This extensively-renovated cottage is decorated with countryside charm, making you feel immediately at home. Upper Scott Lake Retreat is perfect for any and all vacations, from families with children staying for a week to groups of old friends rekindling their relationships over the weekend in a serene country setting.
Enjoy water activities or just watch the swans from a chaise lounge on the lakeside deck. The spacious backyard includes a level lawn perfect for playing games, plus a new huge park-style charcoal grill. And of course, there is a private sandy beach with a dock and canoe just steps away from the house. A fire pit is a perfect place for roasting marshmallows while watching the sunset, or telling ghost stories while stargazing the endless skies. For those chilly early spring or autumn days, the dining room has a great view of the lake and a large table perfect for scrapbooking. There are books, games, and kid-friendly videos for the whole family to enjoy. The large recreation room has comfy leather sofas, a pool table, a foosball table, and a wide-screen HDTV connected to both satellite service and a DVD player. Enjoy your meals in our kitchen and dining area, on the screened-in porch overlooking the lake and expansive backyard, or gather together on our lovely dual Polywood dining sets on the huge lake-facing deck.
This home closes for the winter after New Year's Eve until April 1.

Our entire home, yard, private beach, private dock, and canoe are ready and waiting for your exclusive use during your stay.
Respect Our Neighbors: Use Only Our Yard, Beach, Dock, Driveway, & Parking Areas. No RV Parking/Camping.
Use of our canoe is free with the home. We also offer reasonably-priced kayak rental, by the day ($25/day) or week; reservation & pre-payment are required; a $100 minimum rental applies.
Local boat rental options may be available--just ask for details. The public boat launch is just across the lake from our home.

The Neighborhood:
Upper Scott Lake Retreat is one of a handful of homes surrounding Upper Scott Lake, a quiet inland lake in Lee Township, Michigan. Come and experience the seasons in a secluded area of Michigan. Summer brings the fun of boating, swimming, picnicking, and relaxing. The autumn colors are spectacular around the lake and in the surrounding area. Spring brings the lovely colors of the flowers and leaves bursting to new life, invigorating your soul and mind after the long winter.
The cottage is 10-15 minutes away from Crane's Orchards and Dutch Farms, famous for delicious pies and fruit picking. On the way to the orchards is the Fennville Winery, offering tours and wine tastings. If you like antiquing, it does not get better than this - there are many antique stores within 20 minutes, either in South Haven, Allegan, Douglas and Saugatuck or along Blue Star Highway. In the summer dune rides are a blast and the South Haven beaches are gorgeous. Go fruit picking for cherries, blueberries, raspberries and apples in nearby orchards. Art galleries in the area offer wonderful selection to take home as souvenirs. Take your canoes and kayaks to different lakes and rivers - but don't forget your paddles and life-jackets!
Upper Scott Lake is only 15 minutes from downtown South Haven or Saugatuck, and 25 minutes from Holland.

Getting Around:
You will definitely need a car to see the best that Southwest Michigan has to offer.
Upper Scott Lake is only 15 minutes by car from downtown South Haven, 20 minutes from Saugatuck, and 25 minutes from Holland.
Note: We Do Not Offer Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging & Attempting To Do So Will Overload/Damage Our Electrical System. Violators Will Automatically Be Charged a Full $400.00 Charge/Fine Plus Applicable Damages.

Wi-Fi internet is provided by AT&T, but they only offer limited speeds so more than a few connected devices at a time will cause lag. We provide satellite TV since video streaming is not an option.
Parties: Loud Parties With Excessive Alcohol/Drug Use Are Not Allowed. All Drinking Games Are Prohibited. We Ask That Nothing Be Stuck To Our Walls Since This Will Damage The Paint. You May Not Use Tinsel, Glitter, Confetti, Feathers, Etc. During Your Stay Since These Leave A Mess That Is Hard & Time-Consuming for Our Small Staff To Clean Up. Note: If You Have This Kind of Party, We Will Call The Police & Have You Removed From Our Property.
Township-Mandated Quiet Hours Are From 10 PM-8 AM Daily.
