About this property

THE SUITE:

Located in a lovely country setting, 20 minutes from the airport and 15 minutes to downtown Victoria, this idyllic vacation invites you to relax out on your private deck, and enjoy the peace of a home away from home. Pamper yourself in the extra deep soaker tub, enjoy a movie on Netflix on the widescreen Smart TV, and dive into bed early after a great day of adventuring on the West Coast.

The Suite does not have cooking facilities per se (due to a local bylaw). It is, however, equipped with a 2 burner glass cook top, a bar sized fridge, toaster, coffee maker, electric tea kettle and of course, glasses, dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans for cooking in house if you would like.

The spacious Master bedroom, has a lovely king-sized bed and Smart TV, with cable or Netflix for late night viewing.

The Master bathroom has a deep soaker tub/shower, 2 separate sinks and fresh linens.

The Private deck/entry is great for sunbathing or enjoying a morning coffee, with a treetop view. There is a staircase with its own private entry.

The living room/kitchenette also has a double pull out couch for an additional 1-2 guests, and a single bed (Max 4 in the suite) NOTE: We can provide a pack and play crib if required.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

A 10 minute walk from the Treetop Suite is the Horticulture Centre of the Pacific, in the Glendale Gardens and Woodlands, with a beautiful spot for breakfast, called "Charlotte and the Quail", boasting fabulous, organic, local fare. We highly recommend you enjoy a walk to the gardens and tea at the Bistro during your stay. A great place for family photos!

VICTORIA:

Spend your days touring Centennial Square, Jazz Fest and the fabulous events of the summer season downtown Victoria. Take in all the street performers, talented local artists and incredible musicians on the world famous Inner Harbour and Government Street. Spend your evenings walking along the ocean at Dallas Road and stroll the breakwater to the picture perfect lighthouse, topping off the night with a beer and tappa at one of the amazing restaurants Victoria is famous for.

Sushi fan? Make a reservation at Ebizo Sushi (one of our favourite spots) and try their amazing Riki Roll (not on the menu) and the Tuna Tataki with EXTRA cabbage and sauce!

Saturdays, in the late afternoon and evening is a great day to plan to take in the stunning sights at the World Famous Butchart Gardens. Enjoy a dinner in the gardens and a fabulous fireworks display when the sun goes down, all summer long! (Fireworks July/August only) Bring a blanket to lay on under the stars! Coming in the winter? Make sure to take in the Christmas lights of Butcharts, skate under the stars and enjoy the 12 days of Christmas that is sure to take your breath away!

Most of the beautiful beaches in the Greater Victoria area are a short 15-20 min drive away. Island View Beach, Cordova bay, Gyro park and Willows beach are the favourites, but there are many more to choose from! You can also enjoy a beautiful 10km walk around Elk and Beaver Lake, a 5 minute drive away, and Durrance Lake is a great (local favourite) for a dip in the summertime! Make sure you stop in at the Red Barn Market for some Island Farms Ice cream on your way to the lake!

There are also beautiful walking trails up the road, and right across the street as well as the lovely Horticultural Center of the Pacific for a small fare.

Treetop getaway

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The venue is beautiful with time spent on the deck enjoying the sunshine and beautiful surroundings. Our hostess is the best!! Very enjoyable and will certainly return the next opportunity we have of coming to Victoria Island.

Quiet comfort and convenience!

Enjoyed our taste of life in Victoria, staying in a nice suburb that is centrally located. Arrived at night but had easy access to the well-lit apartment which was very comfortable and well appointed. Had plenty of supplies for cooking "at home" and a nearby grocery store, as well as takeout options when we didn't want to eat out. Enjoyed an easy drive to the Butchart Gardens as well as downtown attractions. Barely saw the hosts, but did not need them.

Not what we were expecting

The good things first, the location was excellent, liked being able to make our own meals. There was a nice seating area outside. The bad, I didn’t know that the buildings were attached. I never would have booked if I had known it was part of the owners house and that we would be listening to their noise the whole night. Also they were super weird about us opening our windows. The owner told us they were running the air and it was messing up the system when we opened our windows. We would close the windows all day, but when we got back it was cooler outside and really hot inside so it just was better to open windows. The ad says there is a coffee maker so we bought coffee for a regular coffee maker. It’s a Keiurig. When we asked for more tabs she told us that they don’t supply coffee the whole time. Which is fine, but state what kind of coffee one should pick up when they stop to get groceries before seeing the place. I wasn’t going to buy more coffee when that was their problem. She was very defensive and rude during our exchanges. She asked my husband twice in one conversation when we were leaving. Like she’d had enough of us with our open windows and needing towels and sheets. We also had to get new sheets as one of the beds had hair and makeup on it. They were set up for two people not four as we had our kids too. They had no idea who is staying. It wasn’t the cleanest place either. We would never stay here again.

Handy spot, close to Victoria

The treehouse suite is clean, comfortable and well equipped for a short stay. Great king bed and spacious bathroom. Location worked well for us to visit Butchart Gardens, hop over to Salt Spring for a day and check out some other local spots. Would be easy to get into Victoria too. And relatively close for getting back to the airport at the end of our trip.

Exceeded expectations!

I stayed for two days. Accommodations were as described. Lots of steps! Amazing bathroom and comfy bed. Host was helpful in quickly dealing with a Netflix minor connectivity issue. Would recommend to others.

Oh it was just lovely! My girls and I rented the top suite with the kitchen window that overlooks trees and colquitz creek before it crosses over. We were extremely impressed with the cleanliness, coziness, and peaceful atmosphere about the place. The master bedroom's bed was quite honestly the most comfortable bed that I've ever slept in! The deep soaker tub was amazing for relaxing after a long day of visiting family again, I could just go on and on about how wonderful it is, but it's one of those things you need to experience for yourself!

Cozy little nest…

Really enjoyed our stay. The unit was very clean and was exactly as advertised. Quiet location and close proximity to airport and highways taking you into downtown Victoria or up to Nanaimo. The only thing I felt was missing was a freezer compartment in the bar sized fridge (for my ice cream urges). All in all, I would definitely recommend this property to others.

Stayed for 17 days, early September. Overall great and we’d likely stay again. Why a 4/5? There are 15-20 stairs to access the place. Not a big deal alone however, one night half way down the stairs I couldn’t see the middle platform and fell. We had turned the top light on to help see going down the stairs but the bottom motion light hadn’t triggered (it doesn’t unless you’re right at the bottom). I ended up with a massive slice and severe bruising down my shin. Luckily I was able to grab the rail or I would have tumbled to the bottom. We ended up leaving a day early. Better lighting is definitely needed. There’s a quiet time, 7am-10pm, however for us 7am is rough. The main bedroom and hallway to the bathroom have paper thin walls - between 7-8 am, almost every morning, it was noisy. Coffee grinder, dishes clanging, full conversations, even the washing machine. By the 3rd night I had moved into the main area to sleep as it’s separated from the bedroom/hallway with a heavy door and obviously thicker walls. The problem sleeping there is the noise from the fridge - eventually I gave up and put ear plugs in. King bed is very uncomfortable and pillows on both beds are very flat, not ideal. Although we ran into the host a few times and they were pleasant to talk to, they never asked if we needed anything - it’s pretty much up to you to approach them if you do On the brighter side, overall the room was better than staying in a hotel. Loved the birds. Location was good.

Quiet and comfy

My stay was very quiet and comfy. This was my first stay away from my kids and fiance. It was a much needed getaway before our wedding in 10 days ! . This treetop suite is very clean, and a perfect stay. I did wake up a few times in the night hearing a loud sound but went quickly back to bed. The bed in the main room was so comfy like I was sleeping on a cloud 🥰

We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was spacious and luxurious. Very thoughtfully designed and decorated. The kitchen area was well equipped and it was nice to have the BBQ. Unique Retreat

Nice area, close to walking trails and nature. Suite is a quaint and comfortable little hideaway and not too far from downtown or ferry. Traffic from main road can be heard and is quite constant until early evening. Never received response to request for early check in and felt cleaning fee was quite steep however we would stay again.

Wonderful place to stay

I fell in love with Victoria 37 years ago when we moved our family of 5 out West. The weather, the mountains, the Inner Harbour, the ocean, fresh air, great dining, pubs, music and the wonderful people of this city made it impossible to ever leave for us! I raised my kids here, and now get to enjoy it with 10 grandchildren (who are the best part of my life!)

I purchased Solid Rock Acres 30 years ago, and built this dream home with family in 2008. When my kids moved away, and I started on the path to retirement, I decided to share our home with travellers, and have never looked back! Meeting wonderful people from all over the world has been a highlight of hosting with Airbnb, and I look forward to meeting you!

I love the outdoor beauty of this area, so close to the lakes, hiking, ocean, fishing, golfing and yet on the outskirts of the city! The heritage buildings of downtown Victoria, the many beaches and of course, Butchart Gardens are among my favourite places to enjoy with family and friends!

I hope you fall in love with Victoria as I have!

Why they chose this property

I purchased this 2 acre property back in 1989, with a tiny 600 sq ft, 100 year old house and a giant black berry bush covering most of the property. We raised our family of 5 in that home and worked together for over 30 years to transform the property to where it is today. In 2008, we designed and built this custom dream home with 2 of our children & their spouses, and lived together in community for almost 8 years! Life has since moved them on to other adventures but I still own the property with our daughter, who rents out her previous residence next door as a vacation rental. I decided to open the Treetop Suite to travellers in 2015, and have never looked back. I so enjoy hosting people from around the globe, and sharing this dream home with them!
