Historic Downtown

This apartment is one of five units in a completely renovated 1880's mansion and is sanitized between guests. It is a sun-filled pet-friendly unit on the second floor with large windows and old pine floors. Sit in the rocking chairs on the front balcony. The location is perfect, so close to the historic district with all the shopping, restaurants and bars, Bikes are available to roam around town. There is one guaranteed parking space. Dogs are allowed for a $40 pet fee per dog (max of 2)

This second floor apartment is in a charming historic home built in the 1880's, that was originally two houses and converted into five apartments decades ago. The property was completely renovated in 2018. You have a large, completely renovated, eat-in kitchen with all the pots/pans/dishes you need to cook (or not, you're on vacation!). A large new bathroom with a tile shower with glass doors and full size washer and dryer.
The building is located in front of an elementary school.
You'll love the charm of the home as well as all the conveniences. Your apartment is located on the 2nd floor, and there is nothing above you.

One of the best parts of the property is the large backyard, complete with picnic table, charcoal bbq grill and lots of other seating. It's got beautiful lighting in the backyard too.

This is a one bedroom apartment furnished with pretty antiques. There is the possibility of other sleep arrangements on the sofa bed. The sofa bed is a futon - which is probably too small for two adults. The primary bed is a very comfy queen with an antique iron bedstand.

********** We actively encourage our guests to purchase travel insurance.

We will only refund the booking for a hurricane threat if an evacuation is ordered in the area by the State of Florida. We experience threats nearly every other week during hurricane season, that rarely amount to anything.

Contracted Covid? That's why you need to purchase insurance. It will cover your booking reimbursement, and we hope you have a speedy recovery.

Your apartment is completely separate. You enter in the main door, and there are four apartments (two upstairs, two downstairs) in this part of the building. You have free use of the shared back yard, which has picnic tables and other seating, charcoal bbq grills and the shared bicycles, along with a funky pedicab where one of you can bike the spoiled person around. Flashing lights included!

We have a wonderful property manager, Gina, who lives a minute away and is available to answer any questions or provide any missing things. Can't find a corkscrew? Missing facecloths? They're all supposed to be there - just ask and if it's anything we can provide, we will. We want all of our guests to have a five star experience and it all starts by communication! We're also fully available by email or text. It's just that we're traveling too!

This is an interesting neighborhood. We're located right across the street from Ketterlinus Elementary school, so during recess time, you definitely hear the sound of the children, but it means it's pretty quiet at night. There's not a lot of street noise.

It's fun to sit outside on weekend nights and hear the music from downtown, but you don't hear it in the house.

We're in a neighborhood called Flagler's Model Land. Most of the houses in the neighborhood were built in the 1800's and some are very charming. Most of the area was originally owned by Henry Flagler, who played an important part of the growth of St. Augustine. Flagler College is also just a couple of blocks away.

We're a few minute walk to The Social Lounge and The Barley Republic, if you're looking for a drink. The food at The Barley Republic is very Irish and very tasty. Just a bit further and you get to our absolute favorite restaurant: Thai House & Sushi on Hypolita. Don't let the outside fool you with those ugly orange chairs. The food and the sushi is top notch, creative and delicious. Tell them Lindsey sent you!

We are less than two blocks from a trolley stop next to the Wax Museum, which most visitors to St. Augustine like to use to explore the city.

You are always welcome to park on the street in front of the house if there is room. If there's no parking, you also will have ONE assigned spot behind the property. Directions to the parking will be provided with your check-in instructions.

If you have a second car, we do have overflow parking for possibly one extra car on a first come, first serve basis. Parking permit is required. It's usually not a problem to find extra parking if you need to.

For longer trips around, Uber, taxis and pedicabs are readily available.

This is a wonderful old house, but these old houses weren't built with the same soundproofing that houses are now, so you may hear some noise. Events and parties are not allowed as a result. We do allow pets, so if you have severe allergies, you need to be aware of this. If you bring your dog, please make sure your dog is quiet. We can't allow constantly barking dogs to be left alone. If it's a problem, you'll have to take the dog with you. Make sure, as always, to clean up after your pet. Most importantly, enjoy yourself.

Nice Getaway
Came over from the Tampa area for a few days to relax and decompress. We wanted to be close to Old Town and were not disappointed. The checkin process was easy; 2 combo codes and we were in! Cute unit, very clean and well appointed. Loved the quirkiness due to the age of the building- a lot of character. The AC was nice and cold when we arrived on a hot ,hot day. Overall we were very happy (including our pup who joined us) and will definitely reach out to our great hosts the next time we come to town.

Great Property and Location
We really enjoyed our stay. The entire property was very well kept. The bed was super comfy too! Parking was not a concern. The location of this property is fantastic. Beautiful neighborhood and short walk to everything. We visit St Augustine a few times each year and this location is by far the best we have found. Would highly recommend this property to anyone planning to visit St Augustine!

50th birthday trip
My husband and I came to St. Augustine to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We wanted a place to stay that was close to St. George street and where we could make ourselves at home. Before we even arrived, Benoit and Lindsey had reached out with information about the rental and parking instructions. Everything was very detailed so there was nothing left to guess. We loved being prepared when we arrived. The apartment was immaculate when we entered. Everything was well stocked. We didn't use the kitchen but it was nice to have glasses and utensils to eat our take out. If you were cooking here, you would have everything you need. The provided shampoo, conditioner and soaps in the bathroom were much appreciated. We also liked having a washer and dryer, including detergent, bleach and dryer sheets. We did laundry more than we thought and were able to come home with only the clothes we were wearing dirty. The neighborhood was nice and quiet. The only real noise we had was a car alarm and the dumpster being emptied at the school across the street. The location was awesome. We walked almost everywhere and usually never took more than 10-15 minutes to get to most places on foot. I would recommend this property for a couple. Anything more might feel a little crowded but the two of us had plenty of space to spread out. Thanks for a great stay.

Amazing surprise find close to historic district
This charming renovated 1800’s home was so wonderfully surprising. The entire home has been beautifully decorated from ground floor up, inside and out. The apartment has its original hardwood floors and doors, beautifully painted, and all else is completely updated and filled with well-placed, comfortable and functional furniture. The host/hostesses made sure that we had all the amenities. The kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked, spotless and spacious for such an old home. There was nothing I needed that I could not find! There was easy street parking and it was walkable within 0.3 miles of the historic district which made it the perfect location! We were able to bring our pet, Ed—a beautiful and well-behaved Australian shepherd mix that we hate to leave behind. And finally, there was a balcony with two rocking chairs off the front that were wonderful for a glass of wine in the evening and coffee in the morning! Cheers to these wonderful hosts/hostesses! You did a fantastic job with this property!

Lovely, relaxing, convenient!
This location is perfect - very close to the historic area but away from the hustle & bustle. Unit 5 is on the second floor, facing a quiet street and elementary school. We loved sitting in the rockers, drinking our coffee on our private balcony in the mornings. The unit, itself, is charming, cozy, and well-planned. We had everything we needed and more. We really appreciated having a washer and dryer in the apartment. Didn't expect to need it for our short stay but it turned out to be a godsend. In addition to how well thought-out things were for accommodating guests, the renovations and updates to this historic structure have been done with respect - an excellent blending of the old and the new. We loved our little anniversary getaway to St. Augustine and staying here was a big part of that. Thank you!

Planning another visit
We had such a lovely time staying one of the second floor units. The apartment is very close and walkable to all of the tourist spots and restaurants, but it’s also a quiet and comfortable place to take a rest when you need it. We had a cozy coffee on the balcony each morning and then enjoyed everything the city had to offer for the rest of our visit. We’ll definitely stay here again if it’s available.

My girlfriend & I stayed here for four nights in August & we had a wonderful time! The place was exactly as described; clean, great location, roomy with a nice porch & just what we had hoped. As a previous person had reported, we also enjoyed watching the young children enjoy themselves during their recess while relaxing on the porch. The porch had a nice breeze toward the evening hours where we enoyed many nights. We had no problem parking right in front of the unit so that was a nice surprise. We mostly ate out, but the full kitchen was useful for breakfast & sometimes lunch. The washer & dryer was appreciated. We skipped many of the touristy activities & instead enoyed walking over to St. George Street browsing the unique shops & leisurely walking around the area wherever something piqued our interest. It was definitely hot & humid in August so we drove one day & parked behind the Columbia Restaurant ready to pay the $10 parking fee, however, it was waived by the attendent as my gf purchased some items in their gift shop. We walked down to the 123 Burger Shop the first night for a delicious burger & fries the first night as we were tired & it was very convenient. It was a very laidback vacation which we both desired. We were on the 2nd floor (Unit 5) so we never really heard the other tenants; it was very peaceful. The owners/agent let us know that if we wanted anything to just call them so that was very comforting; it's run very professionally. Just a wonderful trip!!

We love to travel ourselves, and spend much of our time at other AirBnB properties. We are always finding ideas on how to make the stay for our guests more enjoyable. We travel with our dog, Scout and go all over the world with her and her new "brother", the crazy Bandido from Peru.

Why they chose this property

This property is so well located. We bought this property because we love old homes and we love renovating them. We spent two long years on this house, but the results are worth it. It turned out to be a beautiful home and I'm sure you will enjoy it.

What makes this property unique

The unique part about this home includes the use of the back yard, and of course, there are first-come, first-serve bicycles that you are welcome to use to explore town during the day. It's so close to walk that we rarely take the bikes ourselves, but it's great to explore farther afield. It was originally two separate houses built around 1896. At some point, the houses were joined and with a lot of quirky additions, five separate apartments were made.
