A Storybook Castle

We had a wonderful time at the Manor House - it was a dreamy location and what a view! It was walking distance to town and great restaurants and close to Beynac Castle as well as many others. I highly recommend this magical place.

A trip back in time

This is an amazing property with extraordinary views over the Dordogne. We had high hopes based on the pictures and the property exceeded them by a long way. Getting in and out is a bit tricky but that was to be expected. The pool was a huge highlight for us, as was exploring Beynac and the surrounding Perigord.

Beautiful place to stay

The property was ideal for our family group (ages 10-79). We particularly enjoyed the outdoor space with its wonderful views over the Dordogne valley and places to spend time together or apart. The pool is fantastic. There was ample kitchen equipment, crockery and cutlery and masses of fridge and freezer space. There is an ice cream parlour immediately opposite the gate. However, one toilet was broken and needed careful handling and the bathrooms need updating. There were many cobwebs in the lounge! The property is not very suitable for young children, having long, ungated stone stairs in the garden and no secure gate to the pool. For older people and those with mobility problems, there are a lot of stairs, the main spiral staircase does not have a handrail and the walk to the village is very steep.

Speechless

Wonderful experience. I could pick out the few negative aspects but then consider it is 12th century Manor house. We were in awe of the historical nature of the entire area. The home was breathtaking. With some improvements to the bathrooms it would be not just 5’s but 10’s across the board. We would absolutely recommend to any one but if you can’t deal with a few very small inconveniences why are you staying in an 800 year old house. Loved it!!

Beautiful spacious manor with view

The manor house was spacious ,beds were comfortable and bathrooms were efficient. The grounds with blooming roses were beautiful. The views were superb. The pool was heated and warm. Having the washer and dryer really helped us to pack lighter. The only feature that was problematic was the parking. Cars need to be no more than 4 passenger and the number works better if there are only 2. We had 3 cars 2 of which were large and it required some maneuvering with very little margin for error. Three smaller cars would be easier. Overall a very good experience.

Best View in the Dordogne

You couldn’t get a better view if you tried, but the rest was less than standard. The kitchen was not that well equipped. The bedrooms are not comfortable and the bathrooms are dirty and need to be replaced. No stereo unless you happen to be using cassettes (which nobody does). If you want to drink out of matching wine glasses there are only 3 that match. The access is difficult if you have a large vehicle and they should explain this on the listing (restricted height and width). It is also very difficult to find even with instructions. Fans in bedrooms, some work, some don’t. Broken bedside lamps. They charge you for cleaning although the place isn’t very clean.

Incredible find

My family and I stayed at the Manor in June 2024 for 1 week and we can honestly say we were blown away with the manor and the incredible views of Beynac. We sought permission from Sabine to host a wedding celebration there with just the guests staying at the manor after legally marrying in the UK. We were allowed suppliers to come on site such as a photographer and private chef and managed to achieve some incredible photos due to the location. The manor itself was a little difficult to find from the instructions but the parking it offered was perfect. We have an SUV type vehicle which fitted through the lanes and the gate. There were plenty of spaces for suppliers and at one point we had 5 cars parked there. The inside of the manor could of course do with some upgrades, however this is a historic location so wouldn’t be expecting modern decor, more just the fact the kitchen appliances could do with upgrading as well as the bathroom, but they were clean and useable, which is the important thing. The only thing of note which provided some difficulty to us is the fact that one of the bedrooms has a very small and rickety spiral staircase into another bedroom above it. This is fine for adults to use but offers no privacy between the two rooms. Prior to arriving we requested 2 travel cots but only 1 was there. After contacting them another one with brought to the house within the hour along with softer mattresses for them both! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Great location made the holiday

The view from the elevated position is what makes the house so good. There is also easy access to a plethora of things to do from energetic to simply relaxing with a good book.

Like a fairytale!

We spent 7 nights and still weren’t ready to leave. The views are spectacular and almost unreal. We used the pool every day and it was such a nice thing that really enhanced our stay. From the moment you walk in the gate, you’ll be transported. It’s a wonderful sanctuary and a great hopping-off point for the entire region. We all said we would love to come back! And a special thanks to Sabine, who was gracious and helpful and a darn good driver. Side note: don’t trust Google to get you there or you’ll also need Sabine to get you out and you’ll have some explaining to do to the rental car agency.

Stunning manor house

Amazing views, a fantastic location and Sabine was very helpful and responsive. The house interior is impressive - think living in a castle. A couple of minor things: the interior is a bit dated, but in keeping with the style of property, the kitchen a little small for catering a large group, but well stocked and more than adequate, and walking up from the village is good exercise! These are minor quibbles. Overall we could not recommend this house more. We all wanted to stay on longer and to tome back again as soon as possible. Fantastic.

Family gathering

Though Beynac-et-Cazenac is not the easiest destination in France, once you are there, you never want to leave. That is the consensus from all 10 of our family meme era about our stay at the Chateau. It far exceeded our wildest imaginations...from the expansive house and grounds, to the life saving pool during one of the hottest weeks on record, we enjoyed every minute. Sabine was wonderful to communicate with. All in all, the best vacation ever.

A charming and unique property , with outstanding views.

The property is in a great location , with much to offer and experience in the surrounding area. The Manor House itself is well equipped and comfortable. The pool area and views are stunning and make this place a absolute gem and the hot air balloons floating by are a real spectacle! The approach and parking is a little tight if you have larger vehicles. Some of the kitchen appliances are a little tired too, but these a minor and hopefully constructive criticisms of a wonderful stay. Thank you Sabine.

Amazing Place in and Amazing Area of France

We had a wonderful time in Beynac at the Manor House. It was very spacious and great for a big group. With multiple levels of patios, lawns, vistas and the pool deck, it is great for groups to have their own alone time if they wish or hang out as a group inside by the fire or by the pool. The view from the property is surreal and with the hot air balloons going overhead, you have to pinch yourself that you are awake. My only constructive comment is the stove is tricky, and we weren't able to master it before our stay ended (this could be more on us then the actual stove though ;) We will visit again. Thank you to Sabine for facilitating us and the owners of the property for the amazing stay.

The "wow" factor is amazing

A four week stay at this amazing manor with family and friends was amazing. All the bedrooms were excellent so no one was "cheated". The great room was truly remarkable. You can walk to everything in Beynac, but beware, everything is quite vertical. The manor sits on the major walking path from the parking to the chateau so be prepared for curious folks poking around for a glimpse of the manor's "royalty". The town was crowded, as expected, but not uncomfortably so. The kitchen had a few quirks, but the manor had lots of stuff to work around any situation. Several guests asked why there were not shots of the entire manor given how stately it is. The property is so vertical (the lowest level being the pool room, then the pool, then up some to a large grass area and up again to the manor which continues up the hill), and trees surround it providing shade that there really is no one place to take such a photo. But be certain. You will be amazed.

Manoir de Beynac is a magical place!

Our stay for two weeks in early June was unforgettable because of the very special experience of staying in what feels like a castle and because of the amazing grounds and setting.  We spent each morning and evening watching balloons rise and travel across the valley.  Our grandchildren swam in the fantastic pool everyday, and the thick stone walls provided a cool retreat from the heat of the afternoon.  The location and grounds of this property are fantastic, providing easy access to many of the area's villages and castles.  On some more practical levels, the beds all have high quality mattresses, the kitchen is very well appointed (even the knives were sharp!), and there were ample and varied outdoor seating options.  Finally, there was Sabine - she was fantastic!  From our arrival with some unexpected street construction, to any needs or questions during our stay, she responded quickly and efficiently.  Florence also provided excellent service.  Our family has rented homes around the world, and en toutes saisons provided the best service I have ever experienced.

An expansive property with outstanding views

Staying here was the best part of our 2-week holiday. Regardless of what wonderful thing we had done during the day, we could hardly wait to get back to sit out on the terrace with its expansive view over the river valley and rooftops. The property is high up, but a narrow back road leads up through the back of the town right to it, where you’ll find a private parking area that easily accommodated our 3 cars. Another jewel is the pool, which appears to be the most recent addition (looks newer) and is beautifully situated one level down from the manor and has its own gorgeous views. We visited in early September 2016 during a serious heatwave and the pool was greatly appreciated. The manor does not have air-conditioning, but the thick stone walls kept it amazingly cool. This is not a fancy place---some furniture and fixtures are older, some doors have trouble fully closing---but it’s still quite atmospheric and comfortable, and the rental price is reasonable for what you get.

The Manor was beautiful and outstanding

The location was beautiful and so restful. The Manor itself had so much character and offered very comfortable accommodations. One of the best places to stay and very close to other sights to see.
