About this property

Timber Valley Cabin Off grid secluded hideaway, about an hour from Denver

Timber Valley Cabin is a cozy and charming cabin that rests at the end of a private 2 mile long meandering driveway.
It's located on an old gold mining claim from the 1930's and is totally surrounded by the Pike National Forest.

The off grid 2bedroom 1bathroom wooden cabin has a covered porch on 2 sides with rocking chairs for your relaxation. From there you can view the valley, listen to birds and the breeze flowing through the forest on the mountain.
The serenity here makes it a perfect spot for artists, photographers and birdwatchers, or just catch up on some reading.

A short hike down the valley will get you to the North Fork of the South Platte river. This is an excellent spot for fly fishing and picnicing. It also has amazing opportunities for pictures.

Stay here to relax and enjoy the quiet, or head out for hikes and mountain biking.
It's 4 miles to Buffalo Creek trail system and you can mountain bike from the cabin there and back.

Come prepared to stay since you probably won't want to leave, that's how we
felt and we're still here. (we live on the property in a separate building)

High clearance vehicles are highly recomended for easy access.

perfect place to get away
This was exactly what my wife needed and was looking for. A beautiful remote cabin in the mountains, great hiking trails right there, centrally located for day trips. We will stay here again. 4X4 is best transportation year round. Bob and Catherine were wonderful hosts.

Quiet & Cozy
While our stay wasn’t long, we enjoyed our time at the Pine cabin! Accessibility is tough, so you’ll definitely want a high clearance vehicle, but the property owners were very helpful and great communicators. The cabin was clean & cozy. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a secluded getaway.

So quiet and peaceful!
This is a wonderfully quiet, secluded property. Gives you the full experience of being in the mountains. The cabin is one of the nicest I've stayed in and the beds were comfortable. The only minor challenge is the drive in - but hey it's the mountains a few bumpy roads, in the back woods are to be expected. You won't be disappointed with the comforts of this place.

Polished, rustic little corner of heaven...
We were looking for a quiet, off the beaten track cabin to unwind and we couldn't have found anything better. While the photos give you a good idea, the cabin is MUCH nicer than we thought. The interior is beautifully restored without compromising the rustic charm of the place. Catherine and her husband Bob really put their heart and soul into the place and it shows. Everything you could ever want in a kitchen, comfortable furnishings throughout, super comfy bed (s) and a bathroom that looks like a 4 star suite...deep in the beautiful Timber Valley. The hike to the Platte River is a beautiful, reasonable trek, and they are working to improve the trail markings. There are several quiet, unique spots to sit and enjoy the property, and wildlife abounds. Bob and Catherine are caring, attentive hosts, while never imposing; and they'll happily give you all the information you need to make your stay perfect for you. As a side note, we were originally turned down for the booking as they were finishing up some last minute details but after a few messages, we were able to arrange the stay. I can't say enough about how kind, responsive and accommodating Bob and Catherine were throughout the process. While they are new to the Vrbo world, I'm sure their genuine concern for their guests' satisfaction will ensure a long, successful tenure as hosts. I would sincerely recommend that you make the effort to share this little corner of Colorado heaven...it's a beautiful place, hosted by genuinely good folks. Thank you Catherine and Bob....we will definitely be back!

Amazing getaway from the city!
I booked this for one night for my girlfriends birthday and couldn’t be happier. Extremely nice hosts and definitely remote. Luckily I opted for taking my truck as the last mile and a half you really need a high clearance vehicle/4x4. Cabin was amazingly clean and actually very well stocked with most all necessities. Will definitely be booking this again.

The best cabin in the national forest
We absolutely loved this cabin. It is a little slice of deep woods paradise. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and their dog timber was just so cute. We were so happy we spent our anniversary here. It is nestled deep within national forest. Trust me, when you get on the access road to the cabin and you feel like you may have missed it, keep going, you’ll run right into it. You won’t regret staying at this cabin. Thanks Catherine and Bob, we’ll be back.

Great mountain getaway
Catherine and Bob are wonderful hosts. Their cabin is tucked away in a beautiful setting for easy access to hiking, biking, fishing and relaxation. The cabin was clean, quaint and had everything we needed, including kitchen supplies and some extra staples Catherine had on hand just for us. Catherine and Bob do stay on the property and were available as needed for questions. We really enjoyed our getaway at Timber Mountain cabin.

Perfect Off-the-Beaten-Path
First of all, the drive to the property was beautiful. The river and ranch along 68 offered some huge elk to see along our drive in. The road is increasingly smaller and more adventurous, especially the driveway. Definitely have a vehicle to clear the narrow, tricky driveway to the cabin! It is totally worth it once you get to your home away from home! Bob and Catherine greeted us upon our arrival, provided extra hospitality and information about hiking the area, and awareness of bears and mountain lions, which was very helpful to me as I hadn't experienced this level of hike before! The cabin is cozy and comfortable in every way. We slept very well with the windows open and a very comfortable bed. Even the kitchen was stocked with coffee, creamer, some eggs, etc. which we were offered to help ourselves as needed. For the next morning, we were given a specific goal to find a certain landmark while on our hike to the river, which made the hike rather fun and wasn't all too difficult, which I appreciated. Timber, their sweet dog, came with for a part of the hike and visited us out on the porch occasionally. We didn't mind and rather enjoyed our time with him. We were on a mission to "road trip" through as much of Colorado as we could in 3 days though as well, and Bob & Catherine were very much accommodating to that. We were free to come and go as we wished. Our only regret in this amazing adventure was that we didn't have one more day to just hang out at the cabin and enjoy this beautiful place. We will definitely come back if we can!! It was the perfect off-the-beaten-path place to stay!! Thank you Bob & Catherine!! You made our trip absolutely perfect! Dan & Jena

Timber Valley Off Grid Cabin
I rented this cabin so my wife and our two teenagers could get away and unplug. We really enjoyed our stay. Our goal was for nature, outdoors and family time. The cabin was great, and so was the hiking. If you want to rent this cabin there are some things I would stress so you are prepared. First, as the owner states, a high clearance vehicle is a great idea for the long driveway. Second, I would look at Google Earth or some other map prior to driving out. My phone GPS was going to take us to the wrong place. Third, there is no grocery store in town so come prepared. The cabin itself has all the cooking, baking and coffee-making equipment you would need. Lastly, there is a great, friendly dog on premises who made the stay even better. The owners were really friendly and had some snacks ready for us and the cabin was stocked with the basic toiletries. Even though it was off the grid, it was on the mark with hospitality.

Cozy retreat
Comfy, cozy off grid cabin in the woods. Plenty of hot water for the 2 of us, never even started to run out. Super comfy beds, nice towels, kitchen ready for cooking. Perfect if you want to disconnect from the world. We spent all our time on the front and side porch reading, enjoying a drink and listening to nothing but the sounds of the forest. Catherine and Bob are great hosts. We are driving home happy and refreshed. Thanks for the stay!
