Unplug and relax! (No WiFi or TV)
Beautiful and comfortable natural stone house with great views from multi-level decks and a private dock on peaceful Council Creek cove of Lake Buchanan in the scenic Texas Hill Country. This warm and inviting 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, one-story home features a Master bedroom with great views of the trees and lake, and a sliding glass door to the expansive decks. The living room features wood floors and a beautiful wood-burning, rock fireplace. The open, island kitchen has all the necessary amenities, and the dining table has picture window views of the bird feeder, trees and lake beyond.

The multi-level decks offer great views of the lake and wildlife during the day, and awesome celestial gazing at night. A large gas grill is available to cook meals, as well as a chiminea where you and your friends can cozy up with your favorite beverages during cooler times. Walk down the scenic rock path to the lake and take a dip, cast a line, or just relax on the private dock. So many great options without leaving the property!

Guests have access to the entire property except a private, locked storage area. There's room to park 3-4 cars in the driveway, including one space under the carport. I'm available by phone to assist with any questions or issues before and during your stay.

Perfect getaway

The house was clean and the perfect place to go when you want to get away from the busyness of life. The dock was a peaceful place to sit and drink my coffee while the kids and grandparents fished. I would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful Townhouse with awesome views

The furnishings and decor were better than any that I have seen in any condo or home that I have rented to date. The sunsets looking across the lake were spectacular. The community that the home sets in is absolutely amazing as well. The wife is already looking for a place to purchase in the area. I will definitely be renting here again in the future

Great dock and scenery, water access, comfortable home

Everything was great. The home smells a bit musty but it could be the detergents, when one enters. The outside deck and dock are great and everything basic that we needed was provided. Cleanliness could be a bit better eg. bed linens, pillows, blender was found stained with its base needing cleaning (Tomato/red stuff). Pillows need to be swapped out as they look dirty, rest was ok. Toilets are a bit noisy.

Great little lakehouse

First, if you are afraid of bugs, this place is not for you. It's in the country and comes with country bugs. If you can get past that, it's awesome! It felt very spacious in spite of just being 2 bedrooms. The kitchen had most things we needed. There was plenty of TP, paper towels, bath towels etc. My kids loved swimming off of their amazing dock and eating our meals outside on the deck! It's an old home that the owners have decorated to feel more up to date. The deck chairs need to be replaced, but other than that everything was in good condition and very enjoyable!

What a great place to unwind and get away.

This place was clean and had everything you need to make meals in the kitchen. There is plenty of space for eating inside or on the deck overlooking the lake. We loved all the birds that came to feed on the nearby bird feeder and we also saw a Roadrunner on the path to the dock. We absolutely loved the 2 story dock as it gave us plenty of space to fish and swim while protecting us from the sun. We caught 4 fish off the dock and swam right off the dock as well. At first we were surprised there was no TV or WiFi but in the end that was a true blessing. We completed a puzzle, played card games and enjoyed the water and the home. If you need bait the Red Top Bait shop is close and they are well stocked. We had success with night crawlers. The HEB in Burnet is fully stocked even though it is small and the Dollar Store across the street is well stocked. You will enjoy this place.

Perfect getaway

My two girlfriends and I had a perfect girls weekend! The location is great, only a little over 1 hour drive from south Austin but still felt like we were out of town on vacation. Loved the views, big dock, and landscape around the property. Saw lots of deer and other wildlife. The walk down to the lake is very doable, even caring coolers, floaties just take it slow and steady. There were a few floaties provided on the dock and a kayak for guest use. The kitchen was fully stocked. We were not able to figure out the grill (lack of knowledge and probably best for our safety :). But it looked like a nice set up. The beds were comfy. We also enjoyed not having wifi, and felt we enjoyed every moment instead of being on our phones. We were still able to use bluetooth to play music on our jukebox. Bliss on Lake Buchanan had everything we needed and more, would definitely stay again!

We love this place!

My family and I have stayed here twice now. The kids love swimming off of the dock. The house is great. Very clean. The view from the kitchen is awesome. I loved the fact that there is no tv or wifi. It was great for the whole family to take a break from electronics and just spending quality time with eachother. The host is very nice and very prompt when you have a question. We will look to book here again next time. Thank you Doug and Bliss.

Great Father’s Day weekend

We enjoyed our trip to lake Buchanan, thanks to a perfect place to stay. The kitchen was well equipped, including snacks and coffee to enjoy on a fabulous deck overlooking the lake. A large grill was great for grilling each night. The dock was fabulous for sunsets, hammock relaxing, kayaking, fishing and docking our pontoon boat. The landscaping up the hill side is beautiful. Remember your flashlight for navigating your way back up. The lake is very large with had many coves to discover. The deer, fox and birds provide the entertainment!

back to basics with nature.

Very nice and comfy. Had a great time felt like being secluded in the woods the way the house is surrounded by the nature . No electronic devises make you spend more time with the little ones. Great time!!

Fabulous House and location

This house is on the water and an extremely wonderful view. There is a park with a boat launch. The Burnet area is a vacation dream. So many things to do and see. Staying in the comfort of a house with all of the amentities was a wonderful getaway.

Beautiful view and a fun swim.

Wife, 2 kids (5 & 3), and I stayed here in September and had a fabulous time. The sunsets were amazing! The walk to and from the dock looks longer than it is. Neither one of the little ones had any problems. Would stay here again.

Find Bliss at Bliss on Lake Buchanan!

We can't say enough about the kindness and responsiveness of the host. We encountered a few hiccups during our visit, none of which were his fault. He resolved our problems quickly and fairly. This charming hilltop house was immaculate. We felt as if we were in a treehouse, above the trees. The peaceful water of Council Cove in the background make the view truly stunning. We enjoyed watching the sunset and the full moon from the dock. We highly recommend this property!

Relaxation

This is the second year for us to stay. We brought a boat this time to enjoy fishing and swimming on the lake of course the dock is a good place for that too. Did some exploring swam at the islands and just relaxed. Will be there next summer 2021. Thanks for everything the house and the dock are great.

Views are mesmerizing

We had a fabulous time. The house is perfect. Whether sitting inside or at the kitchen table the views are beautiful. We could fish off the dock. We caught several fish. We loved it and will be back.

The place is a gem, awesome view, amazing location, isolated and peaceful. The house is old but well maintained, we had everything we needed and the host was caring and available to answer any questions. The lake is a great "swimming pool" and you do not need anything else to enjoy!

Lovely getaway

The views was awesome, fishing was slow, but overall we really really enjoyed our stay. Had great neighbors, very spacious deck with grill and even seen deer in the backyard.

Relaxing

Nice clean house with everything you need. Tremendous views overlooking the lake out of the picture windows and the outside decks are nice to sit and enjoy nature. Doug, a native Texan, and Bliss, a "Yankee" from Connecticut, both moved away from our respective home states after college to work at various jobs before simultaneously landing a job at a company in Dallas, TX where we married and settled. We have traveled around the World, and love all things outdoors. Bliss also loves reading and pedicures and Doug's favorite activities include golf, biking, skiing (water and snow), snowboarding, hiking and just relaxing on a beach. Both of us love relaxing and entertaining at the lake house. We think you'll love it to.

Why they chose this property

Doug started visiting Lake Buchanan with a family friend when he was in the second grade (a loooong time ago). He visited often, usually several times each year, and loved the freedom, tranquility, and beauty of the area. Doug always dreamed that he would one day have a property on Lake Buchanan so his kids could enjoy the same wonderful experiences as he did growing up. Bliss and Doug made that dream come true when they purchased this home in August 1998.

What makes this property unique

Council Creek is one of the prettiest areas on Lake Buchanan. Legend has it that Council Creek was so-named because Native American tribes met at the creek to "council" and negotiate treaties, so it is also historically significant. There are many natural and geological points of interest in the area as well.

The thing that makes this property so unique is that it's perched high above the lake which provides gorgeous views of the water and surrounding hills and trees. However, a short walk down the hill allows you to be on the lake and enjoy all the benefits the water has to offer. Natural flora and fauna are abundant. The multi-level decks provide a feeling of being in a tree house which is so peaceful. More than one friend who has accompanied us to this house has been inspired to purchase their own lake house.
