EXPENSIVE
Absolutely no issues about the suite, the attention to detail was incredible. MAJOR ISSUE are all the extra charges. VRBO does not allow specifics in the review so look at the fine print before you accept the terms.

Very nice
Very quaint suite, lovely host who was quick to act on queries. Only issue was neighbour's dog who twice tried to scale a 6 ft fence to try and get to our dogs. But certainly not the hosts fault. The area is known for poor cell reception, but wifi worked fine.

Courtenay Visit
My adult son, a friend and I stayed for three nights in Jane’s cute little basement apartment. She was very welcoming with lots of great information on the local area. The yummy snacks for the weary travellers were very much appreciated. The little sitting area outside was lovely and we were a short walk to the river and beautiful walking trails,

We weren't expecting a basement unit. Seemed musty. Bed was very soft. People above my room were talking most of the night. Cat(i think) trampling around upstairs. There is a nice trail nearby

A cosy piece of heaven
What gem is Janeys Jen. It had everything we needed and more. It was very clean and well stocked with everything. The property is in a quiet location, but is convenient to the shops and restaurants. We arrived late in afternoon and Jane had left us a welcoming gift which was nice and appreciated. It was very hot the few days we were there but able to cool off in the nearby river, which was so nice All in all it has been one of the best properties we have stayed and will be recommending it to family and friends who maybe holidaying in the area

Lovely family spot
Jane’s place was really clean with thoughtful snacks waiting upon our arrival (really nice with kids in tow!). The location is incredible with a beautiful pathway and park just down the block. The only downfall to this property was the noise- although The family upstairs were super respectful, it’s an older build so even the dog & people walking around are very loud, especially at night.

Quaint little spot.
We found the kitchenette well equipped. The Hostess had left us a complimentary continental breakfast which was a nice surprise and enjoyed by all. We were a group of 4 and found there was only seating for 3 in the living room area.

Cozy basement apartment
We appreciated staying here while we visited friends in the area. Jane clearly cares about the comfort of her guests and provided homey comforts like coffee, tea, and light breakfast items. The location was great and our dog was welcome which made us feel welcome too! Our only regret was that we didn't get to meet our considerate host.

Property was clean, however the hosts were noisy, could hear them preparing for bed, loud discussions a number of times, well it was nice and clean the noise level was too high and it really wasn’t set up to prepare other than a light meal

Nice place
We loved the artwork on the walls and it was a really nice cozy place. Everything we needed was already there for us and the kids loved the juice boxes and apples that the host left for them. We all appreciated the muffins and yogurt, making for easy breakfast. Temperatures dropped to around freezing outside while we were there and the unit was pretty cold despite the 4 heaters being turned up all the way. Luckily, there was plenty of blankets but I wish we would've brought slippers as the floor was freezing the whole time. House coats or warm sweaters would be a necessity as well if your visiting in cold temperatures. We didn't realize how cold this weekend was supposed to be so did not dress accordingly. We enjoyed the books and Netflix available to us but the listing did mentions kids toys, though we didn't find any. Overall a nice stay and we would consider returning as the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. It's close to a park (1 minute drive) but seems to be a little ways away from the main shopping locations in town (10 minutes).

Great little spot!
Cozy basement suit. It's so close to the river, that you can hear it. Great place to have a dog too as their are lots of trails close by. The owner was very accommodating. We enjoyed the little extras - breakfast snacks, orange juice, and milk for the supplied coffee. Our dog appreciated the dog treats too:)

About the host

Hosted by Jane Morrison

Host profile image
From Rhodesia/ Zimbabwe, originally, I recently relocated from the Northshore, Vancouver to the Comox Valley. I have always enjoyed nature and outdoor activities and have an artistic background. The Comox Valley has the right mix of both for me.

Why they chose this property

It is ideally situated with the right mix of village life, recreation and nature. The sound of the river is a peaceful lullaby. "Come to the forest to relieve your mind and find your soul...."

What makes this property unique

Well situated, the Comox Valley is in the central hub of the Island. You can fly directly into the CV airport. The islands are only a ferry away, and the road network can take you to the East and West coast of the Island. Sea, river, mountain, forest, wildlife watching, winter sports, hiking, biking, natural wonders, trendy arty shops, culture, relaxation.
Janey's jem is centrally located to access all of these attractions.
