We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sharon springs! The home was gorgeous, very spacious and extremely clean. It was a perfect spot to explore the area, and we will absolutely be returning tothlovely home !lovely home!
Home was very well stocked with anything you could need. Owners were very responsive when contacted with questions. Home was very clean with updated bathrooms and new appliances and washer and dryer and TV. We stayed there a couple nights while visiting Cooperstown.
This is a charming house, with a welcoming front porch and back patio, that is situated in the very small town of Sharon Springs. There was everything we needed for our stay and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Carol and Bob are fabulous hosts--their home is beautiful, well appointed kitchen (we cooked in every night), great central location for a Cooperstown golf game! Loved the front and back porches for relaxing--thank you again for sharing your home!
The house was lovely and over exceeded our needs. The owners were very responsive and offered many helpful ideas for our stay. Everything you could possibly need was provided and we all felt comfortable and welcomed. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for lodging in the area.
Many thanks to the owners!
We had a wonderful stay at The White House on Main. The house is such a great combination of classic charm and modern updated amenities. We only stayed for the weekend, but I could see using the house as a home base for an extended stay in the area. It’s not far from Cooperstown and several state parks. The kitchen is well equipped with updated appliances, pots, pans, and dishes. The backyard has a great seating area with a gas grill. The bathrooms were update and clean, and the upstairs bathroom had a great soaking tub. Beds were comfortable.
Overall, such a great stay and one of the nicer VRBOs we’ve stayed at over the years.
House was immaculate…. Welcome basket with some yummy goodies. Sharon Springs is only 25 min from Cooperstown .. it’s a unique town that used to be bustling in the 1850’s… we loved the quietness of the house. Two full baths helped with 4 of us staying there. Host answered questions quickly. Overall a good experience.. would definitely stay here again
We were in town for our son to play baseball at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The home was about a 35 drive from the park but it was worth the drive. It was exceptionally clean and had everything we could have ever wanted or needed. Other families talked about their “scary/creepy” older rental homes. This home isn’t creepy but rather super charming! I was bragging about it all week.
We went to the MLB Hall of Fame while in town and highly recommend it. We loved driving around Ostego lake.
We stayed in Sharon Springs while attending a baseball tournament in Cooperstown. While it is a 25 minute drive to Cooperstown, it did not feel that far. The drive into Cooperstown is absolutely gorgeous! This house has everything and is extremely comfortable. We felt right at home. The decorations are impeccable and it was extremely clean. We absolutely loved sitting on the porch in the evenings in the rocking chairs. It felt like we were living in a storybook. The owners were incredibly responsive and went above and beyond. We would absolutely stay in this lovely home again.
We had a perfectly lovely vacation, using the WHOM as our base of ops. There is SO much to do within about 1/2 hour's drive, a week was not enough. The house is clean, cheerfully decorated, well-taken care of, well-stocked with paper goods etc., comfortable beds, outstandingly quiet and effective A/C units in each bedroom. It seems like Carol and Bob have thought of everything, and if you don't find something, you probably don't need it! The backyard and front porch are great places to hang out. All furniture is very comfortable. We did not do any grilling, can't speak to the outdoor grill. Mosquitos at night and extremely noisy truck traffic during weekdays are the only negatives we experienced (hence the 4-star rating for neighborhood) and certainly beyond our hosts' control. Sharon Springs is very quiet at night. Local restaurants 204 Main, Sharon Tavern and Brimstone Bakery are fantastic.
Warm, inviting house where it's easy to feel at home and enjoy special times
Coffee on the porch watching the day appear; barbecue out back viewing the gorgeous plants on the hill abutting the patio; laughter and good food around the dinner table. All these memories and more were created in WHOM in three short days. The house is really lovely, the decor is fun and whimsical, everything is outfitted perfectly. Short walks to interesting shops and a couple of restaurants, short drives to interesting historical sites and the baseball hall of fame. Carol and Bob are wonderful hosts at a distance, providing good suggestions for day trips and places to eat. This was a lovely mini-vacation base for three couples who love to explore and then come home to tell stories, break bread and have fun together. Would highly recommend WHOM, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Beautiful vintage country home central to all that upstate has to offer.
My husband and 2 teen daughters booked a last-minute escape from our NYC suburbs to spend a few days upstate in the country. We are frequent day trip visitors to the area so happily spent a few days exploring the area more deeply. From antiquing and thrifting, to fresh produce shopping in Schoharie. To quaint boutiques and shops and wonderful restaurants of Sharon Springs. To Glimmerglass state park, hikes, beach time, a boat tour, Cooperstown, and the Ommegang Brewery, it was a wonderful trip all while staying at the White House on Main as our home base. The house is beyond clean with every comfort and care considered. The front porch and back deck oasis were the scenes of many cups of coffee and glasses of wine. We know we will be frequent visitors from here on.
We stayed at the WHOM for our siblings’ weekend and couldn’t be more satisfied!
The owners are very responsive
The house had EVERYTHING and MORE! So much more well stocked than any other rental any of us have ever stayed in (to name a few: plenty of toilet paper and paper towels; dishwashing soap; napkins, eating and cooking utensils; grill tools; serving dishes; spices; the list goes on and on).
The outdoor areas are so inviting (front porch with two sitting areas; large back deck with table/chairs as well as a sitting area).
The house is older, but very comfy and the kitchen has modern updates throughout.
As I’d typical of older homes Stairs leading upstairs are steep and so might not be appropriate for anyone with mobility challenges.
We didn’t get to sample the menu or get drinks as we’d planned, but the look/vibe of the new Sharon Springs restaurant/bar Fancy Farmer was really inviting!
There’s not a lot in Sharon Springs, but the location is an easy drive to Cooperstown
We HIGHLY recommend this lovely home
We came to Sharon Springs to participate in an event at the Beekman 1802 farm and the White House on Main was the perfect place to stay. Just steps away from the Beekman 1802 Mercantile, restaurants, and shops, this historic property has so much warmth and charm. Carol & Bob were wonderful hosts and have outfitted the home with everything you could need for your stay, regardless of the season. We were welcomed by a lovely gift bag of goodies and a bottle of wine, such a sweet touch. Despite our spring stay, the weather was more wintry than we hoped, but the cozy, remote-controlled fireplace made up for that! My small family of three had enough space to luxuriate in the quiet quaintness of the property, while enjoying the gathering spaces at the large dining room table and the seating on the large covered front porch. I just adored the decor which was artfully curated and reflected a love for the town of Sharon Springs and the upstate New York region. We made a day trip into Cooperstown which is just a short drive from Sharon Springs. I loved our time at WHOM and would totally stay here again in the future! Many thanks to our gracious hosts :)
idyllic retreat in charming town and gorgeous scenery
We visited Sharon Springs with our 4 young children and greatly enjoyed our stay at the White House on Main. Carol was a very attentive, accommodating and gracious host - even remotely. The house is very comfortable, cozy, and well prepared. We enjoyed the historic charm of the house, had never seen such beautiful wide wooden floor boards that don't even creak! The back patio is a serene private oasis to enjoy outdoor breakfast or peek at the amazing starry night sky. Very convenient to pick up pastries or sandwiches at the Black Cat, or score some presents at the various stores in town. The town's faded glory/recent renaissance atmosphere is fascinating. Nearby scenery is overwhelming, we had a beautiful drive alongside Glimmerglass Lake to charming Cooperstown, enjoyed the Schoharie Valley, visited the George Landis Arboretum, the spectacular Bouck's Falls, berry picking at Bohringer's, and simply driving around enjoying the rolling hills and beautiful towns and architecture is relaxing. Plenty of nice swimming spots nearby. Great summer weather. Amazing healthy food available everywhere. It really feels like stepping back in time. We highly recommend the house, the town, and the area.
Spent a relaxing weekend here with my mother and enjoyed every minute. Made use of the patio and the front porch, patio for mornings + early evenings, front porch for nighttime rocking. Carol and Bob have supplied everything you could possible need in this house. We opted for a trip to Cooperstown which did not disappoint. Cruised the lake, visited the Farmers Museum, and grabbed some great poutine at Ommegang. Do yourself a favor and experience this less traveled area of NY state. You won't regret it!
We stayed at this beautiful home for a long weekend. Every last detail was taken care of by Carol and Bob to help us enjoy our stay. The house is not only stunning, it sits on Main Street in Sharon Springs which allowed us to walk to restaurants and shops. We enjoyed two great meals at the 204 Main Bar and Bistro and a delicious brunch at the historic American Hotel in town. When we weren't out touring, we enjoyed sitting on the front porch and the gorgeous back desk where we just relaxed. There are lots of things to do in the area. Cooperstown is a short ride so we went to the Baseball Hall of Fame and took a boat cruise on Glimmerglass Lake. At the end of our day in Cooperstown we had drinks at the Fire Bar at the back of the Otesaga Resort and the view was magnificent. The following day we went to Hyde Hall and had an informative tour and stopped at a great brewery in Cherry Valley called the Red Shed. We wish we could have stayed longer!
This was a great spot to go to Cooperstown or Howe Caverns. The town of Sharon Springs is lovely.
The White House is super-cozy! It has a comfy living room with fireplace, kitchen with all pots, pans, spices & so on. Carol even left. A welcome gift bag! The town has quaint shops & restaurants with good food. The home is clean, the porch & deck are great. Lovely stay, lovely town, great hosts.
We loved out stay in The White House (6 adults). We particularly enjoyed the front porch and back patio. The patio is so cozy and comfortable. We wanted to extend our stay! Sharon Springs is a very interesting town with its old hotels and guest houses, once used to house New York City guests utilizing its healing mineral spas. The shops and cafes were very enjoyable. Cooperstown and the Baseball Hall of Fame are approximately a half hour away. There is also a beautiful golf course and lake in Cooperstown as well as the Farmer's Museum. I highly recommend this rental for an relaxing adult get away!
The house was extremely charming with lots of little touches that enhanced our experience. Kitchen was well equipped, everything was immaculate, and the beds were comfortable. Sharon Springs was a real surprise with lots of history and high quality restaurants.
We loved our stay at the White House on Main! Communication with Carol was easy, the house is clean, lovely and warm, and we were in the perfect spot for a nearby family gathering. On a beautiful morning we just loved coffee on the porch, taking in the sun! Easy walk to fun shops and little "downtown."

A Five-Star Stay!
My adult daughter and I had a fabulous time at the White House on Main in Sharon Springs. The house is wonderful -- clean, welcoming, with everything you would ever need. The location was perfect, as we walked to dinner two nights, to the shops, and for a spa treatment. One of the most relaxing few days we have ever had. While there, we did a Beekman farm tour/meet the baby goats. Everything was great; thank you!

About the host
Hosted by Robert and Carol Klotz
We are long distance hosts from NJ. We fell in love with Sharon Springs when we visited in 2007 and kept coming back. We wanted to keep coming back and felt owning a vacation home and making it available for others was the perfect way to keep exploring the area.
Why they chose this property
The village of Sharon Springs has an extensive history. Be sure to visit the Historical building on Main Street and read all of the road markers around town. It was a bustling summer spa town destination that attracted the likes of Oscar Wilde and is currently in another phase of resurgence.
What makes this property unique
WHOM is a very comfortable home with a very short walk to all that people love and come for when visiting Sharon Springs. It is also near Cooperstown for any baseball, brewery and Glimmerglass enthusiasts.
