The location, cleanliness, and communication were all excellent. It was a cozy place to stay and we will keep this on our list of places when we go again!
You cannot get much closer to the wild surf than at Kona Surf. The pool and BarBQ area are a special feature. The condo has everything you'll need for a good time in Kailua Kona Town. The hosts are most accommodating as well.
My husband and I had an amazing time during our stay everything was easy to access, very well cleaned, and the location of the rental was perfect!
we loved the home like feeling coming back after adventuring for the day, would visit again in the future.
A perfect Hawaiian getaway, with the perfect home base
Property was clean, well equipped with everything we could have wanted. (Kitchen was superb, towels, toiletries, snorkel gear, coolers). It was perfect location, perfect in size for a two person stay. 10/10 would book again on my next big island trip!
A great, cosy place to stay. It was quiet yet still close to town, you can easily walk everywhere or use the rental bikes on Alii drive or the shuttle service. Kitchen was stocked with lots of appliances which we loved and the pool area was amazing for a swim and to watch the sunset. Thanks for having us!
Great Oceanside Pool and comfortable bed with nice lanai and kitchen.
Close to a local convenience store and walking paths.
Laundry on site is very convenient.
Just outside of Kona Village but walkable distance. Beautiful property with all the accommodations you may need. Superb patio area facing west for those unbeatable sunsets 🌅. Nice pool overlooking the ocean; no (sand) beach bordering the lot however - lava rocks only (this is Big Island).
We enjoyed our time at Kona Shores. The unit is cosy and well stocked with dishes , spices and condiments. There was a small issue with a noise from condos water heater but no issues with water itself. Owners are great to deal with .
I needed a last minute short term rental in Kona and was lucky enough to find this property. It was exactly as described, very nice quiet location. Very clean and tidy, A/C and plenty of hot water, even a kettle and as a tea drinking Brit that’s a huge bonus. Check in was easy and the owner’s communication was very quick and helpful. Thank you
Positive:
1) Bed
2) A/C
3) Generous amounts of towels & bedding
4) Swimming pool area
5) Kitchen island
6) Nice shower head
7) Plentiful closet hangers
8) Well-appointed bathroom
9) Convenient parking
Not so positive:
1) Lack of chairs
2) Cluttered kitchen cabinets & drawers
4) Cluttered lanai
5) Dirty floors - bare feet bottoms turned black
6) Lockbox closure difficult - too many keys for such a small lockbox
Arriving at the property had us a bit worried as the condo complex is on the main street going into Kona Village and the condo is a corner unit on the first floor. But we were pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was. The unit is small but very functional: The kitchen is well stocked with basic cooking supplies; the bed very comfortable; ample bathroom supplies; and beach gear, including snorkeling and boogie board. The pool is lovely overlooking the ocean. From the patio, you can see the ocean and get a view of the sunset. The owners gave good entry directions and were quick to respond. We recommend this property.

My Husband and I stayed at this condo for our wedding anniversary. It was in a great location!! About 15 minute walk to downtown Kailua-Kona and two little markets near by. The condo was a good size for the two of us and the host was very accommodating! They even had coolers and boogie boards that we could use when we took a trip to the beach. Very nice to have!
I rated the cleanliness portion a 4 due to just a few things. The floors were very dirty when we arrived and the dishes and fridge were dirty as well. We were able to clean each dish we wanted to use and we did a quick mop to the floors so it wasn’t a huge deal. There is not a dishwasher in this condo so that could’ve been the reason for dirty dishes.
Overall, I would recommend this stay to friends and family! We had a wonderful time and the host had great communication with us.

Kona shores stay November 2022
The condo was nice, the value for the cost was good, had a fully equipped kitchen with condiments and basic spices in the kitchen which was a bonus. Additional seating in the living room such as an upholstered chair or loveseat would be nice, only a hideabed/couch was not enough seating and not that comfortable. The only other seating was a high kitchen stool. The lanai was ok, looked over a high hedge over the parking lot. The pool area was wonderful, overlooking the ocean. There was only one briquette bbq in the common area near the pool which was disappointing. Not easy to bbq, had to bring your own briquettes and starter. No one used it in the entire stay we were there. The complex has gas, gas barbecues would be much easier. The owners were great to deal with, arranged for us to get new beach chairs as there was only one broken one, and they provided good information on the area. The walk to town was further than we expected, 20 plus minutes, but the free trolley was great, but be warned it is often full when cruise ships were in port. There is no other bus service on Ali’i Drive, only the trolley. One an hour. Overall we were very happy with our stay here.

DISAPPOINTED- AC is controlled by owners in the mainland
I prefer to stay in a vacation rental over a hotel for many reasons, most particularly to patronize a local family or small business over large corporation. Air Conditioning is necessary for me, due to health conditions. We got this unit because it said it had an AC. To our surprise, the AC is set at 72 degrees and you cannot change it to a cooler temperature. We contacted the owners who said they have the remote With them in the mainland and then proceeded to say that temperature was set by the person who installed it a year ago and was good enough for everyone else. It was muggy, humid and uncomfortable for us. And the owners in communication were rude and furthermore lacked transparency in their listing about the SET air temperatures at 72 degrees. If you are going to be a host for your vacation rental, perhaps allow your PAID guests the ability to choose their own air temperature or maybe inform them ahead of renting that the air temperature is controlled? It’s embarrassing that the owners would take their AC remote home with them to the mainland…WHY?!? This speaks measures about their value of the comfort of their guests. I will never rent this place again and will take my money elsewhere and would advise anyone else who values air conditioning in a hot and humid tropical setting to do the same.
The condo was comfortable and in a good location along Ali’i drive. The area was pretty quiet and the condo was a good size for two people. The A/C was very limited and the wifi was a bit spotty at times, but overall a good place to stay if you plan to stay in Kona.
We were so pleased to find this place in Kona central location to all the stores, restaurants! Condo was ready to go when we go there! Super clean and organized! This place well equipped of stuffs , especially kitchens for cooking ,and towels etc. Thank you so much letting us stay comfortable & safe place.
