The 5 star rated Majella Garden is a private self catering garden level apartment, designed using the original building and exposing the beautiful exterior stone. Old world meets new in this lovely accommodation in the heart of the Majella mountain range.

Rapino is perfectly situated between the ski resorts of Passo Lanciano/Mamma Rosa and the nearby beaches of Francavilla Al Mare, San Vito, Ortona Marina and others. Within walking distance you will find restaurants, bars and several grocery stores to provide all your needs.
The apartment consists of a living/dining room with fully equipped custom built kitchen, the holiday chef will find everything to cook a lovely meal using all the wonderful local ingredients. Dining table and 4 chairs overlooking the large rear garden and a comfortable double sofa to relax and enjoy TV or movies. WiFi is available at no additional cost.
The separate bedroom has a queen size bed, plenty of storage space and an en suite bathroom. There is a washing machine and clothing airer for your personal use.
Outside there is a large garden that I encourage my guests to enjoy; patio furniture is provided. "The roof top terrace offers wonderful views of the mountains and is a great place to enjoy an evening drink as the sun goes down or perhaps a relaxing day sunbathing or just reading.
Off road parking is available.
'Winter information' - the apartment has gas central heating from radiators in all rooms including the bathroom. Plenty of storage space to dry ski/snowboarding equipment and a triple option shower including massage jets, rain shower and handheld hose.
Please note that the bathroom is accessed through the bedroom.

Excellent accommodation in a lovely area
We finally managed to get to stay almost three years after first booking, but it was well worth the wait. Jacquie's communication throughout all the changes due to COVID and then for making final arrangements was excellent. We were greeted on arrival, shown round the property with an explanation of how everything worked and had a nice welcoming gift chilling in the fridge! Rapino is a quiet town but has a very good restaurant two minutes walk from the property as well as local shops to buy pastries and essentials. Supermarkets are only a short drive away. There is plenty to do and see in the local area in the mountains or on the beach. Jacquie is an attentive host full of local knowledge and made suggestions on places to go and things to do that aren't in the guidebooks. If you want to have a relaxing holiday away from the crowds in a lesser known part of Italy then we can't speak highly enough of Jacquie's property.

FABULEUX
Nous avons passé un séjour magnifique (appartement fabuleux (complet-propre)et sécurisé, un grand merci à Jacquie qui est très très gentille -serviable de plus l'appartement est proche des centres touristiques comme FARA SAN MARTINO (fabuleux) ville de GUADIAGRELE ET VILLAGE DE PRETORO etc... il y a de très bon restos comme il Vignale proche de l'appartement il y a la pizzeria papi à l'entrée du village c'est une location où il ne faut pas hésiter encore merci à Jacquie qui nous laisse un merveilleux souvenir (nous reviendrons) roxane et sergio

Een tuin in de Abruzzen
Wij hebben erg genoten van ons verblijf in Rapino. Het appartement was op de begane grond, ruim met een grote woonkamer annex keuken, een grote slaapkamer met prima tweepersoonsbed, en een mooie badkamer. De keuken was goed geoutilleerd, alles functioneerde zonder haperen, koken ging uitstekend. Achter het huis een fijne tuin om in te relaxen in gerieflijke tuinstoelen. De gastvrouw was aardig, stelde zich op de hoogte van onze wensen zonder zich op te dringen en bracht steeds een aardigheidje mee, zoals een flesje wijn, tomaten uit eigen tuin e.d. Aanbevelenswaardig!

Urlaub im Paradis
Wir hatten fantastische zweieinhalb Wochen Urlaub in Rapino! Das Apartment ist hervorragend ausgestattet, in der Küche mangelt es an gar nichts, die Terasse direkt vor der Tür eignet sich perfekt zum geniessen, sei es beim Frühstück, bei einem gekühlten Glas Wein oder beim Grillen abends! Jacquie ist eine fantastische Gastgeberin, sie hat uns am ersten Abend mit Wein, Bier, Wasser und ein paar Lebensmittel - wobei der Espresso ausdrücklich erwähnt werden muss - erwartet. Zusätzlich hat man eine riesige Dachterasse und einen tollen Garten zur Verfügung - einfach toll! Rapino selber ist ein sehr schöner Ort - mitten in den Abruzzen gelegen. Eine perfekte Ausgangslage für alle möglichen Unternehmungen. Sei es ein Strandausflug oder Wanderungen in den Bergen oder einfach ein kleiner Trip in die nächsten Orte/Dörfer! Wir haben uns sehr willkommen gefühlt, er war einfach perfekt! Vielen lieben Dank Jacquie, wir hatten fantastische Ferien!!! We had a fantastic two and a half weeks vacation in Rapino! The apartment is well equipped, in the kitchen lacks nothing at all, the terrace right outside the door is perfect to enjoy, be it at breakfast, with a glass of cold wine or barbecue in the evening! Jacquie is a fantastic host, she was waiting for us on the first evening with wine, beer, water and some food - with express mention of espresso. In addition, you have a huge roof terrace and a great garden available - just fantastic! Rapino itself is a very beautiful place - located in the middle of Abruzzo. A perfect starting point for all trips you want. A beach trip or hikes in the mountains or just a short trip to the next villages! We felt very welcome, it was just perfect! Thanks a lot Jacquie, we had fantastic holidays !!!

Relaxing base for a tour of a less travelled area.
Very much enjoyed our stay in Rapino. Jacquie is a great host, met us on arrival and was always available for tips or a cheery hello. The property is just as advertised and very new and clean feeling. The garden is large and has a nice mixture of shade and sun. Our favourite local spot was walking on the Blockhaus hills - the air up there is cool and the walking is awesome.

Tolles Ferienappartement mit Blick auf die Berge der Maiella
Wir haben neun schöne Tage in dieser Ferienwohnung verbracht und uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Wohnung ist sehr schön, geräumig und sauber - genauso wie auf den Fotos gezeigt! Trotz des durchwachsenen Wetters konnten wir den Garten genießen. Jacquie ist eine tolle Gastgeberin und war immer sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Rapino ist ein kleines, nettes Dorf mit einigen Möglichkeiten Essen zu gehen. Es ist gut gelegen und man kommt mit Mietwagen rasch zu allen möglichen Ausflugszielen. Uns hat es an nichts gefehlt und wir würden definitiv wiederkommen!

fantasitc time !! wonderful property
The guest apartment is very clean, well appointed and spacious. we had great interactions from our host Jackie. she gave us valuable information to help make our trip smoother. The apartment was cleaned more often then I had excepted and that was a extra added bonus. The location is right in the heart of the Majella with many activities and festivals . The area is very easy to navigate and drive finding many areas of interest close by. there are also many places to eat and drink within walking distance. we meet many locals while attending the summer festivities . we will be back again. thank you for your gracious hospitability Sharon and Vic

Immaculate, well equipped apartment with a fabulous host
Jacqui is a very welcoming and thoughtful host. Her apartment is well equipped and immaculately kept. There was fresh coffee, filled croissants, biscuits, bottled water and a bottle of Montepulciano wine waiting for us. We stayed in wet and cold weather and the apartment was well heated and cosy. There is a paved area and roof terrace that we could’ve used if the weather was better and is no doubt fantastic in the Summer. There are restaurants and a large supermarket within a short distance of the apartment and the beach at Francavilla al Mare or the Maiella Mountains is about 30 minutes drive in opposing directions. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastische dagen gehad!
Wij zijn een kleine week in het appartement van Jacquie geweest. We zijn warm ontvangen met wijn, toastjes en drinken in de koelkast. Het appartement was heel schoon, ruime slaapkamer, fijne badkamer/douche en alles wat je nodig hebt, was aanwezig! We mochten gebruik maken van zowel de tuin als haar dakterras. Overdag zaten we lekker in de schaduw in de tuin en 's avonds genoten wij op het dakterras van het uitzicht en de heldere sterrenhemel. Vlakbij zit restaurant il Vignale waar wij heerlijk gegeten hebben. In het dorp zelf zitten allerlei winkeltjes, restaurants en terrasjes en de mensen daar zijn lieve, behulpzame mensen. Een auto is daar wel een must als je meer wilt zien van de omgeving. Kortom, wij hebben genoten!

Idyllic getaway
A beautiful & well appointed apartment annex attached to owners property but quite private. Theres good attention to detail in provision of kitchen equipment/lighting/storage & washing facilities. Jacquie is a friendly & gracious host who makes herself available if needed & has a wealth of local info, but allows her guests space if they want that. Local restaurant, pizzeria, wine bar, bakery all gorgeous. Friendly small Italian mountain village location with super views from the terrace. Highly recommended.

Een zeer fijne accommodatie in mooi Abruzzo!
Wij (echtpaar rond 60) hebben in dit appartement twee en een halve week doorgebracht. Het appartement is heel comfortabel. Een grote slaapkamer met een groot bed. Badkamer met prima douche en wasmachine. Keukenblok met alles er op en er aan in de ruime huiskamer. Een hele grote tuin. Je kunt zowel in de zon als in de schaduw zitten.(ook boven het terras) De auto kan op het eigen terrein staan. De gastvrouw Jaquie is heel vriendelijk en altijd bereid om tips te geven. Er was ook gezorgd voor wat basisbehoeften, zoals melk, brood, koffie etc. De omgeving is heel rustig. We kunnen dit appartement en de Abruzzen van harte aanbevelen. Enkele bezienswaardigheden die wij hebben bezocht: passo Lanciano, Sulmona (lekkere confetti) Eremo Santo Spirito a Majella. Guardiagrele (daar is supermarkt Conad), Chieti. Clemente in Castiglione a Casauria. Naar het strand is een klein half uurtje rijden. We hebben gegeten bij La Vignale(vinden wij een aanrader)ook bottega bevitoria agricoala en Papi. (Pizzeria) zijn prima eetgelegenheden. Il Tiglio was matig, Garden kunnen wij niet aanraden. Wel alles op loopafstand In Rapino zijn voldoende voorzieningen om boodschappen te kunnen doen. Dit appartement is echt een aanrader! Jaquie nogmaals bedankt voor je gastvrijheid.

Three weeks in heaven.
We just returned from 3 weeks at the Majella Garden apartment and already miss it. You could not ask for a more beautiful place to spend your time after exploring the countryside every day. Get a glass of wine and sit out back , with the mountains and sounds of animals. There are plenty of towns to visit in the countryside or beach towns and of course the national parks. There are good restaurants within walking distance or short drive from the apartment, or you can cook your own meals. The apartment has everything you need, is very comfortable and of course Jacquie is a wonderful host. She was very helpful when we needed to plan a few trips and knows the area well.

Nice holiday home
We stayed for a week in this holiday house during the 2nd week of Sept '17). It has been mentioned already in several reviews: it has everything you would like to see when entering such a venue. A nice bedroom, with a good (though hard/firm) bed. A kitchen, a good living area and not to forget a great garden with a terrace. You can even make use of the roof-terrace, though we didn't do that. There's no airco, but a fan in the bedroom is present and you may open the windows at night. Bugs etc will stay out, since there are insect screen doors for all windows!! The hosts are most gentile, they've created a quite complete booklet with all kinds of tips for exploring the environment (hiking trips, trips by car, nice cities etc etc). Jacquie and Steven really do their utmost to make you feel at home. The Rapino town has about 5 restaurants, we tried 2 of them, ie The Garden (OK, but hardly any atmosphere) and Il Vignale (OK, but very few guests). The Abruzzen is great! The scenery is amazing, that includes the nearby Majella park, but also the Gran Sasso area is fantastic. One can also visit the coastal area, which is a drive of 30 minutes. The area is surely not flooded by tourists, though it depends a bit where you are of course. Please note that the Abruzzen area was hit several times by earthquakes, just as other parts of Italy. You might notice in some cities(not in Rapino) that there's still restoration work ongoing. Rapino itself, we found a bit too quiet, but it's just where you're looking for. But don't expect a vivid little town, it's peaceful with some restaurants and shops and that's it. There a small grocery shop nearby, which do sell fresh bread in the morning! It's a 10 minutes walk (one-way)! Enjoy the stay!

Perfect setting for a romantic retreat. Friendly, helpful and unobtrusive hosts. Stunning location.
Thoroughly recommend a stay with Jacquie and Steve at their beautiful Abruzzo home. The apartment is immaculate, well-equipped and spotlessly clean, uncluttered yet homely. You can expect a warm welcome, snacks on arrival, excellent excursion advice and accurate directions to the property. The location is perfect for walks, restaurants, trips to the beach just 30 mins away and/or ventures up to the nearby mountains (through which the tap water comes naturally filtered and delicious). If you like the idea of waking to the sound of chickens, goat bells and an occasional donkey.. fresh Italian coffee.. and lazing on a hammock between two trees in a country garden with a good book.. or enjoying the stunning views from a roof terrace in the evening sun, then this is the place for you! Thank you Jacquie and Steve for being such kind and generous hosts. We definitely hope to return next year.

Idyllic!
We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Majella Garden. The apartment is at once spacious and cosy, the view of the mountains is breathtaking, and the garden is absolutely idyllic in the sun. It's an easy drive to the high peaks, and even less in the opposite direction to beautiful sandy beaches on the Adriatic. Jacquie and Steve are wonderful hosts; friendly, helpful, and informative without ever being obtrusive. Rapino has a great range of excellent, very reasonably-priced eating and drinking options for a small town, and the apartment is a short, pleasant walk from its centre. Abruzzo is a marvellous area for a holiday; ideal for beach-goers, ideal for activities in the mountains and the national park. Not overdeveloped for tourism, so everything's very keenly priced. Absolutely recommended, without reservation (save that you'll really need a car).

Heerlijk luxe huisje met alles wat je kunt wensen.
Jacquie en Steven ontvangen je met een koelkast vol lekkers. Ze geven je graag tips over het dorp en over al het moois dat in de omgeving te zien is. Het strand is maar een klein halfuur rijden en zelfs in augustus is het er niet te druk. Rapino is een klein dorpje waar je op loopafstand van alles vindt: een paar kruideniertjes, een bakker, enkele bars en restaurants. En zelfs een prima wijnbar. Het is heerlijk om in de grote tuin te luieren en te eten. Wij hebben een heerlijke tijd gehad in Majella Garden. Jacquie en Steven, bedankt!

Prettig appartement/huis in rural Italy
Het was een prettig appartement, met goede bedden, uitstekend sanitair, een naar behoren werkende keuken en fijne stoelen. Buiten zitten was aangenaam en uitgebreid mogelijk (er waren voldoende stoelen en zelfs een bbq). Voldoende zon- en schaduwplekken. Kortom, prima in orde!

einfach nur schön! - Wonderful!
Very nice hosts, a very nice and well equipped apartment - we enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you, Jacquie and Stephen! - Es passte einfach. Die Wohnung ist für zwei Personen perfekt, sie hat alles, was man sich wünschen kann. Wir fühlten uns so wohl, dass wir oft abends lieber auf unserer Terrasse bei einem einfachen Mahl sitzen blieben als noch essen zu gehen. Tagsüber waren wir wandern oder die Gegend besichtigen. Tipps unserer überaus liebenswerten Gastgeber halfen uns dabei, besonders schöne Ziele für Wanderungen oder Ausflüge zu finden, einen schönen Markt zu besuchen oder etwas besonderes zu besichtigen. Die zwei Wochen waren im Flug um, wir kommen gerne wieder!

Superfijne vakantie in de Abruzzen!
We zijn net terug van een heerlijke vakantie in het kleine dorpje Rapino dat aan de rand van het Majella gebergte ligt! We werden hartelijk ontvangen door Jaqcuie en Steven, de eigenaars van het mooie huis waar we twee weken zullen verblijven! Het huis is werkelijk fantastisch en is zeer compleet! Het heeft alles wat je nodig hebt! Heel fijn was het dat we na aankomst niet direkt naar de winkel moesten voor boodschappen maar Jaqcuie had voor ons de koelkast gevuld, koud water, wijn en bier, voor het ontbijt koffie en croissants, overal had ze aan gedacht, klasse! Maar ook in de dagen daarna kwam ze regelmatig wat lekkers brengen, fruit en groente etc. Bovendien heeft ze na een week zelfs onze bedden verschoond en het huis schoongemaakt! Verder attendeerde zij ons op allerlei aktiviteiten en gaf ons tips die wij ons ter harte namen! Ook Steven vertelde ons over de omgeving en gaf ons zijn eigen wandelkaart mee. Want in de Abruzzen zijn er veel wandelgebieden, prachtig! Eerder waren we bij de Grande Sasso, ook een erg mooi gebied en nu in de Majella. Om te wandelen echter was het eigenlijk te warm, toch hebben we er drie, maar niet zo'n lange wandelingen gemaakt! Ook de vele authentieke dorpjes zijn zeer de moeite waard om te bezoeken, ik noem er een paar..Scanno, Sulmona, Bucchianico, Lanciano en nog veel meer! Er zijn mooie ( groene ) routes om daar te komen. Verder natuurlijk de prachtige stranden waar het niet te druk was! De keuken in het huis is zeker compleet genoeg om zelf te koken maar in Rapino zijn een paar restaurants + pizzeria waar je lekker kunt eten! Kortom..een vakantie om niet te vergeten, mede door de gastvrijheid en de vriendelijke mensen, Jaqcuie en Steven! Bedankt!

Urlaub in Abruzzen
Wir hatten die Wohnung in Rapino im August gemietet. Urlaub in der Hochsaison in Italien? Eigentlich nicht so ratsam! Aber in diesem ruhigen Haus in dieser Gegend absolut empfehlenswert!!! Rapino ist ein authentisches italienisches Dorf mit freundlichen Bewohnern. Aber Lage und Umgebung sind nichts für Leute, die groß Action suchen, sondern eher für diejenigen, die Beschaulichkeit und Schönheit kleinerer italienischer Dörfer und Städte zu schätzen wissen. Für alle die Ruhe und Entspannung suchen, ist dieses Haus genau richtig. Für jeden, den zu viel Ruhe unruhig macht sind genügend lohnende Ausflugsziele ringsum zu finden. Es ist nur ein kurzer Weg ins Gebirge. Zudem ist der Weg zum Meer nicht weit, wo wir Strände fanden, die auch im August nicht überfüllt waren. Weinliebhaber finden im näheren Umkreis Weingüter und Cantinas, bei denen sich der Urlaubsbedarf prima decken lässt. Sehr zuvorkommend war die Beratung und spontane Führung durch Fattoria Buccicatino in Vacri. Die Wohnung bietet alles, was man für den Urlaub braucht. Bei der Ausstattung fehlt es an nichts. Wir haben alles sehr gepflegt und sehr sauber vorgefunden. Es war genauso, wie es beschrieben wurde oder auf den Bildern zu sehen ist. In der Hausmappe vor Ort fanden wir reichlich Informationen. Der Kontakt zu den Vermietern war sehr freundlich und hat den Aufenthalt besonders angenehm gemacht. Die Tipps für Ausflüge und die Empfehlungen, wo man gut isst, wurden von uns wir sehr geschätzt. Aus unserer Sicht ist diese Ferienwohnung wirklich empfehlenswert.

Peaceful and Perfect for Adventure
We were so pleased with our stay in Rapino and the wonderful Majella Garden Apartment that Jacquie and Steve have created. The apartment had everything one needs to be at home while traveling plus extra care for the decor and a supper shower. This area of Abruzzo has so many hidden beauties all reachable by car. Rapino has restaurants and groceries stores close by and the residents of the area are very welcoming to the traveler. The location is close to many outstanding National Parks, hidden gems of quaint towns perched high on ridges and mountain sides as well as beautiful stretches of beaches. They are all reachable in less than an hours drive through beautiful country roads from Majella Garden. We highly recommend a stay at the Majella Garden and we hope to return that way again. Jacquie and Steve were wonderful host, providing help and knowledge to make our stay a great 10 days. Thanks to both of them. Judy and Joe

Neat, tidy and fresh-looking!
As we already knew from last year the flat suits us very well. It is nice and proper and has good space enough for two persons. The kitchen is well equipped, in the bedroom you have lots of possibilities to store your stuff and the beds are really nice. The bathroom doesn't leave anymore to wish. Everything is very good and the shower is super. Outside you find a beautiful garden with a nice breakfast spot and also a cosy part for sunbathing and reading. The place is perfect for those who want both mountains and sea and the hosts have an umbrella and sun chairs on a nice beach to let for their guests. Shops are near for buying breakfast bread and other things. In Rapino we can really recommend two restaurants: Il Viagnale, which offers, among other specialities, a wonderful lamb dish and the pizzeria Il Papi. The two brothers in the last mentioned serves a lovely liquorizia. The owners provided a very good customer service, were helpful and anxious to make the stay for their guests a fine memory. We really recommend this place!

Originally from England I spent 14 years living in Alberta, Canada in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Now my home is in Rapino, a rural and traditional town perfectly situated between the mountains and the Adriatic sea.
Jacquie has worked in the hospitality industry for many years and for the past few years has been involved in the wine business. After years in high quality hotels your comfort at the Majella Garden is her priority. She is also happy to discuss the wines available locally.

Why they chose this property

After looking and exploring all the regions of Italy I found myself drawn to the central area of Abruzzo. Researching the lifestyles, climate and location to the sea and the mountains Rapino was an easy choice. I enjoy winter and summer activities and therefore being so close to Mamma Rosa and Passo Lanciano skiing and snowboarding is a simple day trip. The lovely beaches along the Adriatic coastline provides me with summer leisure of which I hope to share with my guests.
The property is quite different for a mountain village, I am fortunate to have a fairly flat 'lot' therefore the garden has plenty of room for us to develop plants, vegetables, trees and there still be space to lounge under the walnut trees!
My home consists of a 2 storey house, just the right amount of space for myself and visiting family and friends. Attached at the rear of the house is the brand new self contained holiday apartment. Developed from scratch, no expense has been spared with the interior furnishings and decor.
The moment I entered the house I knew I had found the exact property for my future plans.

What makes this property unique

The roof top terrace has great south facing views of the Majella Mountains and in particular Mamma Rosa. The terrace has been refurbished with lovely Italian tiles and hand crafted iron railings with stairs leading down to the garden giving our guests in the apartment access. It is within easy walking distance of grocery stores, bars and restaurants and there are plenty of walks and cycling opportunities directly from the house, no need to drive anywhere.
The Adriatic coastline is long and has many beaches, some free some having facilities so therefore a daily or weekly rate is charged. The sea is lovely and even early in the season the water is not too cold!
Equally close are the ski areas, Passo Lanciano and Mamma Rosa; on the way you will pass the wolf sanctuary and this is definitely worth a stop.
I do recommend a car unless you are planning your stay in Rapino with no day trips, there are buses but not very frequent and limited destinations.
For my guests staying in the cooler months the apartment has full gas central heating and if the sun is limited and the solar panels are not in full force then there is always hot water available from the mains gas.
