Michael and Dawna could not be nicer hosts. They had everything we needed for our family of 5, even access to their extensive spice collection, stocked paper towels, toilet paper, detergent, floss, lotion- the works ! They really went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. The property itself is very secluded. I liked that all 3 bedrooms are located on the same floor. At night we could hear owls which was really cool and during the day we picked fruit from a variety of hearty fruit trees on the property (lemons the size of baseballs , limes, oranges, grapes, advocados , and figs). There is no traffic where the house is tucked back on a private road and it Is so peaceful and quiet . We did a lot of day trips during our stay- Monterey , 17 mile drive , San Fransico , big basin , Santa Cruz, etc and chose the house for its central location . There is a little market , coffee shop and pizza shop nearby. Of course downtown Santa Cruz is not a far drive and that has a lot to offer. Loved their iron skillets for cooking and reverse osmosis system drinking water from the mountain spring. We are from Maryland and couldn’t believe we could sleep with the half door open and no bugs came in. Perfect weather at night . Oh and the hummingbirds come out to visit around 6 pm along with the deer. Lovely property , great location, private hot tub, majestic redwoods on the property, lovely hosts - thanks again

We are centrally located on the Monterey Bay on the central coast of California. Coming in from San Francisco area it takes about 1 1/2 less depending on traffic.
You will be heading south from San Francisco on highway 101 or 280 headed to Hwy 85 and going through the Santa Cruz mountains- hwy 17 - until you drop down to sea level in Santa Cruz. Then you are on Hwy 1.
You can also take highway 1 south along the coast from the San Francisco area. It's a lovely ride.

For reference purposes we are approximately 5-6 hours north of the greater Los Angeles, CA. This depends on which route you take. The coast route along highway 1 will be more time consuming than highway 101

Beautiful and unique property. Very private and located in lush clearing in the woods filled with birds, wildlife and flowers. The last mile of road to the house was a very steep winding incline, which did take us by surprise The house was well stocked and contained everything you might need. It was an amazing place to relax and spend time with family. Spa, table tennis, multiple areas to socialize and play area for kids. We really enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful Getaway!

This property is such a cool one! It didn't feel like a rental property but like we were staying in someone else's home, which is true because the owners live in it half the year. Speaking of the owners, they were extremely quick to respond to any issues we might have had. This property, as the photos show, has so many different little sitting areas with lots to do, from corn hole to ping pong, exploring, hot tubbing, and relaxing. We didn't take advantage of most of the fire pits because we happened to hit it on a weekend heat wave, but that just made the beaches close by all the better. The kitchen really was fully equipped, including with spices and vinegars, coffee and oils, and condiments! We brought our own food and cooked all our meals there. They stock TP, PT, laundry and dishwasher detergent, and shampoo (but no body wash/bar soap at the time of our visit, bring your own). The bathrooms were unique, but sufficient! Lots of toys for little ones and baby gates and barricades to keep them safe. Definitely bring mosquito repellent and maybe some of those mosquito electronic repellents like Thermacell, because we got a lot of bites in the evenings, and because there are no screens on the downstairs doors and windows, we had to keep them closed. This was such a neat rental property, we all left feeling relaxed and closer than ever to our family. Thank you McClellan Family!

Beautiful escape

Didnt realize we had booked our stay during the Perseid meteor shower and it was absolutely breathtaking. Theres barely any phone service, and the wifi is slow, but that was the whole purpose of our trip, to disconnect. If youre super scared about losing service in the forest for a weekend, accept it with open arms :)

A truly amazing gem

This is one of the most peaceful places we have ever stayed at. What makes it even more incredible is knowing that the entire house was made by the owner and his wife from trees on the property over a 5 year period.. Bring all you need and stay the entire time in the shadows of the beautiful trees and you will not regret it.

Beautiful and Serene Property

We enjoyed our stay, and it was quite comfortable for our family, 5 adults, 2 kids and 2 dogs. The property itself is beautiful and serene. You can hear the sound of silence here. Michael was great throughout the entire process and communicated well all the things we needed to know. He even left the lights on as we arrived late night to the property. The only thing was that the hot tub didn’t get as warm as we would have liked, but it was not Michael’s fault. Apparently, the cleaning crew had shut the switch off, and we couldn’t get the temp high enough in the short time that we had on our last evening. I would certainly recommend staying here and it’s a great getaway from the noise. We liked that we could get to Santa Cruz relatively smoothly.

Excellent Property!

We'd come up to Corralitos for a wedding at the Amphitheater of the Redwoods (a wonderful place in itself!) and this house, just about 10 minutes away, was the perfect location for the bride and groom and thier attendants to stay. Cabin in the Woods

Wow!!!! What a Beautiful Home and Gorgeous location! This cabin is surrounded by Beautiful Big Coastal Redwoods. We loved the patio, we bbq and sat out by the fire pit and had dinner, listened to music and played games. The Mornings were so peaceful out on the beautiful wrap around deck. We listened to the birds and saw deer (humming birds everywhere). The cabin is really well stocked with everything we needed to cook. Plenty of space for all 8 of us. We drove to Santa Cruz and Capitola for a day of fun at the beach. We couldn’t wait to get back and enjoy the cabin and all the beauty that surrounds it. Michythe host was exceptional at answering all out questions at all times. Thank you for sharing your cabin with us we can’t wait to return. Thanks for sharing your beautiful space

We will remember forever walking out on your back deck and seeing deer watching us as they (young males) jousted with their growing antlers and ate grass, the humming birds fearlessly gathering sweetened water from the hanging bottles. Inside, we were fascinated by the artwork, the books, the stairways, and the obvious care that was taken in making this house so amazing. Dawna and I lived on the property for 3 years without electricity ( we had a generator) during that time, we harvested redwoods. We had the redwood milled into lumber. The lumber dried for over 2 years. During this time period , we also had 2 children and adopted a 9 year old boy. We then developed the property. We designed and built our home using the redwood lumber from the land. We also brought in electricity, developed the artisan well and paved the private road. We raised our four children at our home. They continue to come back and stay as often as possible, They and our 14 grandchildren love the home as much as we do. The homes name is Kopjekia, which is an Africiakans word that means: mountain home. It had this name when we bought the property. (Quite a story about the name)
We truly love the home and property. You will too. !!!!!!!
