Bayou Bleu - On the Historic Bayou

Elegant and historic home with New Orleans character and luxury, and a picturesque view of Bayou St. John, a favorite destination for locals and visitors alike. Just steps to the streetcar and a scenic five minute ride to the French Quarter and Downtown. The area boasts some of the oldest architecture in New Orleans as it was the original passage into the city. Fabulous walkability – walk to Jazz Fest, Voodoo Fest, and more. The neighborhood is popular for its coffee shops, restaurants, wine bars, kayaking, and the Lafitte Corridor bicycle path connecting it to the French Quarter. The New Orleans Museum of Art is located in the park, as well as a world class sculpture garden, golf course, fitness track, and boat rentals. City Park is the 5th largest in the U.S. home to the oldest grove of mature live oaks in the world.

This rental is the entire first floor flat of an historic 100 year old New Orleans home with a private entrance and Southern living porch that looks onto the bayou and a 300-year-old moss laden oak tree. The home is well appointed, comfortably luxurious, with all modern amenities and antiques throughout. There is a full laundry and well-equipped kitchen. The living room is comfortable with views to the bayou and a television with cable. Three bedrooms and two and a half baths that can accommodate eight people. The master bedroom has a king size bed, ensuite jacuzzi bath and walk-in closet. The second guest bedroom has a queen bed and an ensuite half bath. Between the second and third bedroom is a newly remodeled full bath. The third guest room has a queen size bed and a large closet.
There is no guest access to the garden. 

Note - Bayou Bleu was listed for four years with another property manager; however, all of the stellar reviews unfortunately did not transfer to the new site.

Beautiful stay in a perfect location

My parents (60s), my husband and I (late 30s early 40s), 14 month old and six-year-old stayed here in late March 2025. I grew up in New Orleans and I knew I wanted to be somewhere within walking distance of city Park for the kids. This house has a beautiful waterfront view, it is a three minute walk to the edge of the park in a 10 minute walk to playgrounds, Café Du Monde,, storybook land, and the children’s museum. The museum is amazing, but I think my son had the most fun just on the playground down the street from the house.It was really relaxing to just sit on the porch and have a drink and watch the water and the people going by. The location is also very convenient for groceries, Pharmacy, anything you might need.The house itself is very comfortable and charming, with an updated kitchen. Having Netflix was also great for the kids. The three bedrooms were good for our party. We picked up all our essentials at Whole Foods 5 min away and were set for the 4-5 days we were there. The host was very easy to communicate with and let us do a later checkout than was listed. The only small thing I can even think to say otherwise is I wish there had been a pack and play to use for the 14 month old. We brought our guava lotus instead. I would definitely stay here again!! Fantastic home base to see the city from. Thank you!! :)

Beautiful Home, Perfect Location

This property was perfect for my large family. The amenities are wonderful-beds are super comfortable and the linens are great. Plenty of blankets and towels. The location could not be better. We all walked to City Park (across the street) for beignets and coffee. The Fairgrounds are just a short walk away as well. The area feels safe and quiet. This was our second stay in this home and we will certainly rent it again!

Great stay for Tulane graduation 2023

The home was charming and comfortable and just right for our needs. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen well stocked, the showers hot, and the A/C comfortably cool. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch overlooking the bayou. The area was quiet and easily accessible. Walked to Cafe Du Monde in City Park for beignets for breakfast one day. Walked to Ralph’s on the Park for a celebratory graduation dinner. I recommend this property.

Lovely large ground floor apartment

This is a lovely house in a wonderful neighborhood. We really enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching the activity on the Bayou. It’s very easy to take the trolley or Lyft down to the French Quarter. City park is just a couple of blocks away. The kitchen has almost everything you’d want, except for a coffee grinder. The bathrooms have shampoo and conditioner, and there was a hair dryer in our bathroom. This was a great place to stay for 5 adults who didn’t want the crazy activity in the French Quarter.

Family thanksgiving

This beautiful house was well equipped for us to gather as a family and cook together. We enjoyed the beautiful artwork in the house and the pretty blue and white dishes. We found a puzzle we put together and took walks in nearby City Park and on the bayou. One night we walked to Ralph's on the Park for a gourmet dinner. All in all, we were very happy with our stay.

A restful location in a bustling city

We loved our stay in Mid-City along the Bayou. What a great house. Drinking coffee on the front porch was a morning ritual. It is extremely pleasant to watch the sunrise over the water. This is a great location, especially for a family that doesn't wish to be in the heart of the French Quarter. The location is perfect and we were able to drive or use a ride service to everywhere. The house is clean, comfortable, and has New Orleans charm. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful home and great stay

Hosts were very easy to communicate with. The house is beautiful and the location is fantastic. Easy walking distance to City Park and a block from the streetcar. The house was clean and tidy when we arrived. My son and his groomsmen dressed for his wedding at the museum at the house and there was plenty room for everyone. The beds were very comfortable and bed and bath linens were top quality. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The bathrooms were beautiful with lots of hot water and good water pressure in the showers. I loved the history of the house and area that was provided by the owners. I highly recommend.

Perfect Stay

Wonderful experience. Highly recommend. Conveniently located. Perfectly outfitted with beds that make it seem like you are sleeping on a cloud. Owners couldn’t be nicer. Felt perfectly safe and secure. Parking fine. Best yet is you can walk to City Park to get coffee and beignets in the morning!

Exceptional location

Location and cleaning of apartment were superb. Furnished like home with thoughtful items like garbage bags and dishwasher soap. The porch facing Bayou St. John was delightful. Convenient to park, transportation, stores. Owners were helpful and never obtrusive. Very quiet.

Beautiful Bayou Bleu Home

We had a wonderful times in NOLA. The home looks just like the pictures, beautiful and clean. We absolutely loved the front porch. The neighborhood was quite and safe. Very short walk to the RTA, City Park and Museum. The botanical garden was beautiful. We would liked Fairgrounds for coffee, Mandina’s and Parkway Bakery in MidCity for dinner. We definitely stay here again.

June NOLA Family Trip

This property is excellent!! The accommodations are attractive comfortable and well maintained. The setting is relaxing and beautiful with Bayou St. John just out your front door for walking, running, kayaking, or just sitting and enjoying. The trolley is just steps away but I found Uber to be the most efficient mode of travel around the city. No ride was ever more than 10 minutes away from pickup. Proximity to City Park is a real plus; peaceful, charming, and Cafe Du Monde!! The whole package is such a welcome contrast to and respite from your forays into the chaotic French Quarter. We will stay here again and again.

The Flavor of New Orleans

We had a wonderful long weekend in New Orleans and thoroughly enjoyed staying in this beautiful home. We had six adults and there was plenty of room for all of us. Very charming home originally build in 1890 that has been beautifully renovated, warmly decorated in the spirit of New Orleans and is a delightful place to enhance your visit to this great city. The front porch overlooking the water is perfect for morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The owners made us feel right at home. We rated this home an 11!!

City Park by the bayou

The property was extremely nice , clean, and well appointed . The listing photographs accurately reflected how nice everything was . The owner also provided helpful brochures and pamphlets. The City Park location is very convenient to downtown and many things were walkable including the park, restaurants and the street car line . We would certainly stay there again.

Excellent accommodations and location!

The description of the accommodations matches the actual experience. The home is well maintained and comfortable. The kitchen had all of the supplies we needed. We were a group of 8 friends and were all very comfortable. Given that one of the rooms is a walk through, it would be better for a group of 6, but is definitely spacious enough for eight. We really liked the location. It was away from all of the commotion of the French quarter, but still had easy access to the French quarter and all of the other neighborhoods we visited. There are great restaurants with in walking distance and it's location right next to City Park and the Museum of Art are a plus! Communication with the host was also super smooth!
