Make Beautiful Memories! Our beautifully renovated house and its adjacent clède, “La Baraque” is located in the heart of the Natural Regional Park of Monts d’Ardèche, a corner of France that offers charming villages, dramatic sceneries, and a daily choice between energetic activities and perfect lethargy. You will enjoy the breath-taking view of the Chassezac valley in this nicely renovated countryside stone-built house. Be prepared to enjoy nice meals, cocktails, or relaxing activities under the vineyards or playing games with kids. The House offers plenty of space and can accommodate up to 12 people plus two babies, therefore is the perfect location to spend a fantastic time with the family or friends. 8 people can sleep in the main building and 4 in the clède, which is a beautifully renovated old-stone building, very typical in the cevenol area, used previously exclusively to dry chestnuts.

Activities nearby are endless. You can explore the nature, walking on the nearby hiking-path, cycling, climbing, fishing, or swimming in the Chassezac River nearby. Canyoning, rafting, climbing are activities to be done within a very short distance. The very famous village of Les Vans with its highly reputed Saturday market, is only 20 minutes drive from the house, driving through amazing landscapes. Just get lost for hours deciding on choice of olives, hams, “Saucissons”, cheeses and sampling the sweetest strawberries and cherries. Added to this are the many stalls of fashionable French clothing, materials and jewellery. Experiment the French Art de Vivre !
You will even find an amazing 1-star Michelin Restaurant in Les Vans.

The house has been completely renovated while preserving the authenticity of its original construction with exposed stone and traditional framing. Kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms offer all modern comforts.

Magnifique cadre mais peu d'espaces extérieurs

Belle maison, fraiche et bien équipée. Les procédures d'arrivée et le départ sont très facile et Manon d'une grande aide. De la nature autour avec les chemins de rando et la rivière en contrebas (plutôt 20 minutes à pied que 5, avec des enfants) bien rafraichissante. Beaucoup d'activités et visites aux alentours. La clède est appréciable pour isoler une partie du groupe car en cas de mauvais temps, le salon non isolé de "l'open space" peut sembler petit. La terrasse et le barbecue sont agréables et on peut souvent y trouver de l'ombre. En revanche, les espaces extérieurs sans pelouse sont décevants pour des familles avec enfants et l'annonce n'est pas représentative à ce sujet. La proximité de la route n'est pas visible sur les photos (30 cm du terrain de pétanque). L'accès à la route est bien sécurisé mais du coup tout l'espace en contrebas n'est pas exploitable avec enfants (la haie insuffisante en termes de clôture). De même le solarium est très petit et le jardin en terrasses inutilisable et dangereux pour les enfants. Agréable séjour toutefois

Compleet huis in authentiek stijl

Het huis ligt op een fantastisch locatie met veel privacy. De inboedel van het huisje is bijna overcompleet met alle gemakken van dien. Voor mensen met allergieën kan de vochtigheid een probleem zijn. In het huis staan vele producten om insecten te bestrijden. Om de boodschappen te kunnen doen moet er wel rekeningen gehouden worden dat het minimaal half uur reistijd kost. De supermarkt in het plaatsje dichtbij beschreven is vanaf medio Mei gesloten. Wij hebben er een heerlijke vakantie gehad.

Maison isolée dans un cadre magnifique

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour entre amis à La Baraque. La maison est située dans un cadre magnifique. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié les chemins de randonnées alentours et les baignades au ruisseau à 5 minutes de la maison. La communication pour l'arrivée et le départ était également très facile.

Super baraque dans un coin très joli où il y a plein de bonne choses à faire et plein de bonne choses à goûter. Rien à reprocher, ni à la maison, ni à l'endroit, ni aux hôtes. Merci bien Laurence, Stan et Manon.

Super séjour à la Baraque

Très bon séjour en famille à la Baraque, la maison est au calme et très bien équipée, pas loin de la rivière, idéal pour passer de bons moments en famille ou entre amis. Je recommande!

Superbe séjour en Cévennes d'Ardèche !

Une très belle maison, de grandes pièces à vivre et une terrasse superbe ! Très appréciée par toute la famille, petits et grands y ont passé une belle semaine. La rivière en contrebas, quel plaisir ! Nous avons bien apprécié la proximité du site des anciennes mines ou nous avons fait quelques expéditions. Les cyclistes adultes ont fait de très beaux tours, mais il faut savoir que les routes sinueuses et très étroites sont trop dangereuses pour les enfants ...

excellent séjour

Très belle propriété avec tout le nécessaire à disposition pour passer de belles vacances . Accueil et organisation excellents, personne sur place très disponible. Nous avons bien profité de la rivière qui est au bout d'un joli chemin et des environs. Seul hic, la route juste devant la maison (attention avec enfants) mais peu fréquentée donc pas de nuisances sonores.

Superbe maison

Le gîte est vraiment magnifique et bien équipé. Nous avons pleinement pu profiter de l'extérieur et de ses équipements notamment la terrasse et le terrain de pétanque. L'emplacement est également super puisqu'isolé et proche de la rivière. En bref ce fut un magnifique séjour que je ne peux que vous conseiller !

Un week end prolongé en Ardèche

Très belle maison, avec tout le nécessaire pour cuisiner, se détendre entre amis. La route d'accès peut être un frein à certaines personnes (route étroite avec gorges vertigineuses). Le ménage aurait mérité un bon dépoussiérage car l'intérieur sentait vraiment le renfermé. Toutefois, séjour agréable.

UN HEBERGEMENT DE QUALITE DANS UN COIN TRANQUILLE

L'ensemble maison et clède constitue un cadre de vie confortable, qui facilite la vie de groupe. L'endroit parfait pour se mettre au vert en famille ou entre amis, amoureux de Nature et d'authenticité, dans une belle maison typiquement ardéchoise. Belle terrasse abritée où il fait bon prendre les repas, avec d'excellents produits du terroir des marchés environnants ! Avons passé un excellent séjour !

Nous avons passé un agréable séjour à la Baraque, rien ne manquait pour que notre séjour se déroule sereinement. Calme, Commodité de la maison, espace, une maison où il fait bon vivre, nous étions 11, avec 3 Ados et 2 enfants. Personne ne s’est ennuyé, nous pouvions tous les jours nous divertir dans les environs au gré de nos envies, ou tout simplement rester à la maison .Les repas et Apéro ont souvent durer très longtemps autour de la grande table de jardin.

Schöne Sommertage

Das Haus liegt alleine an einem bewaldeten Berghang. Das Haus ist gemütlich und feriengerecht eingerichtet. Es ist alles da was eine große Familie für entspannte Urlaubstage benötigt. Die Terrasse ist schattig mit schönen Blick über Hänge und Wälder der Cevennen. Das Haus liegt an einer kleinen und schmalen Bergstrasse mit sehr wenig Verkehr (tagsüber ca 5 Fahrzeuge in der Stunde abends und nachts praktisch kein Verkehr) In der Nähe des Hauses gibt es eine wunderbare Badestelle am Fluss bei einem kleinen Weiler. Zur Badestelle geht es steil den Hang hinunter. Fußweg ca 10-15 Minuten auf einem schönen und abwechslungsreichen Pfad. In den umliegenden Dörfern finden sich alle Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und ein breites Freizeitangebot (Klettern Kanu Wandern etc.) Wir hatten sehr schöne Tage. Die Betreuung vor Ort war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Vielen Dank!

Einsamkeit pur

Das Haus ist schön gelegen und gut ausgestattet. Man sollte sich aber darauf einstellen, dass alle Wege deutlich länger dauern, als man sich das von der Kilometerzahl ausgehend vorstellt. Bis auf einen Biomarkt in Pied de Borne (10 Minuten) gibt es Einkaufsmöglichkeiten am nächsten in Les Vans (35 Min. mit dem Auto ). In der Clède gibt es 4 Betten (1 schmales Doppelbett und 1 Stockbett) , Im Haupthaus gibt es im 1. OG insgesamt 8 Schlafmöglichkeiten in 2 Schlafzimmern (je 2) und 1 offenem Raum (4). Er ist nicht zum Treppenhaus oder zum Gang abgetrennt und deshalb nur begrenzt nutzbar. Mit 12 Personen würde ich das Haus deshalb wirklich nur belegen, wenn einige der 12 Kinder sind oder es eine Familie ist, Wir waren dort mit 7 Erwachsenen und das war in Ordnung.

Très agréable séjour dans une magnifique region

La Baraque vaut le détour! Très agréable maison où nous avons passé en famille et entre amis une superbe semaine. Les activités à proximité immédiate ou un peu plus loin sont nombreuses ( Chauvet, canyoning, Via ferrata,....) Manon nous a remarquablement accueilli et conseillé tout au long du séjour.

Een natuurhuis

Dit grote huis én het bijgebouw met twee slaapkamers en douchekamer werd mooi gerenoveerd. Het gelijkvloers van het huis is wel donker, maar wie zit er ook binnen met zo’n mooi terras en uitzicht! Je moet wat tegen beestjes kunnen (veel rupsen en motten) maar het huis is wel proper. De wandeling naar de rivier is een kleine uitdaging, steil naar beneden langs smalle weggetjes (en s avonds weer omhoog natuurlijk), maar aan de rivier vind je wel leuke, volledig afgesloten plekjes waar het aangenaam vertoeven is. Wij namen lunchpakket mee omdat het wel niet snel en makkelijk heen-en-weer is en de uitstap dus best voor een lange periode is. In Pieddeborne op 10min rijden met de auto is een klein winkeltje met lekker brood voor s morgens. Andere uitstappen naar het meer van Villefort en Les Vans zijn ook leuk. Wel steeds een hele rit langs de smalle kronkelende baantjes. Voor 1 week was dit een aangenaam verblijf, in alle rust!

Super schön.

Das Domizil liegt abseits, sodass es richtig toll zum Feiern ist. Eine Idylle mitten in den Bergen. Sehr schön eingerichtet. Wir haben uns richtig wohl gefühlt.

A beautiful house with great nature around

We had a great time in Le barrac. It was perfect for us because we travelled with 5 teens/children and they could have their " own" house. We loved the terrace and playing table tennis and basket ball. The only thing one has to consider especially with smaller kids is, that you don't really have a garden around and the house is directly at the street. There are not many cars coming, though. The area around is very beautiful, you can go canoing, canyoning, hiking and just relax very close by at the river- that was our favourite! ;-)

We are Laurence and Stan, a French couple with three young boys, and almost by coincidence we were fortunate enough to find this absolutely charming house in Ardèche in 2006. Although a lot of renovation work was to be done, we knew it was our chance to create a very charming second home in an amazing landscape and were prepared to start the very ambitious project to restore it entirely…in our spare time.

The entire renovation of the house was an 8-year long journey, starting in April 2006. Lots of joy, hope, sometimes pain and distress but always in a good mood. Like any project the final steps of the “S” curve took longer than expected to complete, probably because we had regular additions to the family (nappy changing vs. plastering!) and because the house became more and more comfy, calling for laziness. The work was highly disrupted by cocktails, long meals, BBQ, friends and family visiting, and lots of DYI shopping sometimes to Valence, Avignon or even Montpellier.

We lived in the UK and now in the Netherlands and as French expatriates this house offers the best of everything we want during vacations: relaxation, physical activities, culture, breath-taking sceneries (and hills) and more simply “French Art de Vivre”.

Each stay in “La Baraque” is an unique opportunity to fully disconnect from our very active family and professional life in a big city and re-focus on the basics: barbecues, cocktails, outdoor activities, cutting trees, making jams, collecting chestnuts and cooking the wild boar offered by the hunters.

Why they chose this property

During the 8 years of renovation we have created the perfect base for discovering the stunning and dramatic scenery of the surrounding area, and to experiment all the activities that the Region has to offer. After so many years of hard work “La Baraque” has become a little paradise...Due to our professional activities and our location in the Netherlands we cannot spend all the time we would love in this house, but we still want this house to be full of life, souvenirs and happy family time.

If you define paradise during holidays by privacy, peace and quietness then you are certainly in the centre of it. You will have a romantic house to relax and enjoy and spend a stress free vacation in, but within 20 minutes or less you can really experiment what makes Ardèche a very famous French touristic destination.

10 things you will love about “La Baraque”…

We wanted “La Baraque” to be more than just a holiday rental: we wanted it to be your home away from home. There are several features that make this traditional thick-stone house unique, offering warm and cosy atmosphere associated in the comfort and the lifestyle of a true family home.

1. All rooms have been restored to fully highlight the beautiful woodwork of the roof and the charm of the large stone walls
2. Perfect exposure with the necessary natural shadow provided by a pergola of Virginia creeper over half of the patio
3. The cosy and charming atmosphere is enhanced by the presence of the “Clède” (old traditional chesnut drying house), the beautiful stone-made washing place under a nearly centenary fig tree, and the small river passing by
4. Enjoy your well deserved cocktails (or pastis) and savour the olives and saucissons that you have carefully chosen in les Vans market
5. The mass of the stones makes the house cool in the summer
6. Fully equipped kitchen, with a traditional dining table and bench, easily sitting eight people, if not ten.
